First off, let me say I take very seriously any review I am leaving of this nature. Normally if an issue or problem with a company providing a service like this comes up, I am quite capable of talking with them and getting a satisfactory resolution. In this case only 1 word can describe our experience with Fox Construction… Nightmare! I hired Kurt to do a remodel of my condo that had been used as a rental for a while with the intention of moving back in myself when it was finished. Kurt was never able to get any portion of the job done in the time frame he quoted all the while trying to get me to add additional work to the bid I never had any intention of doing. He was not able to keep all his lies straight, he will say whatever he thinks necessary at the time with absolutely no intention of keeping his word and if you question him he becomes very confrontational. It all seems to stem around him trying to get as much money up front as possible while providing as little work as possible. As a busy professional I could not be in the location daily nor do I feel I should have to when paying so much money to have the job done right. There was significant amounts of time where no one would show up to the job for days, I had my cousin whom lives in the same complex stop in as often as possible, Kurt always had an excuse, everything from family emergency to he was waiting 5 days for the city to send out an inspector and nothing else could be done without the inspection, I called the City of Huntington Beach and made inquiries as to the time frame for inspections and was told 24 – 48 for what we needed. Even though he had been able to get about 75−80% of the total cost of the job to that point it was months past the original quoted completion date and things were still not even close to being completed, I had to fire Fox Construction and hire another professional contractor. So glad I did, as we found many problems with the work that had been preformed. everything from electrical issues to drywall issues to plumbing problems, some things had to be torn out and redone (bathroom tile was so poorly installed, when removed we found out the wrong drywall had been used for wet environment), other issues like bedroom drywall problems (2.5″ gaps between sheets that had been filled with mud) were able to be fixed /​patched. just now getting the job completed and found out Fox Construction is no longer allowed to work within the complex my condo is in, many more significant issues were a problem over the course of his time on my project, my attorney is working on this as I write this review and we will be going forward with appropriate legal action to recoup the money this guy took. just hoping i can save someone else a huge headache here.

My experience with Kurt Fox construction has been a difficult one for sure. It started with the demolition. He decided it was a good idea to dispose of asbestos in the trash can, well the hazardous waste folks weren’t too thrilled about that. Delayed the project about three months.
Then when things finally started getting rolling again, he installed the wrong colored cabinets. Had to order the correct cabinets which of course took a month or so to order.
Then he did the tile work in the bathrooms. Looks like it was done by a 5 year old. Cracks in the grouting, lines aren’t straight, tile work isn’t flat, fixtures aren’t sealed properly, grout color is mismatched in spots, and tiles weren’t even cleaned after grouting. Bathrooms will likely require complete remodel to avoid getting mold, but he said «yeah it wasn’t the best but should be okay».
Then a relatively easy task, install a condenser, he also couldn’t get right. He installed a 1.5 ton R-​22 heat pump when the contract said 3 ton R-​410a condenser. Oh and did that installation NINE months after the completion of the rest of the project. Now the condenser needs to be replaced and he won’t return my emails or calls… Looks like I’ll be stuck with the bill on this one.
Final finishing… He’s left holes in the side of my house, my garage, and my ceiling. Detail work isn’t really his thing as evidenced by the awful tile work.
Buyer beware!

Kurt recently completed a kitchen remodel for my husband and I in Huntington Beach. We have worked with various contractors for the past three years since owning our home and Kurt is by far the best. What sets Kurt apart from the rest is his genuine concern for doing a good job. He truly cares if the work is done right and his clients are happy. I am very detailed oriented and particular and Kurt was always patient with my requests and took the time to make things right. We hired Kfox Construction for our kitchen project because he did a great job of listening to our vision and turned it into a detailed estimate with a breakdown of where all the money was going. The quote itself was exactly what we wanted to spend even though we never told him our budget.
The work itself was quality workmanship. We couldn’t have asked for better. We told him all the selections for materials by retailer and part number, and he acquired them without any hassle for us. The work was completed on schedule and on budget according to the contract.
And now we have a great kitchen! Thanks Kfox. We will call you again when we are ready to do our bathroom project.

I found Kurt by interviewing 5 different contractors for our kitchen remodel we were doing. We had to deal a bit with insurance and he was completely patient while we did that! Kurt does 98% of the work himself. He was great to deal with, honest and trustworthy. We are keeping him on file — most definitely for additional work we would like to do! Kurt recently installed laminate floors in my condo, both downstairs and on my stairs. They look absolutely gorgeous! He had to deal with a difficult (read: complete bitch) of a neighbor who kept calling the cops on him for doing perfectly legal construction work in the middle of the day, as well as working around shoddy prior construction of my stairs. He ended up having to rebuild several of them, which increased the price beyond the original estimate, but that wasn’t his fault. He is a really good guy and a very hard worker!

Recently we had the bathroom floors in our 3 bathrooms tiled by Fox Construction. We are very pleased with the results and would definitely use this company again when we continue with more remodeling.
The work was done in a timely manner at a reasonable price. Kurt Fox was very honest and trustworthy throughout the entire remodel.
We highly recommend Fox Construction for their workmanship, professionalism, ethics and integrity.

I had stopped writing reviews for Unilocal since February because of its deceptive and predatory trade practices. However, I’m breaking the silence for Fox Construction because it truly deserves a praise.
I got a notice from my HOA (Don’t you hate those Nazi Home Owner’s Assoc?) that I needed to repaint my wrought iron gate and window shutters. I thought about doing it myself but I was just too busy. The HOA didn’t give me a lot of time to take care of the ‘offense’. If you live in a community with HOA, you know the horror stories. Thus, I decided to hire a pro who knows what to do quickly and also wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Luckily a friend knew Kurt and highly recommended him. I called and Kurt came over to do an estimate the next day.
The quote he gave me was 20% cheaper than another quote I got but that was not the only reason I hired Fox Construction. I wanted to make sure the job was done right and it was. Kurt went to the store and got the matching paint. He even restored the decorative metals on the shutter to its original color. (We got lazy the last time and just painted them the same color as the shutter). I was so impressed with his work I had him walked around the house and patched all the cracks on the stucco walls. He also cleaned out a part of the outside wall that was molded due to obstructed gutter.
Kurt has extensive construction experience and can do just about anything in and out of the house. If you have a project you need done for your house, call Fox Construction. He is honest, thorough, dependable, and professional. Most of all, his charges are very reasonable. Trust him with your home remodeling project and you won’t regret it.
