History

Established in 2002.

John and Mary Lou purchased Gibboney’s Country Store from Don & Carole Gibboney in 2002 and operated it in the village of McAlevy’s Fort for five years. The store expanded in 2007 to improve parking and add restaurant seating by relocating to Lakevue Farm just ¾ mile east of McAlevy’s Fort. The farm, purchased in 2003 from John’s parents, is a dairy farm with the Couch’s milking 70 registered Holsteins and raising young stock for replacement and marketing. The farm has been in the Couch family since 1952, when John’s grandfather purchased it. We hope you enjoy your visit to our store, the country scenery, food and visitation. Anyone is welcome to tour the farm and see how milk is produced. We are here to serve you the customer, and welcome your comments and input.

Raised a farm girl with parents and 10 siblings in a three bedroom house in the rural community of McAlevy’s Fort. Married my High School sweetheart in 1977. We raised 3 boys and now have a daughter-in-law and 3 granddaughters. Like to read, sew, Quilt, milk cows and spend time with family and friends. Always looking for new ideas to try and organizing events.
