This Chile Verde location is a good representation of the other Chile Verdes that I have been to; Clean, brightly decorated and very basic fare. I’ve never felt they had the best food, but they fill a nice niche of better quality Mexican fast food. None of the refinement or service of a full service dine-in restaurant, but still leaps better than Taco Bell’s or Del-Taco’s prefabricated Mexican-ish food. One of my favorite aspect of these better quality Mexican fast food places is that they usually have a salsa bar to dress up your food. Chile Verde is no exception and this one has a decent salsa bar with some lemons, jalapeños and hot or mild salsa. The salsa doesn’t break into my top 5 salsas, but this is definitely not the sauce in a packet crap. I had the chicken taco and enchilada combo special. It came with a free drink for about $ 7 so it was a pretty good deal. The chicken taco was very good. They make a traditional style hard shell taco where they fry a fresh corn tortilla and they are generous with the cheese and tomato. Often times a lower quality place would overload the lettuce and give only a shred of cheese. The chicken is shredded and has a nice texture but maybe a little bland. Generous application of salsa goes a long way. The enchilada was also good but I must preface it that I don’t normally order this so they had a bit of a uphill battle. That being said, I still enjoyed it. The plate came with a small basket of chips and refried beans and Spanish rice. The rice was very good and the beans were good enough. A huge plus for me, this place has orange bang! And they use the tiny little ice pellets so you can practically make a shaved ice treat! The seating area is pretty good and everything was clean and new. Lots of tables for both 2 or 4 people. The tables were all made up of the two person kind, so you could always make a bigger group by grabbing more. I’m sure no one cares about tables, but I hate it when you go someplace and they have like all these weird shaped tables where you have to share with a stranger or you waste like 4 seats. Overall I feel like Chile Verde makes a great lunch spot or a place for a quick bite. However they have a lot of competition in the area so this location may need to step up their game to differentiate themselves.

This place is great and being a new establishment, I wish it well and for it to thrive. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is just like homemade. The actual chili verde is amazing, my huband likes it in a burrito. I love their huevos rancheros, and it comes with agreen sauce which is a nice change to the typical red. My son gets the kids burrito plate and asks for it wet. He is only 5 and eats the whole thing and asks me all the time to take him there. You must give this place a shot as it will probably become one of your regular spots!

The first couple times I came here they were just so-so. Truthfully, the only reason I came back was that they have my favorite kind of ice(the little pellet kind) and Orange Bang(it’s like drinking a creamsicle!). But the service has definitely gotten much better and the California burrito is delicious! Their salsa is pretty good, too. There are a few other Mexican places around here that I would rather go to I’d if we’re actually going«out to eat»; but this is definitely a great place for a quick meal and I’d definitely rather eat here than the SuperMex down the street.

I’d probably never go out of my way to eat here if I didn’t live so close. That said, the food is decent, reasonably priced, and the service is adequate if a tad slow. The crown jewel of this place has to be the salsa bar. It’s not like they offer much beyond the standard 2 – 3 levels of spicy or any exotic favors. But what they do have is some delicious salsa. Pour some over their bland breakfast burrito and it transforms it into a fiesta en la boca. If you’re in the area and hungry, check it out.

I have had good experiences here and one pretty terrible one. The food has been very good, i am a big fan of the shredded beef taco, the rice is very good as well. The salsas are both delicious, downside to that is that they only have tiny cups that make it hard to dip a chip into. I have been here I would say 5 times, 1 very good customer service experience, 3 nondescript experiences and 1 terrible. I do not like to use Unilocal just to complain about a place, but the one troubling thing is that is there is no manager, owner, etc. So you get the counter employee or the cook. I am sure it saves money that way but when you have a problem their is no where to go. I brought my brother and my kids here for lunch one day, we ordered meals for all of us. Our food was brought out at several different times. However both my brother and I got our food first a few minutes later, my daughters got their food. My son who had ordered a quesadilla got his last, a few minutes after my brother and I finished. I tried to explain this to the woman working the counter, she told me they had a large to go order before us. I told her that we weren’t complaining about waiting but rather that if the meal was staggered in its delivery that the kids should have come out first. Not only did she not acknowledge this, she didn’t even offer a reply. Left a very sour taste in my mouth. I haven’t been back since, when a place handles things a problem so poorly it leaves me with little desire to return. Especially when there are a thousand mexican places in a 10 mile radius.

