We had a party of 15 for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is very outdated and smells like mildew since they recently got water in the restaurant from the flooding. The food was decent, but the fried shrimp were small. The reason I gave it a 1 star is the checkout process was a nightmare. We had 5 separate checks and it took approximately 45 minutes for everyone to pay. My credit card was charged twice and the debit card of another person in our group was lost and the waitress accused of her of never giving it to him when I personally witnessed her handing it to him. The waiter was very snippy and had major attitude when we all were trying to pay. My two cents are save your money and go to Pappas Seafood where the quality of the food, restaurant, and customer service are excellent every single time.

As a gluten free diner, I don’t often have very high expectations for many restaurants. I was so surprised to find quite a few options for me here. More importantly, they have gluten free gumbo!!! It is fabulous. Sometimes, I go there just for that delicious bowl of heaven. I heard they added a gf strawberry cake too! This place is pretty high on my list now. Oh, yea. Did I mention the view is amazing too!

These must be old reviews! Our experience was great! Very good find! It’s always great to be on the lake! Fresh fried shrimp, flour battered. Fries, tartar sauce salad, homemade chips, hush puppies… all yummy. We will be returning soon. Decently priced! They have a live band on Sunday’s from 2p-6. Dock near by for boats. Greatest thing for kiddo… They give the kids popcorn to feed the ducks etc! My son was thrilled! I knocked one star off since our sons grilled chicken was undercooked. They had cut it in slices, so it should’ve been obvious. I over heard the waitress talking about their homemade desserts. We were too full to try though.

Yummy margaritas! Our waitress, Tori, was so friendly and knowledgable. The place looked spotless. Our first time here, but we will be back.

We just went this past weekend. Fried catfish and shrimp are great. Their salad dressings are great, but would be even better with a good mixed green salad, rather than iceberg. Hush puppies were better than usual. They make a great lemon drop martini. The best waitress is Diana. We were given popcorn to feed ducks. It’s a great little local place. Nothing to write home about. I’ve often thought they could really take in the bucks with some updates and music nights. But I think they must be happy with the status quo

I have been here a few times… I love the raw oysters. And the blackened chicken sandwich on the lunch menu… This is our favorite local place to eat raw oysters

If you are in the mood for the freshest gulf shrimp anywhere, then you must try Cedars restaurant on a Wednesday night. They have all-you-can-eat shrimp and they are top quality. Butterflied and then fried… The shrimp or so fresh you. Still taste saltiness of the ocean. Love this place.

Excellent locally owned restaurant. Wait staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Sat on the patio over looking Lake Houston. Nothing fancy for décor. Just a great meal. Had the fried catfish.

If I could give this place a zero I would. We have been eating at this place for 2 decades now and we will never go back. The quality of the food now is awful, the cook doesn’t know how to properly prepare seafood and leaves the food raw. We think it’s even kept and wrong temperatures as it smelled raw and spoiled. They have jacked up their prices which is now comparable to a five star luxury restaurant. My husbands stuff shrimp was extremely small and was served on a small child’s plate. The manager gave us an attitude when I tried to return my food untouched as it was raw and smelled spoiled. She made like she was doing us a favor by taking the meal off our bill when I didn’t even eat the disgusting under cooked spoiled food. They just lost very loyal, long term customers. Never again.

Service was extremely slow. Upon entering the hostess blew me and my family off and became visibly agitated. Even refusing to speak, then grabbing two menus and lazily walking us through the restaurant. I asked her if she was having a bad day, which she responded that she was tired. Waitress then came to our table, and after making fun of our drink selection proceeded to tell us how all the waitresses had gone out the night before had gotten drunk so we would have to excuse the slow service as they were all tired. The staff seemed to have an entitlement attitude geared toward we were supposed to take whatever they felt like doing and while that may be the attitude of society, I can spend my money elsewhere. Anyway. The food was excellent. The staff’s attitude and behavior was poor. Hopefully one day this restaurant can merge the two.

