Huge thumbs down on Ashman Property Services. I paid Dave Ashman over
$ 100,000 for a home renovation job in Arlington, MA. He never finished the job and left me with a leaking house — windows and doors — and no kitchen. He did not respond to my CPA’s record of my payments — or to a mediator I hired — or to my lawyer. It is taking me $ 50,000 to correct the mistakes he made and to install the kitchen. He took money for appliances and did not deliver. He does not answer phone calls or emails. He also left me with a half finished deck that is warped. One day he loaded all my floor tile into his truck and took off, telling me that I had not paid for them. My CPA showed him the cancelled check proving to him that he was wrong. He has no respect for customers or their money. He basically kept the money, left the job and left me in a very bad position — no electrical fixtures in the center of the house, water damage, no working alarm system, etc. etc. This is a outrageous property «disservice», not as he calls his company property «services».
Dave himself, is not often on the job. His crew of two does the work. So any work proceeds slowly. It is very frustrating. And, then, when it stops completely, it is heartbreaking.
I asked for specific exterior lights — within budget and within time and he ignored my request and put in exterior lights of his choice. Outrageous.
He also did a job for me over in Allston and the concrete cracked after one year. It was also clear from the beginning that water pooled on the slab next to the house. He promised to come back and fix it and never did. He also promised to come back in the spring and do a deck painting job. That was over a year ago. Yes, he took money for that too and left behind an empty promise. He is very good at making excuses for himself. I cannot finish a house and deck with excuses. He has taken the checks, cashed them and not delivered. I have a spreadsheet from a CPA showing all the checks I wrote him and that they were deposited in his account and they cleared.
I asked him to take a referral I had made for the one good job that he did — off his website and he ignores my request to this day. I do not want to recommend Dave Ashman and Ashman Property Services to anyone.
