Sweet Elle Café

I love bakeries. Now, I know that Sweet Elle’s isn’t a bakery, but the point is, I love sweets. You see, I am a weirdo who eats scones, pasteries, and muffins as a dessert, not just breakfast. I came across Sweet Elle’s one day, in need of a caffeinated beverage. I was tired from a full day of work and was on some controversial medication that helps me relax; but there was schoolwork to be done, tests to study for, a house to clean, and a dog that needed to be played with. So I got a regular coffee. It was very good. And a scone. That maple nut scone was the best scone I ever had. And I’ve had good scones before, from places that specialized in scones. Now, I don’t know what’s better, that scone or their summer camp cookie. They both excite me very much when paired with my regular coffee or cappuccino. If I wake up early to exercise, I reward myself with one of their treats before I go to work. I also reward myself for every A I get on an assignment. I stopped going to bakeries for scones and muffins because this place is not just closer to me, but also more delicious. Oh, by the way, the Classic Elle sandwich is scrumptious. The little heart in my cappuccino before I destroy it with sugar, makes me happy.

This place is adorable. Great drinks, great food, super nice staff, and awesome ambience for either studying or catching up with a friend.
I got a vegetarian breakfast wrap ($ 8.25), which comes with eggs, cheese, potatoes, avocado, and tomato in a spinach wrap. It comes with a side of salsa. It’s a good sized wrap, and I was actually pretty full after just half!
I also got a small latte and liked it a lot! They brew Stumptown here, and I actually liked my latte here better than the one I had at the actual location in Portland: p I like how they have the option to get a latte in 8oz, 12oz, 16oz, and 20oz sizes, so you can decide how much milk you want. A lot of times, increasing the size just means you can’t taste the espresso as much, since they don’t always increase the number of shots, so I always just get the 8oz size so you still taste the espressos flavor. They don’t have low fat or fat free milk here (I credit that to the fact that, like all legit coffee places, they know that espresso drinks taste best with full fat milk), but they do have pretty much any other type of dairy or non-​dairy (soy milk, almond milk, even hemp!).
All in all, this was a great place to chill and catch up on some reading. There’s plenty of seating and if I lived intone area, I could see this being a place I go to often.

This establishment has fallen from grace. Used to love coming here after my dentist appointment with the family but our last trip was so disappointing that we won’t be returning. The young man behind the counter started this «fall» by declining to, in a very Tourette-​style, accept their own 10% off coupon for checking in on Unilocal.I ordered a chocolate croissant and was quickly dismayed that it was VERY chewy for something that is supposed to be very light and flaky. To their credit, at least they were willing to exchange that for something else that turned out to be a very mediocre blueberry donut. My husband had a club sandwich that was meh. The side salad it comes with is literally just spring mix lettuce and NOTHING else. I’m sure this place is now just ‘all right’ if you’re going in for coffee but it lost its charm of the friendly ‘mom n pop’ kind of place we usually love and try to patron.

Every time we are in the area, we stopped in for quick caffeine fix. Hubby got the huckleberry donut, he loves huckleberry & donut, but this combination here doesn’t work out for him. Sweet Elle has a large selection of food on the menu & the table next to us certainly have a good looking wrap that we want to try next time. They also have gelato. My lavender latte was great! Nice décor & lots of seating. Staff was nice & friendly, good service.

The owner, Grace, has done such an outstanding job building this business. The menu is fantastic, I love their vegan scramble wrap (and I really hope they keep it!), the ash bash sandwich is incredible on squaw bread, gourmet poptarts, and the best hot chocolate ever. And Grace is there every day! Talk about commitment, she knows what it takes to be successful and she’s killin it!
Andrew is usually manning the front in the morning and he’s an upstanding young man. Overall, magnificent café! My favorite in orange county! Love you guys!

Honestly this is the best coffee shop in Huntington Beach! Awesome service, food, pastries, and coffee!
This place is such a gem with cutest décor! My favorite part about this place is house awesomely unique it is, and it makes you feel right at home! It’s as «cool» as all the new «hipster» coffee shops, but with a much more calm and friendly vibe!
I have loved everything so far that I’ve tried here but I’m especially addicted to their Vietnamese iced coffee and lox bagel! Definitely try one of their pop tarts pastries as well! Perfect spot for any coffee fanatics out there looking for their everyday coffee needs!

I really really liked their chai frappé !! The interior was very warm and gave off a nice vibe! It wasn’t crowded either!

