I had my system installed by GCI. I waited till system was installed and running before posting my review. So starting with 5 stars is just the beginning. From start to finish above and beyond exceptional sales and service. Alex Neeley our first contact and visitor to discuss the ins and outs of solar. Very knowledgeable and helped with every and all questions, and believe me there were quite a few. The installers were all very professional and did excellent work. Equipment is up to date and offers the best the industry has to offer. Monitoring system is a definite plus with the wifi connectivity to observe and follow outputs to assure we are using the most solar available. Rebates that are still available make going solar pretty easy to convert to financially as well. If you have been thinking about solar, GCI should be a definite contact for you. We have been extremely pleased thru the whole process and honestly I don’t believe there was ever a negative issue from start to finish. Now not to mention the three dollar electric bill… priceless! Solar works, solar saves. Go solar you won’t be disappointed.

Just about every individual I’ve dealt with in this company has been very respectful and professional in their demeanor. However, as a team, they have NOT been good. My first system was undersized. I purchased more panels 6 months ago and they are still not operational due to many unresolved issues. Of course, the issues are everyone else’s fault, not GCI’s. None the less, my new panels are not providing me with electricity. They were also installed on a different/​newer rack system (relative to the first set of panels), so they don’t even match. This is something I insisted on with the salesperson when I bought the second set.
I’m very frustrated with this company. I have neighbors approaching me regarding my PV system, and in good conscious, I just cant recommend this company. While it was the «best deal» back when I bought them, the trouble I’ve gone through, time on the phone, and little issues I’ve had to deal with have made it «not worth it».
Again, as individuals, they are «nice». The roof top installers were polite, genial and fast. Just as a team, they need work.

I received an aggressive telemarketing call in July 2015 from GCI Solar — which is illegal because my number has been on the Federal Trade Commission National Do Not Call Registry since 2003. When I informed the telemareketer that he was harassing me and not to call again, he responded that he would not remove my number from their list until I VERIFYED MY IDENTITY. I hung up and received ANOTHER call from GCI Solar later the same month. At that time I reported the violation the FTC and am writing this reveiw so that if you are considering solar you will be aware aware of GCI Solar’s illegal actions and lack of respect for consumer rights. Do you really want to do business with some like that?

I bought my system; no lease. My electric bill went from $ 300/​month to $ 12. The panels work great and I really enjoy watching a negative reading on our watt hour meter. GCI was easy to work with. The contractors arrived on time and completed the work on schedule. My only issues were with the city permit folks and PG&E taking their sweet time in signing off on the project.

GCI solar… read the fine print… rate goes up every year… when asked was told to reread the contract but the salesman said it would never go up!!!
Also, there is no way to get out or take it off!!!
Greenday finance will not let you pay with out a charge unless the take it out automatically… even if it is auto pay from your bank!!!

GCI Installed our Panels 2 years ago. Our true up is thru the roof. We have not changed out heating or cooling temp at all. We have tried several times to get this issue looked at and there customer service tells us someone will call you back. Never receive a return call.

Their sales person totally mis-​represented what was being delivered, and what to expect. Don’t make my mistake… have your lawyer read the fine print. Biggest mistake of my life going with them!

GCI solar was extremely helpful from start to finish. They had competitive pricing that I thought was fair and would gladly recommend them to my friends and family!

Went with GCI in October of 2014. After going through the finance and sales side the solar was installed in about a month. After that it took a few days and they took care of the final inspection with the city. I was very pleased with the efficiency of GCI Solar everyone was very courteous and i will definitely refer all my friends and Unilocalers to GCI Solar.

I love having solar but the installation and customer service from GCI is horrible. We had to miss 3 days from work because they could not get their installation past inspection. We now have fuse and circuitry issues that we never had before. I wish that I would have used a local company and had all my lights and fuses working.

