Hudson Elms Nursing Home

My brother is currently a resident at Hudson Elms. Under the expert care of the staff, he has greatly improved since he moved in. The environment is cheerful and happy, which makes a huge difference in nursing care.
The staff is always available to talk to me about my brother’s care and are never too busy to answer my questions. I appreciate being included in my brother’s care plan! Since I live out of state, the staff holds regular conference calls with me to keep me appraised of my brother’s progress.
I highly recommend Hudson Elms. It is a clean, happy, long term care facility with caring team members. My brother has been in several other facilities and none has come close to offering the high standard of care that is offered by Hudson Elms!

Rehabilitation Services Review — this standard bearer of elderly care is going through some challenges in letting go of past practices.
My mother checked in today for a 6 week stay while she recovers from her latest knee surgery. She will be leaving tomorrow. While they do offer wi-​fi, which may seem like a luxury to some seniors but has been part of my mother’s daily life for over 10 years, they do not offer a phone.
If you wish to get a phone you have to call the phone company and have it installed as if you were… renting an apartment? She is not in the permanent care portion of the facility. While other competing providers in the area do not provide wi-​fi… this is the only one that does not offer a phone.
She is in a semi-​private room and there is only one television, and no remote. Her room mate has the curtains drawn and prefers privacy, which is fine, but this means my mother is at the whim of this other person’s viewing choices and hours. She has to have help even getting in a wheel chair right now so not having a remote to mute a TV when a phone call comes in… oh wait… no phones… I guess that’s why no remotes?
Lastly, there is no choice of food. My mother hasn’t eaten fried food in years… tonight it is either tater tots or no «vegetable» to go with the sloppy joes. With the 4 different antibiotics she is taking all she asks for is simple, salt free, baked or broiled.
This was the last straw for her… she contacted another facility in the area and scheduled a transfer.
