Hudson Beach Park

If you want a beach, you will be disappointed. But if you want a nice place to have a picnic or BBQ with a bunch of people (there are grills and large covered eating areas), a stroll along the water, maybe some drinks and chow at Sam’s Beach Bar while watching the sunset… it’s pretty decent. Easy access, plenty of parking.

$ 2 to park in a small lot. The lot itself had plenty of spaces available, at 10am (shoulda been a clue there)
A small strip of sand, then a bunch of slimy rocks, then the water/​swimming area.
The swimming area itself is about the size of a kiddie pool (at it’s deepest) and it is a nasty, smelly brownish/​blackish water. Honestly, it scared me to think of swimming in it.
The covered pavilion/​picnic area is super nice with plenty of tables and a nice 2^nd story observation deck for looking out over the Gulf.
If you just want to hang out, read a book, have a picnic, or get some pretty pictures-it’s great for that. Anything else-​forget it.

This hardly qualifies as a beach nor a park.
The roped off swimming area is a few hundred feet at best. Boats go by from the canal.
Parking sucks. It’s hard to find parking and it costs $$$.
Not sure where the park is? There is a pavilion and really small little kids playground.
On the positive the sunsets there are quite
picturesque.
Like I said: hardly a park or beach by most people’s definitions!

Not too shabby, it was a little rocky (we came during low tide) and the sand was mushy but my overall experience was pleasant. There wasn’t too much noise due to few people. We did hear some nice music coming from the nearby bar. The three pavilions are well maintained and there are a few grills.

I am a native Floridian but I live in Colorado. This stretch of sand is small but when you are needing a beach fix it will do. I think the area is hungry as they charge for parking but there is shelter and Sam’s Beach Bar nearby to ease the pain of the meter.

This is a great little beach for a picnic in this local town of Hudson. The water is not swimmable in locals opinions.
There are places to ride bikes, build sandcastles, kids can play on the small playground, and there are a few geocaches.
Multiple pavilions and about 4 eateries of all styles. Also, on you’re way out, be sure to check out the local Hudson Ice cream store!

Small, pretty park next to Sam’s Beach Bar and across from Inn on the Beach. The sand and pavilions were clean and uncrowded on the summer Sunday we were there. Most of the shoreline has a seawall, but it’s a pretty place to relax and there is an unarmored section for swimming.
Parking costs $ 2. You’ll hear the band from Sam’s, but it’s a merry crowd and sound, and family-​appropriate. Swim shoes are a good idea in the water for those who don’t want to step on seagrass or rocks.

Small beach area on a canal. $ 2 to park. Nice sunsets. Boat launch. A geocache or two. Playground. Pavillion. And a couple of touristy eateries. Could be a lot worse. :)
I think there is a boat rental place. Or if you bring canoes or kayaks you can explore the canals and hit the local ice cream place, bar (Fisherman’s Shack), oyster shack place and other Hudson sights.
The beach itself isn’t much. There is a small playground, picnic pavilions, and a lookout area structure.

Good for a walk, look at hermit crabs, and watch a great sunset. The small beach’s water level is low, enough for kids to play in, there are a lot of barnacles, so swimming shoes are good. There are a lot of long brown seaweed on the ocean floor during the summer.

Not much of a beach area if your looking to swim, it’s small but it’s ok if your just wanting to go see the sunset or if your looking for a short stay

First of all, this isn’t really much of a *beach*. It’s more like a park on the water. If you know that, it’s not a bad spot. Enjoy the beach town atmosphere, grab some drinks, and catch a great Florida sunset over the water.

Hudson beach is a great place to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the deck at SAMs restaurant, or in a swing, under one of many pavilions, and when in season listen to a live band playing in the tiki bar. Thursday evenings a local Christian band plays and sings some of the old church songs. Sun bathe, fly a kite, read a book, take some photos, watch the boats, there are so many things to do here. As far as clean, it’s very clean and the folks are friendly. I don’t recommend swimming though. There’s a small area in the canal for swimming that some do use, but I don’t like it. For those who just want to relax, Watch the dolphins, shrimp boats going out, warm by the sun or feel the cool ocean breeze Hudson beach is the place to do it.

Hudson Beach has seen better days. Not that I was expecting much from this place but it still was a disappointment. In fact, as a lifetime Floridian I was embarrassed by the «Beach». If a tourist came here first and thought this was what Florida’s beaches were like they’d leave and never come back! Let me explain…
Most of this park consists of a seawall/​cement walkway along the water. There is about a 2 – 3′ drop from the wall to the water. There is no sand here, just lots and lots of nasty rocks. They do have a sandy section of the park. This small area starts with some sand, and then there are lots of piles of dried sea grass which leads to the water and plenty of rocks. Again, the sand leads to the water and nasty rocks. Some of them as big as a football! If you make it to the water (you HAVE to wear shoes or risk cutting your feet) then you will find some sand, some rocks and lots more seaweed. The swimming area is small and borders the canals which lead to the housing development. That means you are swimming right next to where all the boats come in and out. It is kind of smelly here too.
And the sand they did have was FULL OF CIGARETTE BUTTS! My poor son was trying to play in the sand and just about every handful of sand had someone’s nasty butt in it. If people are going to use the beach as their personal ash tray then it shows how little respect they have for their local beach! It is just trashy but there was plenty of other trash to keep the butts company: fishing line, wrappers, bags, etc. It wouldn’t cost a dime to have some volunteers come out and clean up this small beach.
The beach does have some redeeming qualities. Free parking (there is no way they could charge people here!), a couple of small playgrounds, bathrooms, fresh water showers, and a covered pavilion with an observation deck. I’m sure the place has nice sunsets and the adjacent restaurant (Sam’s Beach Bar) looked interesting.
