DO NOT GO TO LAURA DuPRIEST WITH A GROUPON!!!
Worst experience in my life… I felt so discriminated that I was feeling like walking out with my hair full of bleach.
I had got a Groupon for full highlights, cut and treatment, so I schedule my apt with three weeks in advance. I got to the place and she has a form to fill out with all your information, nothing out of the norm. When I arrived she immediately gave me the form and asked me for a picture of what I wanted done with my highlights, so I showed her the picture and she just ridiculed me because of the pictured I showed her. I had colored my hair with a box and it was a dark color, so I was aware that there was not much that could be done to my hair. So, she asked me to wait because she was working on another girl, which is totally normal. I waited for about 10 minutes and she did offered me coffee or water. She even asked me if I did wanted to get the highlights, at this point I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and hopping things would get better. But BIG mistake.
She starts working on my hair and pretty much keeps complaining about how much hair I have… I am okay with it, but do not make it sound so bitchy, plus I do have as much hair as she was saying, no other hairstylist had complained about it. Second of all she is denigrating her own profession talking about how women are being brained washed by the media, hairstylist that just want to make money, and how women want to do all this non sense to their hair, plus pretending to be the top hair stylist (her hair is not that of a hair dresser nor of a model in my opinion). According to her, women should donate all this money to charity instead of spending so much money in hair work… this happens and soon she is going to be part of the people receiving charity.
Okay, so this lecture keeps going on and on, by the way she is talking to the other customers.
So, I am there for three hours and pretty much she kind of ignores me the whole time and when she talks to me her voice had a different tone… lady I am not stupid, I do have a strong accent but that does to mean that I cannot understand. Plus, she is telling me that God gave me black hair and I should be happy with it (I had mentioned before that I had color my hair with a black color box, my natural hair is medium brown but not black as I colored it), she is telling me that a light hair color will not match my skin (I wear MAC NC20, I let you make your judgment, but I had seen people with a darker complexion compared to me and light hair looks really good).
The Groupon was for a hair cut as well but it seems like she is expecting to do trimming only. I had something in mind, but when it was time for the haircut I just asked for a trim because she had been complaining about it as well. To make things way worse for me, I asked her for side bangs and she just cut them straight. At this point, I just feel like crying and running out, but I stayed strong and deal with the issue on my own, because I am sure she was not going to acknowledge that I had asked for side bangs. She seems to be Mrs. Know it all or Mrs. always right.
In summary, I will never ever go back to her or buy a Groupon in the future based on this experience. According to her, she did Groupon to build her clientele (seems like she has been doing this for a while), but her attitude is so negative that it will just drained you and I really do not understand who will go back to her. Plus, according to her she has been doing a lot of work for famous people which I find it hard to understand since she has to rely on Groupon to get more customers.
She did offered me coffee, water and directions for the bathroom a couple of time
There is no air ventilation, the place is hot and it sticks like hair coloring.
Just a few tips:
1. If you have more hair than Gollum, she might not be a fit for you
2. If you have a darker complexion than NC20, highlights are not for you, so do not waste her time.
3. if you enjoy talking while your hair is being done find another hair stylist
4. If you are okay with people complaining about their work, you might like her
5. If you want someone to respect your decisions without making stupid comments about it find another hair stylist
6. If you are expecting a miracle (according to her girls go with her expecting a miracle) go somewhere else.
7. If you enjoyed things being explained to you in a rude manner, she is the person to go to

At last I have finally found my hairdresser, Laura did an amazing job on my hair, I absolutely love it … Since moving here 3 years ago I can honestly say this is the best cut and color I have had, I’ve recommended to everyone who have asked me. Also as well as being an awesome hairdresser this lady is a beautiful person and I’m so glad to have met her X

Laura is amazing! I found her on groupon and she has transformed my life!!! My hair was in serious need of help, she sat and talked with me about what I really wanted with my hair and did exactly that! She also threw in some great pointers and some samples of her products which are amazing! She also is very flexible and always works around my schedule! She is so sweet and genuine and really cares that you are happy and feel beautiful! She truly is a blessing!

Laura did an amazing job on my hair. I got a groupon for full highlights and cut. She was so kind and professional. I even got extensions. I feel gorgeous. Thank you Laura. I 100% recommend you come here for all your hair and makeup needs. I will Definitly be back.

Laura is a god send and an amazingly talented hairstylist. I so appreciate a stylist who works hard, teaches you things as she goes, and is fun to talk to. The little studio she has is a wonderfully peaceful environment. My hair has never felt (or looked) better.

Just took my one year old for his first haircut– Laura did such a great job on my hair, I knew she would be perfect for such a memorable haircut for my son. My husband and I were blown away at her patience with kids. She didn’t start until he felt completely comfortable with her… not to mention she had a lot of cool tricks up her sleeve to keep him distracted. His hair looks awesome, there were no tears, and her price for the cut was really low! LAURA’S THE BOMB!