Been going here for over a year and I kept procrastinating on giving them the 5* they deserve.
I can never concentrate at home (Ending up playing or binge watching movies) so I always camping at some coffee shop for more productive results. And by camping I mean at least 6+ hours. Starbucks was nice while it lasted but sometimes their employees gave me weird eyes for staying too long. Sweet Elle has this bar-​like table that’s kind of secludef from the front of the shop. Perfect for a hermit crab like me. The ambience is usually quiet but it does get noisy on some occasions so get your headphone ready.
Anyway onto the actual coffee/​food review. I’ve tried their latte, americano, chai latte, and lavender latte with expresso. While they’re all good, the latte always taste a bit burnt for some reason so I stopped order them and settled with the lavender. The bagel is heavenly but they’re exclusive breakfast so you can’t order them after 11:30pm iirc. Pricing is honestly a tad expensive to me but I’ve always stayed for so long and used so much electricity so I feel that’s kinda justified. Plus all my laptop and accessories usually took up to 2 — 3 spaces.
The owner Grace is such a sweet lady and her staffs are really nice too.

I love this place! Such a warm and welcoming café. Definitely not overcrowded which is a huge plus for me and probably every other introverts out there.
They’re fairly spacious with a good amount of outlets. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a place to get work done. They also have a nice collection of books near the back. Not sure if you’re allowed to pick one up so I apologize in advance if you do and get in trouble. Sorry!
Anyways, their peanut butter mocha was super delicious! I definitely recommend having it warm but over ice is equally delicious. Having it blended with ice somewhat diluted the flavors for me, Their house coffee was pretty delicious too but that mocha was my highlight. They have a lot on the menu but I did not get the chance to sample their food. It looked super yummy!
The staff here are super nice. If you’re not sure what to get, ask the lady who is usually making all the bomb drinks. She’s super sweet to talk to and will recommend lots of options. I’m pretty sure she’s the owner but I never asked.
The only downside for me is that this place closes a bit early. I mean, they’re open for 12 hours but I’m usually asleep for that first 6. Overall I still love this place. If you’re in the area and you need to get some work done or to escape reality, give this place a try.

This place is SUPER DUPER cute! It feels like home when you walk in. Or at least, an american old style home. Like those grandma houses you see in the movies. I got the latte 16 oz (?) as well as a bagel with cream cheese and avocado. The bagel was delicious, however I did ask for an everything bagel and received a plain bagel. I would have told them, but I didn’t notice until taking my first bite. The bagel overall was still good though! The latte was a bit bitter for me, but hey, nothing a little splenda can’t fix right. After adding the amount to sweeten up my drink a bit, it tasted great. They also have green wifi here which is great considering it is next to 3 high schools as well as one college. Definitely a great place to come study and have something to eat. Service is very friendly and kind. Cannot wait to come back here again soon!

The Sweet Elle Café was near the hotel I stayed at. Old diner feel with updated food and great coffee.
There is something for everyone no matter what meal your there for. If you don’t check out this spot well you are in Huntington Beach you are missing out.

I wasn’t sure how many stars to give. 2? 3? Well, this I know for sure… their iced chai is so delicious. But a 2 ounce cup for nearly 5 dollars is too expensive. For me anyway.
I received a gift card and decided to order a sandwich for lunch. Previously I had their vegetarian breakfast bagel & it was pretty good. Because they were no longer serving breakfast, I ordered a vegetarian sandwich called the Ash Bash, whatever the heck that means. And holy crap was it TERRIBLE. It tasted awful and had a slightly fishy smell. I basically ate the cheese out of it and ate some of the bread and in the trash it went. What a disappointment. What a waste of my gift card.
Too bad. I work in the same shopping center and it is convenient to pop in for lunch every so often, but that sure won’t happen again. Perhaps for an iced chai here and there. Such an adorable looking coffee shop with nice employees too. But that sandwhich… can’t get over it’s nastiness

I’m not surprised this place is rated so well. We live down the street and come here all the time! We’ve tried a lot of the food and it’s all been great! They know how to make each item their own and it all tastes amazing. Drinks are also so good. I usually always get the chai tea but I’ve tried a few others and have never been disappointed. I don’t think you can go wrong with ordering anything at this place ! We even bought a cute little mug from here since it’s become one of our favorite spots. (We collect mugs) anyway ! This is a must if you’re in the area!

Flavors are good, sizes on the conservative side but there is no table service, so if you bring your wife for coffee and pastry, you will have to get up four times to go get your stuff. The furniture is borderline rustic leaning heavily towards just «old furniture». Constantly playing opera with an on and off noisy blender that will overpower any conversation.

Accidentally came across the place when I was meeting a friend in the area and I’m happy I did!

