Law Offices of William M. Strachan

A while back, my brother unfortunately had to deal with a merciless family disruption. Quite frankly, he was broken from the events taking place, so I naturally wanted to help him find the best divorce attorney in Huntington Beach possible. My due diligence thankfully led me to The Law Offices of William M. Strachan. This lawyer aggressively went to battle for my brother, as he had a lot on the line… From child custody, to property division. Although I suppose there are no happy endings to these types of events, we strongly believe that the outcome was quite favorable, given all that was on the line.

I found William on a last ditch internet search for a Child Custody situation and retained his services without doing any homework and wanted someone locally in Huntington Beach. This was my first dealings with a lawyer so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Overall he was inconsiderate, bossy, told me to my face that I had «control issues» and that I needed therapy, would not meet early for court hearings, had inappropriate locker room style talk about women even while court was in session!!! For our most important court hearing, where we were in a position to get a favorable judge ruling, and instead of finishing the hearing he asked the judge if we can come back the next day because his wife needed him to take her to urgent care. This was his personal issue that he let affect the outcome of an important hearing. Then upon return the next day, we were only in court for less than 30 minutes where he gave in and got a dragged out settlement with multiple future hearings, and then he tried to bill me for 4 hours at $ 350 per hour for that second day. I had to later sit down and explain to him why this is unfair and ask for him to remove most of the hours. Compared to my new attorney, I would say the one word to describe William is «unprofessional». He wouldn’t even review my own notes in court (one page) before a hearing and hadn’t met with me to review anything. In addition I witnessed he and his male paralegal argue and bicker like a married couple while trying to meet with him to review police reports. I would strongly urge anyone to do their homework before hiring this guy.

I have been working with William Strachan for almost 4 years now. Through a very nasty divorce and custody battle, he has been amazing through the whole process. Bill is honest, caring and most of all an expert in family law. His paralegal Mike is fantastic and very thorough. My advice to anyone working with Bill, trust him, do exactly what he tells you to do and it will work out for the best. Today, I have full custody of my 3 children and I know it would not be the case if it wasn’t for the professionalism and skill of my attorney. Thanks again for everything Bill and Mike.

I was actually referred to Bill by an attorney friend of mine who couldn’t handle my case due to conflict of interest. She said he was excellent in divorce cases. I also met and spoke with several other attorneys before retaining Bill.
He is a professional, dedicated and straight forward lawyer who cuts to the chase. He explained everything that the opposing side was going to try to do (and he was right in each scenario) and guided me through the entire process. His paralegal was extremely efficient and kept me up to date with all of the filings and documents that I needed to provide.
Bill was also extremely fair in my billing. He didn’t nickel and dime me when I had questions or for just a quick phone call. His fees were about ¹⁄₃ of my ex wife’s attorney’s bill.
I hope to never have to go through another divorce, but if I do I will call Bill first!

Mr. Strachan has represented me since 1995 in a divorce case in which my ex-​husband has come back numerous times to attempt to have my settlement reduced. Mr. Strachan has always been there for me both in person when I lived in California, and since I moved to another state. He has worked diligently every single time we had to go back to court. More importantly, he won each and every time. He’s been patient when I’ve been in a panic, has always explained everything that needed explaining, and answered any question I’ve had. If I called him when he was with a client or in court, he called me back as soon as he could. And his fees were less than what my ex was paying his attorney!
If there were more than 5 stars to give Mr. Strachan, I would give him more than 5 stars. You will not find a better attorney than William Strachan.

RUN away FAST! I had a horrific experience with this guy! Do your homework, I should have! When I first retained him, I asked why he was no where to found on the internet. That should have been my red flag! Now after I have added my review of him, he has popped up all over with these «Steller» reviews saying he has been in the business for 25 years, but funny how all the reviews are sooooooooo recent. Hmmm???
He neglected to advise me of a court date, gave me NO support or direction prior to mediation, lacks communication skills, and not a very pleasant to work with!
Now I understand why people hate lawyers, and they have such a BAD name, because of ones like him!
In my opinion it doesn’t get any WORSE!
While going through such a emotional time you need someone whom is understanding of what you are going through and explains the process. He is and did NEITHER!