Sunday lunch on the patio. Gently fried shrimp and oysters, beautiful view in the patio with a nice casual environment. And very reasonable lunch prices. We’ll be back

I live near Lake Houston and have passed this restaurant dozens of times. After reading the reviews, i decided to give it a try after church. The view from the patio is beautiful and the service was great. The food was average, at best. My 2 grandchildren(5&13) and I shared boudin balls for an appetizer. My 5 yo granddaughter remarked, ‘it just tastes like rice to me’. They were fried very hard and there was little flavor. They weren’t remotely reminiscent of boudin. My granddaughter ordered the kids’ shrimp, which she wanted grilled. Our waitress nicely informed us that the kids’ shrimp doesn’t include a grilled option. HOWEVER, she would ask if they would do it FORHER since it was her last day. Well, luckily for us, the chef/cook was nice enough to grant HER request. The kids’ shrimp was served with applesauce and a choice of smiley fries, aka a hard, greasy mess, or regular fries. My grandson ordered the crab legs, which he seemed to enjoy. I ordered grilled shrimp that had no flavor at all except the smoke from the grill. I had to use lemon juice and cocktail sauce to give it some ‘oomph’. The pre-dinner salads were lettuce, lettuce, lettuce and, yes; lettuce. The huspuppies were pretty good. I can’t say I won’t ever come back, but if I do, it won’t be for the food.

Love this place! The food and service is always good! I love the fried bread, the blackened fish with etoufee sauce, and the raw oysters. On the weekends they have a great lunch menu that is on the cheaper side. The lunch fish tacos are delicious! The view is beautiful, right on the lake with a boat dock. Kiddos are given popcorn to feed the ducks after they finish eating. If you sign up for the reward program you will also get coupons in the mail every month. Ask for Cathy as your server! She is awsome!

First time here. Had dinner with my husband and son. Came here on a Tuesday, so our son received a free meal. :-) Appetizer: ½ oysters on shell. Yum! Entrée: Husband ordered the grilled salmon w/fresh vegetables. I ordered the mahi mahi w/mango pico de gallo and fresh vegetables. Son ordered the fried catfish with fries. All our meals came with salad(even the kids meal). They also gave us a basket of hushpuppies. Had a nice experience. Afterwards, my son and husband fed the ducks, seagulls and catfish by giving them left over hushpuppies and the waitress gave them each a bag of popcorn. They loved out! Will return with our daughter soon!

The other reviews show a wide range of recent experiences here, but nothing consistent. A recent change in management has not helped the slow service… even when they are not busy. Food is usually ok. Used to love to go here but the last couple of years has taken its toll on a once well loved restaurant with a nice view.
On a side note… the management makes the wait staff wear a «lemon on a string» around their neck if they enter the kitchen empty handed? Their business, but my choice if I choose to return.

We had dinner here with family Saturday Night. It was wonderful. We were welcomed several times by employees that truly seemed to like being there. Our waitress was a very nice lady who knew the menu and specials, she recommended a new drink that the bartender had created. We ordered three and we all loved them. We were dining with my parents so they ordered off of the«senior» menu. They were very happy with the smaller portions and said that everything tasted great. I had the fried shrimp. This is my favorite dish here… the shrimp are large and lightly battered and fried to perfection. I’m never disappointed. My husband had a steak that was very juicy and flavorful. The sides are great too… I had roasted corn and everyone else loved the garlic mashed potatoes. I haven’t even mentioned the main reason we love this restaurant… the location… it sits right on the lake… we always feel like we are on vacation when we are here… our little«get-a-way» in our own back yard!

Something has happened to the catfish at this restaurant. For years that had the best fried catfish in the area. Then they reduced the filets to strips. Then they softened the crust(seems close to the affects of microwaving). Now they’ve introduced a vanilla like flavor to crust. Darn, at one time they rivaled Sudies. Now, mediocre at best. The one saving grace: the fried shrimp remains outstanding.

Location and view right on the water is great. The wait staff was very friendly. The food was just okay. I ordered the snow crab and they were overcooked, but the hush puppies were great! My son loved the smiley face French fries. My husband got the oysters and they were huge!

Cedar’s has changed in the last year back to its old days when the food was excellent. The food dishes are fresh and do not taste like the previously frozen fish dishes that most restaurants try to push off as fresh. The shrimp kisses are tasty for an appetizers but my favorite is their fried pickles. They have just the right amount of batter and go perfect with their fresh ranch dressing. The wait staff are attentive and friendly and ensure you have a great experience. The view of Lake Houston is nice too!

We stopped by for lunch and were greeted by friendly faces and an amazing view. We sat on the patio that overlooked Lake Houston. We were surprised by the affordable prices, $ 13 for a huge portion of Blackened catfish, mashed potatoes, salad, and hush puppies. The food was soooo great! What a gem! They also have several fried options for even lower prices. The menu said that Wednesday was all you can eat fried shrimp for $ 15.99 and Thursday was all you can eat catfish for $ 15.99. We will def be back to try those! Try this place!