We got our solar panels in 2012 & have been satisfied up until today. We were told by the sales rep that if we had to remove the panels for a new roof our cost would be $ 500.00. We need a new roof & now they want to charge us $ 2,500.00. Took us several attempts to reach someone Poor customer service…

I contracted GCI because a friend of mine had solar installed by them and they had only great things to say. I have to say my experience was the same. They were quick, professional and CLEAN! I couldn’t believe it only took the crew 1 day to install the whole system! I don’t know if this is normal but I was impressed. Thanks GCI for doing a fantastic job and finishing ahead of time!

They called me at home, an unsolicited call, despite my home number is in the National DO NOT CALL List.
If they can’t follow this law, what kind of work will they do for you?

I shouldn’t have been surprised to find all these 1 star reviews on this company.
My answer will be the same and I am FED up with these spamming phone calls. Not only do they spam phone calls after over SIX MONTHS of repeated rejection to do business with them, they still have the audacity to come at my door step uninvited (even when it’s dark out? lol?). I would like to say, No, thank you. Please remove my phone number that you have called, more than once day, off your phone call list. I don’t even know where you got the number from and my personal information should have been disclosed and not spread to unwanted random solicitors.
I have tried to call and no one answered. When I pick up the phone, most of the time, no one speaks and immediately hangs up the phone. I never thought I’d ever have to write this review and I’m still amazed at how many 5 stars it has. I’m not asking for a reply to this Unilocal review saying that they haven’t done any of these things, I just wish they would STOP calling and stop banging my windows to offer me their product when i have rejected politely many times and that would be very much appreciated. I will also call again tomorrow to make sure this company does not hang up on me and remove me off their list.

Ok so I have to admit when I was first contacted by the rep from GCI Solar I was a bit nervous about the whole process, I mean after all I knew this was going to be a major installation done on my home and everybody knows with a project like this there is always a chance for something to go wrong.
Shortly after starting the project and interacting with the staff at GCI Solar it was obvious, I was in good hands. The installers were very professional and the office staff was very patient and helpful with all my questions and concerns.
I highly recommend these guys if you are considering solar!

Like many others here, I got an unsolicited call from one of GCI’s telemarketers. I was in the middle of politely requesting that they remove my number from their call list, as I wasn’t interested in their product or service. Before I could finish my sentence, I was abruptly hung up on.
Very rude, hostile, and unprofessional. And I am sure that they couldn’t care less about the rapidly deteriorating tone of the reviews they are getting here. Companies like this are a disgrace.

Someone named «Jeffrey» called me from this company. It was an uninvited telemarketer call. He was incredibly rude and insulting. After explaining to him that I wasn’t interested, he actually cursed at me and disconnected the line.
Note to GCI – people like Jeffrey should be fired. They are ruining the reputation of your business, as evidenced by the negative reviews on this page.

The rudest and most snide telemarketers.

An uninvited telemarketer called me this morning from this company and began running through his spiel with me, asking me if I paid more than $ 100 a month for my power bill. I said, «Yes, of course I do, but I’m not interested in whatever you’re trying to sell, so please remove me from your list.»
He interrupted me and started haranguing me about how he’s just trying to help out folks with their power bill and continued to insistently talk over me, telling me how «We’re just trying to help you, ma’am,» over and over again. I asked him again to please take my number off his list and never call again, and that I am on a Do Not Call list, and I do not respond to telemarketers, but he continued haranguing me. He finally repeated the name of his company for me (after my multiple requests) and then disconnected me. Fine with me.
Personally, I would never do business with a company that approaches people in this manner. I found him to be pushy, abrasive and annoying. Of course, he probably thought the same thing about me, but he’s the one who interrupted my busy day with his obnoxious call.
Here’s a question: If you wanted to install solar at your house, wouldn’t you ask your neighbors, friends, get referrals, do some research and then contact a couple of recommended companies in your area… instead of signing up with a pushy telemarketer from out of your area? Duh.
**As an additional note, several hours later I contacted GCI directly at their Huntington Beach office, and «Sarah» apologized for the call and said she would make sure to remove my number from the list. She said «we routinely scrub against the DNC list, so I have no idea how this call got through,» and promised to «look into this.»
Of course, when I had earlier tried to call back the number displayed on my phone, to verify my removal from their list, my return call could not go through. Spoofed caller ID, I presume.
