The Atascocita Barbershop

Excellent barber shop! Jason did a fantastic job on my husband’s hair & beard! The wait wasn’t bad because Jason does quality work on each person. My husband will be a regular customer of Jason’s from now on even though the drive from Porter to Atascocita is long!

Brought my son here. He’s 13 (soon to be 14). We waited a bit (2 were seated getting their hair cut). He asked for a side part, short. He got what he asked, but the cut was more for a teen or older that would do the upkeep of styling it or needing to gel it. If you just let it hang, not so good looking. Guess next time ask for a maintenance free side part, if there is such a thing. :-) Might go back for another chance.

Long review:
I live in New Mexico and was visiting family in the Humble area. I will be writing my review from the perspective of and outsider, looking at the shop, interactions, price, and of course, the shave and haircut.
I needed a haircut and shave. My brother-​in-​law suggested this place and so we came. I would highly suggest this to anyone looking for a cut, shave or a regular barber.
It is that good.
Shop settings: the shop has nice sofas and recliners in the store. Lots of room and a tv for viewing. Not on top of the other patrons.
Interactions: kids are welcome here and seemed to look forward to their haircut. A particular patron walked in and was known by name and his haircut style was also known without him having to say a word. If I wanted to talk to the barber, he would, or if I preferred to sit in silence he didn’t bother me. It was well appreciated. He was pleasant and friendly and not an annoyance or superficial.
Price: I paid $ 30.00(not including the tip) for both a hair cut and shave. This price is well within reason.
The cut: He cut my hair in a very professional and timely matter. It only took him about ten minutes to have my hair finished and done. It is well cut and even. He did as I asked and even helped me to clarify exactly what I wanted.
The shave: this was my first time with a straight razor and I have to be honest, I wish I lived in Atascocita so I could come back regularly for shaves. He started by trimming up the beard with an electric razor and making sure he understood what type of beard I desired. He then reclined me and placed a hot towel on my face, making sure it wasn’t too hot for my comfort. After, he then applied the warm shaving cream and began to shave. He has professional and never once made me fell any discomfort. He then finished with after shave.
This is a barber who is looking to give his customers the best experience possible. I’d strongly recommend this location for all your future and regular needs.

I drive over 30 minutes and usually have over an hour wait for this haircut and beard trim. That in it self should say enough. Jason takes very good care of me every time. I trust him and don’t even have to give him much instruction. As long as this shop is open I will get my haircut here.

Jason and Andrea are top notch. Would like to see more chairs in operation on Saturdays. 2 empty chairs on Saturday keeps long time customers waiting quite long

Fantastic cuts, great service, friendly staff so why 2 stars?
Well owner is rarely there which leaves only one or two barbers, one of which (name omitted to save the embarrassment) I would never allow to cut my hair again after two consecutive butcher jobs, so this leaves one GREAT barber (she is awesome) and the owner (who is also Fantastic but rarely there). Be prepared for long waits!!!
Jason (owner) Please get other qualified barbers as its not desirable to hangout for HOURS to get a haircut and your barber in station 3 should never be allowed to cut anyone’s hair.

The best haircut I got in my 7.5 years of US stay — Hands down. I am in a habit of trying different hair cutting place until I find the one that suits me. Certainly, I am hooked to this place and I hope they will maintain the same quality next time. They did the fine job with minimal instruction. Since I grew up in a very different part of the world, my hair cutting needs and tastes and my hair type are not very common. I was turned opposite to the mirror the whole time and didn’t have any idea what’s going on. But I was totally surprised by the results once I looked at myself. The whole team here is super professional, cordial and smart. Did I say that, I drove 20 minutes to get to this place? — totally worth it!

Great shop to get a double zero fade! All barbers are worth giving a shot. Jason built a great team to represent his Barber Shop.

Love this place. There is usually a wait but it’s well worth it. All barbers are super friendly and extremely good at what they do I don’t mind going to anyone working that day. On the way in today my son even said he loves coming here because they talk to him lol.

My boys and I have been looking for a real barbershop and found one here. They do great haircuts and trim the goatee’s. They clean the back of your neck with the traditional straight razor.
No more supercuts for us!

I’ve been going to this place for a couple of years now. Started with Jason, but Andrea, who did my haircuts at Sports Clips for a few years moved over to Atascocita Barbershop. So, she is doing my hair again.
The place is very clean, they upgraded the furniture and is quite comfy while you wait. They are very busy on Saturdays, so go put your name on the list and go run some errands… but it’s totally worth it. The price is pretty competitive for other places around the «Big A»
Give them a shot… if you can’t wait for Jason, try the others… Andrea is very good, fun and honest… she’s not shy about giving you her opinion if something will work or not.

It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a barbershop and I really enjoyed this one. The environment is good and the use a razor to sharpen up the hairline and the babers were freindly.

Jason does a good job. He is quite and collected. He knows what he is doing. Great haircut.

What a great traditional barber shop. Natasha takes great care of me. I’ve been going to her for a while. She’s very detail oriented and it’s always perfect!

First of all I’m pleased with my haircut which was not done by Jason. Most reviews on here say Jason is the man to see but My first experience is that Jason is a D***. And because of his lack of good customer service I won’t be coming back. The other reviews lead me to believe I may have caught him on a bad day but if you’re going to treat first time customers like they don’t matter because you’re having a bad day then stay home.

Ask for Jason. This guy is a pro. I get my haircut weekly and went from place to place until I came here. Best haircut I’ve ever gotten is right here. A real haircut at a supercuts price. Can’t talk this place up enough.

I was visiting from Philly and needed a cut BAD! Followed a bunch of Unilocal reviews and made a great decision. Come see Jason! He asked me a few questions about what I wanted, I showed him a pic of my last cut and I couldn’t have been happier. In you need a fade, trim or straight razor shape up; this is the place to be!

I first went here about 6 months ago, and now it’s my spot to get my cuts done.
My advice, ask for Jason. He’s quick, accurate., and really good a fades. Though I haven’t had one yet, I’ve also seen him give straight razor shaves. Maybe one day I’ll brave one.
There are a few leather couches to chill on until it’s your turn in the chair with large TV to watch as well. Helps pass the time.
