Oliver Twist Chimney Sweep & Air Duct Cleaning

we just bought a new home and it needed a little TLC. My realtor recommended Oliver Twist and I am very happy she did. I had them do some repair work on my Chimney and clean the entire thing including the log set and it was done to perfection. The repair work was flawless and it is sparkling clean, which is quite a feat in a 50 yr old house. Thank you Oliver Twist :-)

Services used twice now!
I have had chimney accessories installed and the fire place cleaned. I have also used the sweep service for ducting. Both times the techs were very professional. They arrived on time and did their job very well. As well as being really nice people. I have no problem using them as long as I have a fire place and/​or ducting!!!

Let me start by saying Dave is a nice guy. But, business is business. In hind site, I do not like they way this company charges $ 125 for an inspection. Learn from my ignorance and save yourself some money — you don’t need to go this route!
I got 3 more «inspections» after Oliver Twist at NO COST and they did the same thing Dave did! One of the other companies was also FIRE Certified. With all due respect, what he did was nothing special. I was told by 2 chimney companies that Oliver Twist tells you that you need to fix much more than you do. That was confirmed by the other 3 companies that gave me estimates. I don’t like this business model. Tell me what is important to repair and also what I can do in the future.
I also didn’t like the way the bid request was presented. It had a total cost of $ 1850 with no breakdown. It did not reflect the discount they offered either. I asked them to resend with a line item breakdown. Their price was pretty steep compared to the others.

They got me in at the last minute, since Sears «didn’t have a tall enough ladder to get to my roof» (I only have a two-​story home) and the vents are on the roof. Anyway so I needed my dryer venting system cleaned out — stat — and O.T. got out and did a fabulous job.
They guys they sent were professional, polite, thorough, and explained and showed me everything before and after. Everything works great.
I highly recommend this company.

If you have a PRECAST CHIMNEY AND FIREBOX with cracks, READ THIS. We had a big problem with our precast firebox and chimney. It had many cracks and was both unusable and unsafe. Before Oliver Twist, we got bids of removing the entire unit and building from scratch another box and chimney. Extremely expensive and also very invasive in my house.
Oliver Twist was fantastic! They came on time, were extremely clean and careful taping the plastic. They scraped out all the cracks, then filled with epoxy injections and then a thermocrete seal. They also sealed the interior fireplace, and re coated it. In addition, they cleaned the chimney, fireplace, and my gas logs. It looks gorgeous. They were finished in ¾ day. It cost a tiny fraction of the tear-​out price. We were so lucky to discover them. Call them first and save your time and effort!

If I could give this company 0 stars I would do so. They came to my house to inspect my 3 fireplaces — two downstairs, and one upstairs which has rarely been used. I was told it needed cleaning anyway. Who was I to argue? While one worker worked on the downstairs fireplace, another worked on the upstairs fireplace in my bedroom. The only way I could keep an eye on both workers was to sit at the top of the staircase which is what I did. The supervisor called me away downstairs and outside before they were finished, to discuss paperwork, and during that time, the employee who was cleaning the upstairs fireplace went into my bathroom, and used the toilet without asking. I found this out after they left because he left the seat up. Since I couldn’t be in two places at one time, I was left vulnerable to having the employee search my drawers or whatever else he felt like doing, besides using my bathroom without my permission. I complained to the manager by phone as soon as I realized what had happened, and all he said he would do with speak to the employee. I would not trust this company further than I can throw it. I realized afterward that they were just trying to make money by cleaning the upstairs fireplace, which really had not needed it.

I’m really surprised to see negative reviews, as my wife and I have been blessed with great service for years. I’ve used them for basic sweeps, air duct service, and a thermocrete. Each time they have offered great service at competitive prices, and any concerns have been handled with the upmost professionalism.

PSYCHIC fireplace inspectors! Yes, they must have ESP because without actually coming to your home or inspecting the fireplace, they just «know» it needs $ 4500 worth of work, which they, of course can do. Maybe on the Astral Plane?
We lost $ 656,000 because their phony fireplace inspection scared off our buyer. They finally came out and did a real inspection, and guess what is really wrong with the fireplace? NOTHING. Too late, the buyers are gone and we are back on the market, at Christmas.
Something else customers need to know: if you get a little mad and use The Bad Word, their delicate sensibilities are so offended that they will not give you the correct inspection report, claiming that you were so awful to them. They probably got back to Huntington Beach and wept into their dainty hankies… at not being able to scam us out of $ 4500.

I received a quote 2 years ago. They quoted me $ 1700 to fix my chimney. I decided to get an additional estimate; when it came in at ¹⁄₃ the cost, I was shocked. Additionally they claim to be certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and member of the National Chimney Sweep Guild but they according to the CSIA, they are not. Save your money and don’t trust someone who gives you false credentials.

The manager of Oliver Twist called me and we discussed my concerns. She was very helpful and listened and was even willing to offer me a complete refund for the job due to the misunderstanding. I appreciate that, I really do. We finally settled on what I thought was «fair.» Based on this customer service, I think it was really just a bit of miscommunication on someone (who i think might be new). All in all, the job got done and got done at what I see as a fair price. Oliver Twist definitely gets a bump in my book.

My husband contacted these guys after visiting their website and going on Unilocal.The reviews were great so we decided to try them out. We figured we could schedule them in for next week, but when they said they had an opening that same day, we figured we could get it done. The gentlemen that they sent out were very knowledgeable and highly efficient in their work. They clearly explained the problem with our air ducts, repaired our chimney damper (the flap that seals off the chimney when the fireplace is not in use), and cleaned our fireplace area in just under 45min. We now know how often to change our filters and have our chimney inspected. They were very helpful to us, and I hope they can be just as helpful to anyone else in the future.

I had no idea who to go to for my chimney sweep/​service/​cleaning. After reading the Unilocal reviews, I called Oliver Twist. The person who answered the phone was very helpful and we scheduled a full chimney service. They came out, inspected the chimney, reviewed with us basic chimney maintenance, went over the condition of the chimney, etc, etc. The 2 man team took about 30 minutes. They were on time (there was a 1 hour window they were going to come and they came on the top of that hour), very professional, clean and honest. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend Oliver Twist to anyone and would definitely use them again.

We were in need of assistance with the fireplaces in our new home and after a search on Google for anyone that could help us I was directed to Oliver Twist… and I could not be happier about it. Steve represented his company with professionalism as he explained to me everything that he was doing and what the problems may be. He was exceptionally helpful and very friendly, unlike many contractors that I have come across. I will be happy to recommend Oliver Twist to anybody in need of their services!

Finally… someone who knows what they are doing and they do it well at a reasonable price. Others have been less reliable. OT came in, repair the fireplace, clean the flue and were very professional; they also made sure everything was cleaned up. Why look anywhere else, they do an awesome job and they know what they are doing.