Love sweet Elle! My go to place when I need to get some work done or researching for a new adventure. Couches and seating is super cute, outlets everywhere so you can charge your stuff. People come to study, mingle, get coffee with friends. I love that the owner is there every morning I come in. Food is healthy and really good, especially the lox bagel. Coffee is delicious. They also have acai bowls, smaller portions than I’m used to but still satisfied my sweet tooth. I always scope out the table between the window and long game table, love that seat, so watch out!

Cute. Off the beaten path coffee house, located in a shopping center with plenty of parking! The venue is large with plenty of seating, they serve healthy baked goods, offering organic, gluten free and vegan options for their baked goods. They also have a great variety of beverages, along with food items.
I met a couple of people here for coffee and catch up time. It’s a great little place, they even serve up Fair Trade Coffee. Imagine that!
The décor is vintage, old skool. A ton of beat up old tables and chairs, plenty of outlets for logging in and staying for awhile, the barista’s have always been cool.

There are a lot of good things about this place, but I can sum it up with simply «Stumptown Nitro Cold Brew… on tap.» That’s gotta be the best coffee you can get in all of HB in one minute or less.
The food is good too, I should note that outside food isn’t allowed inside the café. Also starting Jan 2016 they are now closed on Sundays. Love this place. Wish they were open later!

First timer. Ordered a Mexican Mocha, Regular Hot Chocolate with Almond Milk and an Apple Poptart. The Mexican Mocha was good but nothing to get excited over. The Hot Chocolate tasted very watered down and the whipped cream quickly made my drink cold, didn’t help with the taste either. The Apple Poptart was my favorite, definitely did not taste like it came out of a box.
5 Stars for customer service. The young man behind the counter was very helpful and eager to answer any questions we had.
BTW, definitely not a one $ establishment. Too overpriced for what it is.

My boyfriend and I get coffee here at least twice a week. We love this spot because it’s so close to our apt, we get excellent service, and they brew Stumptown (my favorite) — single origin nitro draft hell yes!
Such a cozy café; staff is always friendly and remembered both of our names (and our order) after only one or two visits.
They’re usually jammin in the morning between 8 – 10 so I try to go before or after the rush.

Coming here was like paying a visit to the house of an old friend or very special someone — it’s a day to remember. This place is super cozy and relaxing, and there’s peaceful music to help break awkward silences and keep me focused on what’s happening now.
I came here to meet up with 2 friends and we (mostly I…) decided to share the original frozen hot chocolate (which is a hot chocolate flavored slushy with whipped cream and cocoa powder in a beautiful presentation). The very friendly staff made sure that I was aware of its size and that I shouldn’t eat it alone because that thing is HUGE. Trying my first frozen hot chocolate should be a «life event» because I’ve never tasted anything like it before. I think I’ve unlocked the sixth taste perception. Surprisingly, it had a hint of coffee flavor, and I don’t drink coffee but that made it taste really really good.

Came here to meet someone for the first time and talk – yeah ok it was a date ^^.
Super cute store that’s set up in a very homey fashion, especially since it was decorated for Christmas. There are a bunch of different tables and comfortable chairs, with lots of room to sit.
Pretty extensive menu! We got the recommended peppermint mocha and the Mexican mocha. Peppermint mocha was flavorful and rich, as was the Mexican mocha.
Super nice ambiance and good vibes. Great café!

Quick tips:
1. Located on the very side of the plaza in the corner!
2. There are plenty of tables and places to study, some of the tables are near a plug.
3. There are some board games there too!
I must confess, this review will only be for the frozen hot chocolate. Holy balls is it good and huge! The hot chocolate is blended until its almost like a melted slushy and then topped with their fantastic whipped cream and then dusted with chocolate and some chocolate fudge. It is way too big for one person and I suppose if you didn’t mind sharing an open bowl with others, it could probably be enough for three people. The other flavors it comes in are peanut butter and mint chocolate.
The whole area is very cozy and they play very relaxing music. There is a lot of natural light in the place and several tables and sofas scattered throughout the shop. They also sell their own coffee beans, many pastries, and of course their own brewed coffee. I did hear them talking about using nitrogen in making their coffee as well. I’m not as much a coffee buff as others, but from the conversation another couple was having their coffee was pretty good.
If the drink is so good, then why not 5 stars? Well, though it is huge in size, the frozen hot chocolate costs $ 8.99. And for what you’re getting, it seems worth it until you consider that it is literally blended hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. Still, it’s an A+ for presentation. The service is nothing really to comment on, the person taking our order was courteous and polite and the dessert/​drink came out in a timely manner.
Anyways, i hope you try out this cozy spot that’s great for studying/​spending a lazy Sunday afternoon!