I came to laura today because my relative bought me a Groupon and can’t wait to go home and thank them. Laura is great, my hair is already looking amazing and I’m not even done. She also educated so much on hair health. Plus she carries her own lane which is amazing. I would definitely come back any time. And totally recommend her ! So nice !!!

I thought I knew my hairstyle pretty well when I walked into Laura’s salon. Turns out Laura knew it as well, only she had a special name for it: «Q-​Tip» Hahaha.
Laura has been styling my hair for almost a year now. My experience with her has been life changing. Her passion, and experience in hair-​styling is amazing. I consider Laura an artist, more than a hairstylist. She is amazing at what she does! I cannot recommend her enough.

I’ve posted a review about Laura before, but I absolutely adore her and HAD to give her another 5 stars– I would give her eleven stars if I could! Not only did she style my hair and touch-​up my makeup for my wedding day, she also made me an elegant white rose wedding bouquet, my husband’s corsage, and additional corsages for some of our family members. But most importantly, she supported me when I needed it most and gave me the confidence boost I needed before my wedding. Did I say that I adore her? I can’t say it enough. I don’t think there’s anything that Laura can’t do. She’s excellent and always has a terrific attitude. xo

Laura is so great! I have long blonde hair and went to her for just a haircut and she is the first person who didn’t try to talk me into cutting 5 inches off. She did an amazing job and my hair feels so healthy and looks really nice. Definitely found my new stylist!

Laura is an amazing stylist. She is a perfectionist and pays attention to every detail. She has years of experience and an eye for what looks good for your face shape. Laura is also just a kind and fun person in general, which makes for an enjoyable time at her salon.

In my many experiences in getting my hair colored and styled, I have never met a more amazing stylist in the industry. I happened to luckily run across Laura on a sales call to her salon and I am extremely thankful that I did!
My hair was in horrible condition with a blondish white band around my head. Laura has been not only been able to correct the color but also transform my hair into a very desirable style. Laura has been able to educate me along the way in how to care for my hair and provide guidance on what styles would fit me the best. I am very happy to have Laura as my go-​to-​stylist and I would recommend her to anyone.

My experience with Laura was awesome! She is incredible at what she does and really explained to me how to take care of my hair well. She also was accommodating to what I was asking for and did not try to cut off more than I wanted, which I very much appreciated!

As a man I often find that getting my hair cut in a salon is… well uncomfortable at best. The experience with Laura is amazing. First, she has a private studio so there are no distractions and no wacky buzz with obnoxious music and loud patrons. She asked what music did I want to listen to and dialed it up on Pandora. Second she listened and then made her suggestions for me to consider. Third, she was meticulous and checked in with me frequently to ensure she was doing what I wanted.
Now for the real clincher. I have always had a problem with the hair on the back on my neck growing up so it’s unruly despite hours of «blow drying instructions» from many stylists. So she suggests a Brazilian Blowout to tame my hair on the back of my head! Guys… a Brazilian Blowout… what…are you kidding me? I’m a 50 something businessman with medium length hair that likes to look natural but tidy in the boardroom. However I must tell you all… I did it because she instilled so much trust. This was the best thing I have EVER done. 2 minutes with a blow dryer and done. Even if I don’t use a blow dryer say after the gym or at the beach, my hair is totally under control.
She has fast Wi-​Fi so if you need to be connected for work, it’s all good. She has her own product line of hair care so she gave me a sample of her new Renaissance Shampoo and Conditioner to try «because it is formulated to work with my type of hair». Well, I’m hooked. I used to spend twice as much on the famous salon brands only to be satisfied with how much I spent, not really any amazing results.
Guys, you need to check Laura out. I promise that you won’t regret it. She will help coach you to look your best and give you a great haircut.

So, after many trips to different hair stylists and a really bad self inflicted bleach/​teal job. I found Laura through my job. Once I mentioned what I did to my hair she told me to come in right away. She is no longer in costa mesa but a more personable, intimate studio at Sola Salon. As we moved along correcting the teal, which had turned to a mallard green, she made time fly by talking to me as well as giving me tips and tricks to help me NOT do this again. She also helped me pick up my spare key since I locked mine in my car. I love my hair now as well as will be back! Also, going to be referring my friends and family!

I absolutely love visiting Laura at her new studio in Sola Salons in Huntington Beach! It feels very special to have your own private setting to come and be pampered by Laura. She is so incredibly knowledgeable and is a fabulous hair stylist and teacher. She even spent time teaching me how to reshape my eyebrows!
Laura doesn’t just do your hair, she also gives you information on the best care and treatments to use at home. I highly recommend Laura as a stylist and as a wonderful woman to talk to!
