Love this place for fresh Cookies and breads. Best(and only) bakery in town. Small scale so things do run out. I’ve heard the pizzas are also fab.

Everything I’ve had here on my few visits has rocked. Date bars… instant addiction. Little cheese and pepperoni rolls, THEBEST I have ever had(not an exaggeration). Service is always so great… stop reading this and go there immediately.

Really a great find! So fresh and affordable… the monkey bread(I think they call it that) was delicious and amazing. Also, the pepperoni bread is great.

Every year I spend Thanksgiving in OH with my bf and we always stock up scones, monkey bread, muffins and a LOT of shortbread cookies before returning to NYC. To be honest, its one of the best bakeries I’ve been to and there’s nothing quite like it. I really wish there was a Great Lakes Baking Co. in NYC! Please come to NYC or start an option to ship/overnight your heavenly goods!

On Saturdays they offer artisan pizza. Don’t miss it! The pepperoni and four cheese pizzas we had were fantastic. The blend of spices and great crust really made for an enjoyable experience.

Our go-to bakery for the holidays and our weekly addiction at the Hudson or Howe Meadow Farmers’ Markets. Super fun holiday ordering process… they do an awesome job of keeping track of our small order and we now have a holiday tradition of getting 1 of each scone /muffin rather than 6 of one kind! The Cranberry Walnut bread makes killer french toast or even bread pudding… on occasion I’ve even turned a loaf into stuffing. Cookies and french bread are my husband’s Saturday obsession… if he makes us late to either Farmers’ Market and the french bread is gone… no cookies for him! They also have pizza on Saturdays… great gourmet combinations but we never seem to get our act together to give it a try. We used to love Pizzeria Uno’s baked potato appetizer pizza when we lived on the East coast… they have mashed potatoes as a topping option… with the weather turning cool… there is a carb night in on the horizon! They are right next door to a Starbucks… so you can daisy chain your obsessions together or head up the street to First and Main and check out all of the other shopping /eating options in town if you are looking for an excuse to make the trip to Hudson. They have an active Facebook page and post pictures of new creations. Stop by a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving or Christmas… fill out an order form… and get ready for a great adventure! Just remember to come in early in the day if you want to try a variety of treats! Pastries are ready when they open at 7AM… breads are ready by Noon.

I heard about their Saturday night pizza and decided to give it a try. I was hoping to try some of their baked goods as well, but there wasn’t much left by 5 pm on Saturday. The pizza was perfectly made and smelled so yummy in the car it was distracting. The best part about the pizza was definitely the crust. I don’t know if it was grains or herbs, but the underside of the pizza crust was dotted with things, which gave it an really great texture. For my personal taste, it was a little too spicy, so I doubt I’d get it again. But most people will find it absolutely perfect.

I searched for a good bakery after moving out to Ohio recently and I turned to trusty Unilocal to help me find one that fit the bill. GLBC had some very high reviews, and after visiting today, I completely understand why. Although the menu may not be as extensive as some other«chain» bakeries, everything on their menu seems to be a home run. I grabbed two scones, one a blueberry and the other a lemon coconut. I tried a piece of the blueberry before leaving the parking lot and I was blown away by how good it was! Although it has the density of your typical scone, it was light and slightly cake like-while still being true to the texture that a scone should have. It was very moist, and was topped by a delicious icing. The flavors were very pronounced, each one tasting exactly as named. My wife got the blueberry muffin, one each of a chocolate chip and oatmeal cookie, and a cinnamon stick. Her selections were so good, we both ended up sharing each item, just so we didn’t miss out on any part of this awesomeness. And what could be better than having all of these items for under $ 8? Awesome from start to finish, I will be back.

Living in Hudson for nearly ten years, I pass by the place all the time but never really thought about stopping in. A week, or so ago, there was a small eat local feature on the online version of Cleveland Magazine which mentioned Great Lakes Baking Company for its bread and that fact it’s truly an independent bakery. For some reason, I’ve been confusing GLBC with Great Harvest Bread Company, which is a franchised chain, and I’m not a big fan of anything franchised or chain(that is why I’ve traditionally never stopped in). Cleveland Magazine also mentioned that GLBC has Saturday pizza nights. The online pizza descriptions and menu sounded good, so I thought I’d give it a shot, and boy I’m glad I did. We ordered a traditional margherita and four cheese with white sauce. The total price was $ 24, which seems overly expensive when looking at the menu online, but with hindsight, the taste and quality more than justifies the price. Normally my family can go through two large thin crust pizzas, but the structure and quality of the GLBC crust is so good and filling, that we could have ordered just a single pizza. Keep that in mind when ordering, it is very filling. On to the pizza… both pies were some of the best pizza I’ve ever had in NE Ohio; hands down. The quality of the crust can be found nowhere else; and I’ve traveled extensively all over the United States on business and had pizza in many, many, famous places, but this tops them all. The closest comparison I have is some of the pizza I’ve had during my trips to Europe. The red sauce used on the margherita is homemade and is excellent. They used whole leafs of basil and fresh mozzarella; not the shredded stuff. The four cheese pizza is equally as good. The only downside is that pizza can only be ordered on Saturday nights and the hours are a little short(5−8pm). GLBC pizza is a best kept secret; I only wish I would have known about it sooner and gave it a taste. I’m now in love and GLBC is my choice for best pizza in NE Ohio. Try it and you will be a convert.

The old fashioned bakery making real bread, with real dough in house survives here in Hudson. Such a great alternative to Giant Eagle or Panera Breads. I hope this is a chain as they need to spread their love of bread throughout the area.

Excellent bakery. The best bread, by far, in the southeast suburbs. Good selection, and fairly priced. Sourdough and Country Italian are favorites. I think the sweets(brownies, cookies, etc) are on the expensive side, but are also very good, especially the shortbread. Excellent staff, always friendly. If you’re a bread-lover, you should give it a try.

Super yum! Finally stopped in here today after passing it many times — what a great little bakery/café! We live in Kent and have been searching for a good high quality local bakery, and are so glad we’ve found it. Bought a really excellent loaf of sliced whole wheat sandwich bread for about $ 3, and saw many yummy looking crusty breads too. Also got some lavender lemon shortbread cookies(delicious) and a cheesy bread stick that my toddler touched before I could stop her. They also had several different kinds of muffins, croissants, biscotti… and it looks like they also make sandwiches. There were a couple tables inside, and it looked like there were a few outside to enjoy in nice weather too. So glad we finally stopped in — we’ll definitely be going back.