I like this place! If I live close by, I am afraid that I will come here too often. The place is cute and cozy. The service was good although it is minimum as you have to order at the cashier and also pick it up when they call your order/​name. We wanted to try their frozen hot chocolate and did not regret it! Since we only ordered frozen hot chocolate, I cannot really comment too much on other things that they have. It may look a bit pricey as it is like $ 8 for frozen hot chocolate, but it is not pricey at all. Once you order it, you get a huge frozen hot chocolate which is more than enough to share with 2 people. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I did not like as much is that it had too much whipped cream on the frozen hot chocolate. It is just personal preference but I am not a big fan of whipped cream, and I guess I wasn’t sure how much whipped cream there will be. Maybe next time, I will ask for less whipped cream or skip it all together.

This is a cute little café on the corner of a shopping mall. The driveway turn and comes up on your click, so when you see the U.S. Bank be sure to turn right into the parking lot.
I came in at about 8 o’clock in the morning and there was a new girl on the register and one lady cranking out the drinks behind the bar. I think the lady making the drinks was the owner of the place and she was training the new person on how to run the register.
They have a cute little eclectic five, they sell Stumptown coffee, and they have some very interesting things on the menu like a lavender tea latte.
I ordered the breakfast wrap, you can get it with a spinach or whole wheat tortilla. It came with ham and bacon inside so you can’t complain. It just took a little longer to make than the coffee.
Overall, great place to get breakfast in the morning if you’re in Huntington Beach.

Atmosphere: Casual. Table seating throughout the small coffee shop with a great atmosphere, books available along with board games, also quiet enough to plug in your computer to do some work.
Ordered Items: Frozen Hot Chocolate and Strawberry Smoothie.
Sweet Ellie is a great little hole in the wall in Huntington Beach; they do not have long hours so it’s definitely a day time stop in. They offer yummy looking sandwiches’ and salads, hopeful I would be able to try them one day. I must admit that I ordered the Frozen Hot Chocolate purely from the photos that they had on their Unilocal,but it was a delicious chocolate slushy and definitely not made for 1, it was a huge bowl of chocolate slushy goodness. Also not to down play the strawberry smoothie, it was delicious. The service was also extremely nice and helpful. I will definitely be back!

Ordered a Frozen hot chocolate for $ 8.95. Definitely couldn’t finish if just one person. It’s huge, and can feed at least 2 – 3 people. Ended up leaving behind at least ¾ths of the large drink. Tastes decent. Plenty of seating indoors and a couple chairs/​table available outside as well.
Free Wi-​fi for guests. Service is friendly.

I’ve been looking for a bagel breakfast sandwich ever since I finally had to leave Einstein Bros, who became more concerned with speed and money as opposed to service and quality. Well. the search is over… it was right here all along!
Sweet Elle focuses on quality and service above all else. Very soft cheese bagel. Excellent savory sundries tomato bagel.
Internet and several outlets.

No cranberry bagel. :-(
Poor air conditioning, which is the only reason I would not be able to stay and work here.
Bottom Line: will be having coffee and bagel breakfast sandwich at least once a week.

I was looking for a coffee shop where I could hole up all day and get some work done and decided to give Sweet Elle Café a try after reading great reviews on it. My fellow Unilocalers did not disappoint! Sweet Elle is located in a retail plaza next to a Stater Bros and CVS. It is one of the coziest coffee shops I’ve ever been to. All of the furniture is mismatched and of different sizes. They have space for every group size and their set up invites coffee drinkers who are there for any reason. Toward the back of the café they have two seater tables which is great if you need more of a quiet place to work. They have sofas if you just want to lounge, a bar area facing the window (also where the outlets are located) and 4 person tables in the middle of the shop.
I grabbed one of their four person tables as my friend was planning on joining me later and we would need space to spread our stuff out. They have Stumptown coffee on tap so if that’s your thing this is definitely a great place to get it without having to drive all the way to LA. I went for their coffee of the day — their Hairbender — which had a vanilla and earthy aroma combo. The coffee was great. It was perfectly strong and a small was all I needed to get me through my work.
Later in the day I ordered their vegetarian wrap on spinach tortilla. They definitely pack their wraps and give you your money’s worth. The wrap was really tasty. It includes avocado, egg, tomato, cheese and onion. Their menu is expansive and includes blended drinks, teas, coffees, pastries, wraps and hot and cold sandwiches. They had a delicious-​looking blueberry lemon pie that day that I was tempted to get a slice of.
The music they play is great for studying. It’s a mix of popular classical music songs and low key acoustic sounds. My only wish is that they had more outlets. I only saw one while I was there — though I’m sure there have to be more — and there aren’t any near the middle tables. If you get tired of working or studying, they have plenty of books to read and board games to place. Overall the environment here is relaxed and makes for a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee. I would definitely go out of my way to stop by and get some work done here.
