Never before have I worked with a contractor or crew that came anywhere near this team in terms of expertise, proficiency, creativity, reliability, and trustworthy. They aren’t the cheapest out there, but you truly get what you pay for, and the extra cost you may see when comparing bids is well worth it with Solena Landscape. Mitch and his crew at Solena Landscape have just completed an amazing transformation of my backyard. I selected Mitch after having observed him for several years doing projects in my neighborhood. I was always impressed by his designs and the speed with which projects were completed as well as how the work held up over time. He and his crew went above and beyond my expectations completing a pool remodel as well as all new hardscape and softscape. They remained on schedule, maintained excellent communication, and were respectful of my budget. Mitch’s attention to detail and vision has turned a very dated backyard into a paradise that I will enjoy for many years to come!

We recently moved into a new home which had a pool but no spa. Our project initially started as only wanting to add a spa to the existing pool. Mitch with Solena Landscape came highly recommended to us so we made our first appointment with him. Mitch said when he looked at the address he thought it looked familiar to him. When he arrived at the house he realized that 18 years ago he remodeled the existing pool and backyard (such a small world!). We felt very comfortable with Mitch and his capabilities. Our conversation changed from only adding a spa to the idea of what a complete new design with new pool, spa and hardscape would look like. My husband said to Mitch «give me a „WOW“ factor design and we will go from there.» In our front yard we were in the process of changing our landscape to drought tolerant plants and decided we wanted to also change the hardscape. Mitch said his schedule was really tight but knowing that we had a deadline to meet with the city he said he would make it work for us.
When we meet with Mitch to go over the initial design we were very pleased. He had designed a plan that really did create the «WOW» factor my husband was looking for. But that was not good enough for Mitch. One of the things we really liked about Mitch was midstream, once the front yard project was under way, he came to us and said «I have a better idea for the front yard design» and he was right. He is always thinking of ways to better his projects instead of just taking the easy road. We love his vision and creativity.
The backyard is absolutely amazing! We had several changes along the way and in the end they were worth it all. We truly feel like we are living in a resort. We just can’t say enough about our experience with Solena. Hugo, the foreman on the project, is the best. He was always on the job, very dedicated and has great follow up. All of the crewmembers are very qualified and conscientious and the quality of their work is superb.
John, the pool contractor, and Mitch have been working together for years. They worked side by side and nothing ever fell through the cracks. Mitch and John are both very meticulous and want everything to be perfect for the homeowner. If you ever want a pool and spa only use Solena. Their follow up is excellent!

When we began the undertaking of a new landscape concept for our backyard, it was clear that a well thought out design was critical to its success. One of my primary concerns was that our yard was relatively large and not conventionally shaped. We knew the designer would be challenged in creating the proper flow that would tie in the yard’s shape with the features we were looking for. We also knew that this project represented a major investment and we needed to feel comfortable with the designer.
That’s why we chose to work with Solena Landscape. From our first contact with Mitch, we felt very comfortable with him, not just because of his wealth of knowledge, but also because he was very sensitive to our input. Mitch was very thorough in his explanation of the design process, beginning with a dialogue about our ideas and concepts. He then spend time doing an inventory of measurements, sun/​shade impacts, privacy concerns, theme concepts relative to our home, and basically trying to feel out what we wanted balanced against the palette our yard provided.
Mitch then drew up a basic design and we met again to further process and refine. Again I can’t emphasize his patience with our needs and his gentleness with his recommendations based on our input. We met several more times before completing the design. Every step of the process served to build on the previous meeting. It was a pleasure to have his expertise and guidance as me moved though the design phase.
The end product was a design that incorporated our dreams better than we ever envisioned. We could not have selected a more professional designer. We are very grateful to Solena Landscape in their efforts to make our dream outdoor living space a reality.

Mitch is our Landscape ARTIST!!! I say Artist because that’s exactly what he is. His designs are eloquent, efficient, beautiful and stand the test of time. He has done work for family members in the past and is currently working on our most recent project. Mitch and his staff are wonderful to work with. It is my pleasure to recommend Solena Landscape for all of your landscape design projects.

We moved into a beautiful neighborhood. Our house was nice but needed something more. We got a postcard in the mail from Solena Landscaping, and we decided to contact them because our entire yard (front & back) needed a makeover. At our first meeting with Mitch, we were hooked. He showed up on time, was very professional and spoke with confidence. We liked that he listened to what we had in mind, but since he was the professional, he designed our yard better than we could have even imagined. We had a few «musts» that we asked for, and Mitch went out of his way to provide our small yard with as much «WOW» as possible. We received several other bids on our yard. Mitch was neither the highest nor the lowest, but we were so happy that we went with Solena. His crew was always here working and at the end of the day, they did their best to clean up and put everything in order. It was so awesome to watch the progress of our yard take shape. They even waited for me to get home one day with our granddaughters so we could put their hand prints in the wet cement. (They couldn’t have been kinder and more sincere. That effort scored big points with us.) When we had questions, we were always able to make contact with Mitch or his #1 foreman and the job ran as smoothly as was possible. If we had to call his office, they were courteous and had Mitch contact us ASAP. We have received so many compliments on our new yard as well as the stone work we had done on the front of the house. We later had french doors and a garden window added to the back of the house so that we could really appreciate the beautiful back yard.

