Came to the course on a Thursday morning to play a round with the fellas and once we arrive we were told that L Campione was crowded so we decided to play Las Colinas. We were greeted by Joe who is the head golf pro here and told us some strategic note about the layout. Great guy and he gives great lessons from what I hear. The course was in very good shape and since it was not crowded we were able to enjoy the round without any delay or hackers in front of us.
The layout is kind of open with some challenging holes and the greens were very firm so it was not the easiest course I have played before but it was fun. There is a decent amount of water on the course but not too much. Any hacker could still enjoy himself here without losing too many balls. There was some undulation and Hittles in the Fairways with some blind tee shots as well. Overall it was a very fun course and very reasonable rate to play as well. We’ll definitely be back!

We had our Valentine’s date for Brunch at LaHacienda Restaurant at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey In The Hills. If you’ve never been, don’t bother. Everything was lacking in flavor and it seemed like they cut corners everywhere they could. The food, although they had a wide variety to choose from, was over cooked, unseasoned and tasted like your spinster Aunt’s (twice removed) bad leftovers (and my hubs says I’m being kind). Even the Dining room was dingy and needed a major facelift. Our bill, for the 2 of us which had a 21% service charge tacked on, came to $ 116. You’ll enjoy your meal more going to Golden Corral. P. S. The photo in their ad must be centuries old because it no longer looks like this.
UPDATE: The manager and the chef saw my unfavorable post on Facebook and gave me a call. They asked me to be more specific — and I was. I gave them very detailed info regarding our disappointment. If they had any class at all, especially after phoning me to get more info so they could quote — make things better — they should have refunded our money back to our credit card. Seriously lacking in customer service.

This is a large property and very spread out in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me of the hotel in the movie The Shining. Long hallways where we never saw another person in the two days we stayed. No one. Not on the elevator, in the hall, or in the parking lot. The office staff was a little unpolished and the shower was not clean with hair all along the tile. The bedding and sheets were clean but I would not stay there again.

I stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days for a ProSci Change Management course.
First, the grounds here are beautiful. I loved walking around and taking in the beautiful tropical flowers, the chefs herb and vegetable garden, and the various fountains.
The beds were not comfortable at all. The mattress I had clearly had seen better days. It was an old, creaky mattress with a foam pad on top. I woke up with bad issues every morning, which is something I’ve never experienced before.
The décor is outdated. There’s more of an 80s Spanish vibe going on than luxurious resort. There’s also weird smells in every building. Probably from the old carpeting.
The food was mediocre at best. This could be because of the program I was in (we had buffet style for every meal in La Hacienda restaurant) and the food tasted and looked the same every single night. Also, as a vegetarian there were few options besides pasta and potatoes.
All in all, it’s a beautiful place to stay… but that’s about it.

I’ve made tee times all over the planet using my credit card to reserve. I’ve never had a golf course charge for the extra tee times that did not show other than mission inn. They did not inform me at check in and sent a vague email after the round that tee times were cancelled. No mention of a charge at any time. Yet when i received my credit card bill they charged me for 3 tee times that were not filled. I would not recommend them for players.

I am writing this review based solely on my experience while there at the state championship golf tournament .
First of all the pro shop wait to speak with someone was close to half an hour. The cart staff was very rude when asking how to locate the range.
Nickers was the biggest scam I have ever encountered. They advertised a 10 dollar lunch buffet on a flyer. It was chicken nuggets and salad. No anything else. The waitress refused to refill our drinks! Playing 18 holes I was thirsty!!!
When bill came, they wouldn’t take cash. When they swiped the card, they charged 10.00 however added a 29.00 service charge. Pathetic! For that price I could of went to outbAck steakhouse and had a 3 course meal for cheaper. Avoid this place at all cost!

This is our favorite getaway for golfing and tennis when we are in the Orlando area. We actually bought a winter home in the area because we enjoyed the activities offered. My daughter chose to be married there and will be returning soon for her 10 year wedding anniversary.

Well I only got to experience the food twice a day for three days and the views for business. We sat in the conference room all day long so really for what I saw and experienced this place is a knockout. A true gem in the rough.
The food was placed as a buffet style serve yourself and it was nothing short of excellent taste I was full and still going back for more. The staff is fairly friendly the only thing I noticed was staff members standing around talking about their personal lives while I ate my food in peace and I could hear them kind of bitch about their own life. Just slightly distracting. Otherwise great resort to come and visit live or stay for a bit.

