«The trouble with law is lawyer» — Clarence Darrow. I was looking for a Vietnamese lawyer for an older family member because she has language barrier. I was introduced to Dave by his assistant Michelle. Dave seemed very busy and talked to me for around 15 minutes. He told me that he needed an installment of $ 2500 up front and he would send a monthly itemized bill to explain what services he provided. My family member saw him after and we decided to go with his rate of $ 150/hr and gave him the installment. However, my family member did not receive any monthly bills from Dave. Three months later, we were informed that all the money are used up and we need to give more if we continue using his service. We were quite shock and asked for the bills. They finally gave us one. I felt the money and trust were being misused because there are things we could have done ourselves but Dave did not inform us. Our service was involved a Real Estate agent and Dave never gave us our agent phone number. Every time my family needed to contact the agent, she had to go through Dave and that cost money. I felt my family member was being taking advance of because of her language barrier. It is already stressful to face legal matters, especially with language barrier. Dave did not make the experience any better. The money definitely went to waste.