This restaurant is hard to find because it is in the back of a strip center and isn’t easily visible from Beach Blvd. But it is worth the extra effort to find it. I had the chimichanga and thought it was very good. The portions are a good size and the food is well prepared and traditional Mexican fare. No Tex mex cuisine here. My grandson, who is 8, had a ben and cheese burrito and he declared that this is his favorite mexican food place. The service is friendly.

they have dolla tacos like all the timeeeeee! carne asada burrito was most satisfying. seriously, i don’t think i said a word. just ate. stuffed my face. i went on a saturday afternoon and it was empty. they’ve been open for about 6 months now, but location wise it’s kinda hidden. i wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people didn’t even know it was there. i really hope their biz picks up, cause i’d be sad if they went out of business ;[

My wife and I went there a couple of weeks ago, and even though it is not«unique», the food is good. It is a casual place. So come as you are. I wish they served at least beer. I hope they make it, as they are tucked away in the shopping center and hard to see from the street.

This place is difficult to see from Beach blvd. It’s behind the Starbucks and next to Kragen. There arent many choices in HB for bomb mexican food so my family decided to try this spot. The menu is similar to Super Mex and we didn’t know what to order. The enchiladas are pretty good and if your a Super Nacho lover like myself I recommend that. The price is affordable and even better if you bring coupons. They are frequent in the weekday ad’s and sometimes in the pennysaver. When they first opened it was pretty empty but it’s starting to get some business. Don’t expect authentic mexican food but it will satisfy your craving.

Authentic? No. The food was very simple and a bit bland. Maybe that’s why the mild salsa is a bit spicy. Cheese enchiladas; nothing special. Shredded beef tacos were pretty good, but small. Pepsi products; not Coke. We probably won’t return.

Good stuff! The food was very authentic. The price was reasonable and I think we will be putting this place in our families normal rotation of places to eat. I had the taco, and I felt like Anton Ego the food critic in «Ratatouille» when he took the first bite of Remmies creation.

So I have been getting flyers for this place in my mailbox for a few weeks now and ignored them because i assumed it was going to be a «El Torito» style of food due to the fact that it is a chain of locations and it just looked a little cheesy(not in a good way)…then i find myself in the area with some time to kill before an appointment and they were the closest food option so i went for it… and I am glad I did because the food was surprisingly good and very much like my own homemade mexican food(yes, I am mexican-american). The only draw backs for me were that they did not have a «medium» salsa option(big deal), luckily a girl at the next table suggested i mix the mild & hot and it worked perfectly, and they serve breakfast but don’t open until 10am(huh?). The staff was friendly, service fast and tacos were nicely done with good quality white meat chicken and shredded beef inside along with perfect refried beans and fluffy simple spanish rice. They have a weird location hidden in a strip mall behind a starbucks and next to a fantastic sams but it’s worth the search. I have yet again learned the valuable lesson not to judge a book by it’s cover… or it’s frijoles by it’s flair. =)

Came back for fajitas today… very good at a nice price. Still not busy, why someone would choose the nearby Taco Bell over this place is beyond me. But then I recently sat next to a bunch of uneducated Tea Party people at an HB public meeting and their anger and hatred is beyond me too. At least I know where Wal-Mart shoppers come from :)

Went to this place yesterday. Honestly, it’s tucked away and kind of hard to see. The place was empty, which is surprising for a Saturday night. The food: The wife and I ordered a chimichanga(as I’m always interested to see if restaurants can actually get this dish right), chili verde(pork) and chicken, and we also picked up a cheese enchilada for the little one. First, I’ll say that this is one of few places that actually put cheese on the inside. Most others I have to request them to put cheese inside, so that’s a plus for me. The green chili salsa on the chili verde was great, but the pork was tough. My wife enjoyed her chicken chimichanga, and when I tried, I was also satisfied. It’s more flavorful and the meat is much more tender. The cheese enchilada was pretty standard. Nothing remarkable about it, to be honest. More than likely won’t try this place again as the menu listing was fairly standard of any Mexican restaurant(your standard tacos and burritos, all being made the same way, just with different meats). There’s no imagination behind the food.

Worst Mexican food I have had in years. Who puts a tortilla inside a chili relleno? The sauce was watery & flavorless. There did not seem to be any egg in it either. Sad. The taco was nothing to talk about either. Bland meat and greasy. The hot sauces were weak tasting. This place is inside the same space that Dickie’s was in. I think it is a Bermuda triangle of food shops. This place won’t last selling junk like what I had. P. S. I would have been the first to review this slop shop, but Unilocal took forever to list this place. I will never eat there again.