The bad: poor customer service, too many local drunks at the La Margarita Bar (some claiming to be the GM’s son — he must be a proud papa), and did I mention the local drunkards? Yeah these guys were so bad it chased away a wedding after-​party of 35+ people (bet the bartender was happy to miss out on all those tips). I witnessed one jerk who actually threw a lime at the bartender! And nothing was done about it by any staff! Then when I «complained» at check-​out about the local drunks, the tort response was «sorry to hear that.» To me it is obvious that the local drunks are common place and are permitted to trash anybody who is not one of them. Would I return here? Nope, never.
The good: the wedding was beautiful, the service for the wedding was great and the food was good. The grounds look awesome and the outside poolside bar was really nice (the outside bartender was great on Friday but I forget her name).
Just in my opinion, if you’re going to spend tens-​of-​thousands of dollars on a wedding, I would expect the utmost respect from staff and awesome customer service. The GM should have your back. Based on the way the after-​party fell apart and the dismissive actions of the front desk at check-​out, I would not recommend spending your hard earned cash here. Go somewhere else where they want your business.

Such a beautiful property! This huge resort has an amazing pool, hot tub and fitness center. I was here for a scholarship event and fell in love with the property. The room is comfy and adorable and who can be unhappy with free in room coffee!

Pros: beds were comfy, bathroom was clean and spacious, patio was nice, enjoyed the massage at the spa, walking distance to event space if you’re attending an event here
Cons: kind of expensive for what it is, food is gross, not much here for guests that aren’t golfing, would not bring my 6 year old here
The location is a bit remote and you should plan on renting a car if you’re flying into Orlando. Restaurants in the neighboring towns offer much better dining options than are offered at the resort. «Walking trail» goes halfway around the pond and stops so it leaves much to be desired because the property looks beautiful but you don’t get to see any of it unless you’re here to play golf and can drive your cart around a bit. Loved the screened in patio on our room and spent much time there when we weren’t out. Be thankful for the screen because at night the air is clouded with swarms of gnats and every surface is covered in them and in the morning their bodies litter the sidewalks, windows, lamps, columns, etc. Our car was covered with them in the mornings and it was actually quite gross.
The room was nice but had a bit of a musky smell to it as soon as we arrived so we aired it out frequently and spent most of our in-​room time on the patio for the fresh air. The patio had food on the ground under the table when we arrived and the food was still there days later when we left. Rooms do not have a floor length mirror so for those of you traveling here for weddings and events, keep that in mind. The pool is quite small so it gets quickly crowded and we were unable to use it during our stay. The upstairs bar was also quickly crowded.
The venue did do a very nice job for the weddings they held here, very picturesque. It is a bit weird to me that other guests and visitors are permitted to stand on the sidewalks surrounding the wedding and just watch though. The wedding planner, not sure if she was privately hired or is part of the resort’s package, was completely on point and brought everything together.
We ate one meal here and left to the neighboring towns for all other meals. The buffet was limited and unappealing so we ordered from the menu. There was quite a lengthy wait and then my wrap was served with unwashed lettuce leaves that were clearly still caked in dirt which I showed the server when he came to see how our meal was. Super gross. We still had to pay for it. Will not eat here again. Thankfully there are several good dining options within 5 – 15 minute drive. Yalaha bakery has better breakfast at fraction of the price 5 minutes down the road. I’m not quite sure what the per person per day resort fee covers because it doesn’t seem to cover anything at all, except maybe parking. Overall I would not stay here again except for maybe the night of an event, since rooms are so close to the event space. If I had read the reviews I probably would’ve stayed elsewhere but still booked the massage at the spa.

This review is based solely on my visit to this facility for a business meeting I did not stay at this property or participate in any of their luxurious amenities. The location is rather remote but the setting is beautiful, this is one of the parts of Florida that has rolling hills and lakes and is absolutely picturesque.
The property however seems somewhat dated the furnishings are worn and reflect the past verses what one would expect at a modern day resort I guess this may be considered nostalgic by some but it had little appeal for me. The meeting room was a little stuffy and nothing special or even comfortable. I don’t know what amenities were included when the meeting was scheduled but it was basically bad coffee and tap water. The tables and chairs kept with the dated or outdated motif as did the networking and media resources the projection screen was the portable expandable white screen that hung crooked. Understanding this was a small business meeting that lasted only a few hours I wasn’t expecting convention or seminar quality but this was a little surprising in this day and age. After this experience that lasted on a few hours my conclusion is the old saying that you can never make a second first impression is absolutely true I just wish I could of experienced this place in its heyday.

Update: Got a call from management to go over my experience. He said thank you for the issues and they will take care of it so the next person won’t go through what I went through. Never even offered a discount or anything for my bad experience. Will never go back now.