After seeing the beautiful project photos on Solena Landscape’s Facebook page, I contacted the owner to draw up plans to redesign our landscaping. Solena is in Southern California and I live in Northern California so our fee included travel expenses which the owner, Mitch, kept very reasonable. The first thing he did was send us a questionnaire to get to know what we were looking for. This was helpful because it forced my husband and I to work out some details between ourselves before Mitch’s visit. Any emails between us were promptly answered. During his visit, Mitch took notes on everything we discussed which in this day and age is rare. Next, we visited the local nursery which he contacted beforehand and he showed me the different plants he had in mind for our home. What our nursery did not have on hand, Mitch showed us on the internet. The care he showed through his organization and research of the local plants, climate, sun exposure, drainage, etc demonstrated to us that not only would he give us plans to make our property beautiful, but his attention to detail will sustain our yard for many years to come. Because of the distance, we unfortunately cannot use his crew. Now it is up to us to hire local contractors. The owner was so kind, letting us know that he will gladly review any estimates to make sure that they are according to his plan and the prices are in line with what are expecting. Yes, I probably could have hired a local to do this, but I had such an easy time working with Mitch and was so impressed by his professionalism that even factoring in travel expenses, it was worth every penny.

Mitch, the owner, had a vision for our courtyard that other contractors were unable to express. It is not a big space, but his design makes it look larger than it is and a welcoming site to anyone who enters the gate. He worked with us on ideas to keep the cost under control and still present the look we were hoping for in the final product. His crew were always on time, quite friendly and always keeping the work space clean, all the while making sure our two little dogs were safe and secure.

Had a yard full of dirt and weeds. Interviewed four different landscaping companies. My wife and I were looking for a professional lanscaper who was creative, professional, reliable, and bonded and liscensed and had an in house crew. We found that in Mitch Kalamian who owns Solena and his hard working crew of professionals. Mitch was very creative during our landscape design which cost us $ 250 for the visit and a hand drawing, but was worth every penny. He was always available to answer any questions and provided a fixed price quote to complete the design plan.
We were lucky and Mitch had a cancellation within 2 weeks of making a decision to hire Solena. Once we hired them they were off and running and completed the entire project in 1 week. We had anywhere from 8 — 12 people working in our backyard all working very hard. You need to be on your toes to stay ahead of the crew. Hugo the foreman of the crew was very capable, knowledgeable, organized, and personable.
Our project consisted of installing a DG area (8 ft by 40 ft), a vegetable box, a fire pit, bringing in fill and leveling the back yard, lanscape design, installing St Augustine sod, setup for a fountain by others, purchasing and planting the plant life, installing the sprinkler and plant watering system, and demo, design, and planting two front yard flower beds.
It came out fantastic and several of our neighbors commented that our landscape project propelled our house to the best in the neighborhood. Best of all we have enjoyed many fun evenings with friends and family both BBQing, sitting out listening to the fountain, and watching the fire in the fire pit.
Solena is not the least cost landscaper, but we received just what we paid for and it was high quality, ahead of schedule, and on budget. If we had to do it over again we would do it the same way. Very satisfied.

We used Solena Landscape for construction on our backyard remodel. Mitch and his crew were professional, easy to work with and attentive to all our needs. Solena constructed a fire pit, built-​in BBQ, concrete patio and patio cover. They also installed new stone on the front of the house. Mitch had good ideas throughout the process that helped us achieve our goals. All craftsmanship was very good, and we are very happy with the end result.

Total self promoting dollar hungry jerks. I call the company tell them what my project entails and they agree to come out and meet me. I meet their representative he takes measurements draws a planning map, understands I want a simple water tolerant design and tells me he will give me an estimate in a few days.
At the end of the day I receive and email telling me that my project does not have enough «wow» factor for them to put their name on my home project. Basically there is not enough money in my project and we want to up sell you so we can self promote ourselves and make more money off of me.

Mitch and his crew and Solena Landscape did an amazing landscape project on our home. From the beginning Mitch was very helpful and insightful in helping us to establish a clear and beautiful vision for the project. He was quickly responsive to any questions that we had before, during, and after completion. The cost was upfront and reasonable for the masterful work that was done on our home. During the project, the crew arrived everyday and worked at an incredibly efficient pace, while producing a high-​quality result. They kept everything neat and clean. Mitch sent me daily progress emails and road-​mapped the tasks that were upcoming. After the project, Mitch and his foreman Hugo came by to make sure that everything looked good, was growing well, and working properly. We love the new look of our home and have received numerous compliments from our neighbors. I can tell that Mitch and his crew take great pride in their work. I am so glad and thankful that I chose them to landscape our home. I would give Solena Landscape my highest recommendation!
