Huntington Beach Fun Run UYE

yay, i’m so glad to be a part of the HB fun run crew! I’m usually down here on the weekends running anyway, so it’s nice to change it up and run with other people. The first time I made the mistake of trying to keep up with Amy and the rest of the gang and tired myself out too fast (although it did give me my best mile time, according to my Nike+ ipod thingy). But I don’t like to suffer, so this last time Lisa V and I took it easy and it was much more pleasant! The first one was about a 5 miler, this last one was six, so I’ll definitely be back for #4 and shoot for a 10 miler. Also finding motivation to do the Long Beach Half in October – thanks guys! :)

With a bit of coordinating in the schedules, I managed to go to this fun run this past weekend. I definitely enjoyed my 5+ mile run this past Saturday with the ocean waves lapping the shore, surfers trying to catch the perfect wave and lots of cute dogs running around on the beach. Even though you are running along PCH for the majority of the path, you aren’t sucking down fumes from cars. You really do get to see some beautiful scenery and for the most part have a flat path for the majority of the run. Someone point out the water fountains next time b/​c I definitely missed all of them out there!

Back again this time at 7 in the morning,
This would’ve been my regular time shit, shave, and showering,
This morning we had Rhett, Steph, Lisa, and Amy,
Whatever happened to other missing «I’m in» Unilocaler army?
We waited and finally left, nope not even Jason H showed up,
Was he jogging by himself or maybe he ran in circles as warm-​up?
Four miles into our run, I was out of breath and started to hit the wall,
I slept only 3 hours the night before, that the excuse for my downfall,
I guess I should start training seriously starting today,
Or else you’ll see me in the headlines for the Disney half marathon a month away.

It was the best run ever! Salty sea air, wind blowing in your face… perfect day to be at HB enjoying a Fun Run with awesome people.
I must admit, my tuchas was a bit sore and tender the next day; Nonetheless, can’t wait for the next run with breakfast.

I’m glad to have found other active/​semi active Unilocalers who like to get up early on a weekend to go do something most other people would consider to be ungodly at such an hour.
I’m glad we were able to keep such a high (for me) pace for so long — we stayed mostly together (I had to drop back a little with ¹⁄₃^rd to ½ of a mile left due to a foot problem — almost caught up with everyone though at the very end)
Hrmm, maybe we SHOULD make this a monthly event!
Also, running with a camelback is doable, but I’ll try to avoid that next time.

What a great way to combine two of my favorite pastimes, running and eating, with my fellow active Unilocalers!
I was certainly impressed that everyone ran 8 miles with me for our very first Fun Run. I was thinking we might be able to run 5 or 6 miles at the most, but we all managed to go the distance and stick together almost the whole time.
Does this mean that you’ll want to run 10 miles next month? You know I’m up for it, as long as there’s the promise of breakfast afterward!

What a better way to start your weekend morning!
Yes it’s tough to wake up early, but once you get there and get going it feels great. Especially when you finish your run!
Plus the group of Unilocalers that came out made it that much more enjoyable. The ocean views, people watching and other people exercising add to the great run.
I think Amy’s planning to do another one and another one and another one: P So hope to see many more of you out there… and don’t worry about your speed cuz I’ll be sure to bring up the rear. :-)
