Abc Moving And Storage Company – An Agent Of Allied Van Lines

If I could give them zero stars I would. This was hands down one of the worst experiences — RUN away from using this company. Even their President does not respond to customer complaints.
From the beginning I could not get ahold of Rhonda Trobaugh in the office. For 2 weeks I left messages and called repeatedly because I had some questions and wanted to know when to expect pick-​up. Finally the night before our move I emailed David, the relocation agent who gave us our estimate and he got me the information. I never got a call back from Rhonda.
Following pick up, I received zero communication on the final weight, status of my move, or estimated delivery dates, despite being promised this information within a few days. I continued to call the office, again with no response or indication that anyone was receiving my messages. Once nine days had passed I reached out to David again. Rhonda finally responded to his email, but never to mine, and told me delivery was estimated for June 9^th. Later that day (June 1) I get a call that my things would be arriving June 2^nd, contrary to the roundabout response form Rhonda.
I scrambled to get someone to meet the truck. This person did not get any sheet to check off boxes or ensure all the items arrived. So now I will have no idea if our items made it until we get to Texas in late July.
A call to customer service produced nothing but a rude response and being told it would be handled «internally».
Learn from my mistakes — DO NOT USE THIS AWFUL COMPANY.

ABC/​Allied made a complex and tense situation MUCH easier for us. I am very grateful for the service they provided during our cross-​country move.
My wife, dog and I moved from Boston to Denver in November, with our condo on the market in Boston and a long drive ahead of us. From the quoting process (thank you David Foote), to the mid-​move communication (thank you Rhonda), to the truck driver, (thank you John) I felt that Allied/​ABC was professional, courteous and responsive throughout.
The most important thing for me was communication and I let them know that ahead of the move. I read the other reviews on here, I read Google reviews, and I read their BBB ratings and the story was clear to me. When a move goes wrong, it goes really wrong. When it goes as smoothly as it possibly can, it’s still stressful and exhausting. Honestly, I think these companies are getting unduly punished. Anyhow, I let them know that communication was critical for me and they responded: I spoke with my representative at ABC Moving and Storage (Rhonda) on a daily basis and got at least 6 phone calls directly from the truck driver during the moving process. In other words, I knew exactly where my stuff was and when.
On pick up and delivery, Allied arranged for a «shuttle truck» so a smaller truck could pick up my shipment and take it to their 18 wheeler — or deliver it from their 18-​wheeler. Part of the reason that you’ll find Allied’s rate to be MUCH better than other moving companies is that they are able to take more than one shipment at a time, but can make sure they don’t need to bring their huge truck to your city apartment building. Also on pick up and delivery, their driver and his crew went to good effort to wrap every piece of furniture and they delivered us our entire load without a scratch.
Overall, this is a professional operation and I was really impressed. Thank you Allied/​ABC!

Absolutely Awful.
I had a late June move from Boston to Chicago managed by ABC Moving and Storage in MA. While the pick-​up happened on the appropriate day it was not what we expected given the promises from our consultant David Foote. They did not come prepared to safely pack our 3 large TV’s, nor the extensive amounts of glass that we contracted them to pack for us. The delivery was schedule for 6 — 9 days later. On the 9^th day I called, no forward communication from Allied or ABC, and told our things were still in Boston with no move date in sight. We were offered some miserly amount of money with no apology. I had to request an emergency shipment of my wedding dress, which ABC did manage to do, but there is nothing good to say after that 1 item arrived. Two more delivery dates came and went and less than ½ of our things were delivered the 3^rd week of July.
That first delivery occurred when I was out of the country and my 21 year-​old son was home to accept the delivery. The people checked off EVERY box on the manifest despite the fact that they didn’t deliver it. My son noticed first off that the TV’s and other electronics had not come and was told by the driver that «the truck lock appeared to have been tampered with». He let them go, called us in Europe and started a wild goose chase of trying to locate our ‘few” missing items. In reality, they delivered less than half of our stuff, but no one, including ABC storage knew where it was.
The second shipment arrived on August 5^th (after having been «found» in the ABC Moving and Storage Warehouse) with soaking wet couches and water damage to several boxes and expensive items (a Vitamix Blender, and a brand new Henkel Knife set among them which were packed singly in their original cartons) never arriving at all along with several other cartons of clothing. Everything was filthy. I cannot imagine what they have for inventory control in their warehouse when ½ a 4 bedroom household (13 pages of inventory) could ‘go missing“
Fast forward to this week: I’ve now been told that the per diem allowance stopped the day of the first delivery (which was some random accumulation of things, none of which was the kitchen items, so why they stop the per diem is completely opaque to me. I didn’t contract with them to deliver some of my things. I contracted for ALL of them, at one time. They did not live up to the contract) and also that Allied refuses to reimburse for a necessary purchase of a sufficiently sized cage for our pet conure. «We don’t reimburse for pet items». Because why?
The whole process since the pick-​up has been a fiasco of the largest proportion. RUN, FLEE, SCURRY away from ABC, Allied Van Lines and any of their associated contractors.

In terms of worst life experiences, this ABC/​Allied Van Lines move was right up there with my divorce!
Virtually every piece of wood furniture is scratched. Huge chunks of wood were chipped out of bed posts on both sides of master bed at foot — very unsightly. Shelf is missing from decorative cabinet. Parts were missing — I had to make 3 trips to hardware store to get bolt to put dining table onto pedestal, get pegs for shelves, etc. etc. Items are missing — pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. Collectible glass was shattered. Goods arrived over a week late. Each box unpacked brings more disappointment.
I would never ever recommend use of ABC/​Allied Van Lines.
Don’t do business with Mark Whitington or Rhonda Trombaugh under any circumstances. Mark will come to your home, promise you the moon, and them blame the disaster on the corporate Allied Van Lines. Rhonda will take the calls and back him up. Your possessions will be damaged and/​or lost. Calls won’t be returned and your goods will not be delivered on time.
The service is abysmal and horribly overpriced. No stars for this lousy service.

Moved from Massachusetts to California. This was the first experience with a major moving company as most of my moves have been local.
A Mr. Reddington came to our house and explained everything from the packing of our valuables, to how moving day would transpire on both ends. His knowledge and professionalism stood out over all of the other estimates we received from other companies. The overall costs were spot on. He delivered what he said he would.
The movers were very pleasant and hard workers. The arrangements for the pick up and delivery of our furniture were within the dates that were agreed to.
Overall this turned into a smooth transition from one coast to the other.

Promised delivery date of ⁶⁄₂₄ to ⁶⁄₂₉. Belongings showed up on ⁷⁄₁₁. Refused to do anything for us. 27 days without our stuff.