Though slightly hidden from the road, this Inn and golf course is quite special. Our focus was on golf for our junior players. First, lunch at Nickers. Food took a while but friendly, attentive service from Heather, our server. Tasty dishes for all of us. Our boys had chicken tenders and a cheese burger, both with the potato wedges (yum!). Hubby had the mahi sandwich and I had the salmon salad. Full of flavor and nice presentation. Passed on eating the stiff, Ramen noodle bowl… ick.
We got on El Campeón and wow, what a course! We were warned of the hills and sloping greens and the boys were up for the challenge. They played from the Red Tees and bogeyed many holes… but worth it!
This is a must-​play course in Florida for any golf enthusiast. We did not go out on Las Colinas… maybe next time.

Best Brunch in Central Florida at Mission Inn Resort & Club
The Champagne Sunday Brunch Buffet at the La Hacienda Restaurant is always a special treat but the restaurant went beyond the usual close attention to presentation for their Valentine’s Grand Brunch Buffet. Fresh red roses, small pink & red hearts, red buffet linens and soft Valentine pillows decorated the buffet along with special Valentine desserts and beautiful floral arrangements. A group of us visited the Mission Inn for a day’s outing starting with the Valentine’s Grand Brunch Buffet. We followed brunch with a play at the Icehouse Sonnentag Theater in Mount Dora.
Our group arrived early for the extravagant brunch at the beautiful La Hacienda Restaurant just as the staff was putting final additions on the lavish buffet. After selecting seats in our lovely private dining room next to the buffet, we all headed over to scout out the offerings. I started with the Breakfast Station. Although the Made-​To-​Order Omelets were tempting, I went with French toast. Then I picked up an Eggs Benedict, a slice of Bacon and a Sausage Link. Other choices were Pancakes, Waffles, Grits, Oatmeal, Muffins, Danish Pastries, Croissants, boxed cereals and yogurts.
Taking a salad plate, l headed over to the Salad Station, and chose some of their Famous Strawberry & Pomegranate Spinach Salad. Other offerings were Caesar Salad, Broccoli and Craisin Salad, Seafood Salad and Tomato Watermelon Salad with Prosciutto. With still some space on my plate, I moved to the Antipasto Station. There I chose Marinated Mushrooms, Ripe Tomatoes, Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella,
Grilled Zucchini, Sun dried Tomatoes and Marinated Roasted Red Peppers. I topped my plate with a rolled slice of Proccuitto, and Sorpressata. Reluctantly, I left behind the Salami, Mortadella and Rosette de Lion. After adding a small wedge of cheese, an olive, berries and walnuts, I headed back to my table.
By this time, our attentive servers had poured Champagne or Mimosas and filled our water goblets. The Champagne or Mimosas were truly endless; the servers kept refilling our flutes. They were prompt about removing dirty dishes and refilling water goblets, creamers and coffee pots. Although I was getting full, after finishing my plates of Breakfast items and Antipasto/​Salad, I decided to return to the buffet for the Smoked Seafood Station. There were Scallops, Trout, Mussels, Salmon, Gravlax and all the embellishments like chopped onion, capers, chopped eggs, Roasted Red Pepper Jelly and Roasted Garlic Remoulade to tempt me. Instead, I chose a Seafood Ceviche Shooter filled with tiny shrimp, scallops and watermelon bits — so appealing and fresh. From there I visited the charming Shrimp Boat Station and added some Peel and Eat Shrimp. I wished that I had room for the plump Marinated Mussels.

With just enough space on my plate, at the Carving Station, I requested a slice of rare Prime Rib and a small slice of Salmon Wrapped in Puff Pastry. There was another Station with Hot Food Items: Oyster Rockefeller, Crab Stuffed Sole, Pork Medallions, Raspberry Wild Rice and a Vegetable Medley, I was too full to take anything. Before heading back to my seat, I took a small crispy roll and a bowl of Chilled Strawberry Soup.
Everything that I ate was superb. I especially liked the Chilled Strawberry Soup; it was so creamy and refreshing. The hot items were hot; cold items were chilled. By now, I barely had room for dessert. Although the Mission Inn is known for their Famous Bread Pudding, I simply could not eat another bite of food. OK, we all know that Ice Cream goes down easy so that it what I had, instead. I have to be honest and admit I made myself a Strawberry Sundae; Strawberry ice cream smothered with soft Strawberries in syrup, topped with real Whipped Cream. The nine other diners at my table enjoyed Cherries Jubilee, Raspberry Crème Brule, Strawberry & White Chocolate Mousse Parfaits, Red Velvet Cake and the Pink Chocolate Lover’s Fountain with Assorted Fruit Kabob Tree. After a delicious cup of steaming coffee with cream, I decided that a leisurely walk around the grounds was in order.
I highly recommend the Sunday Champagne Brunch, $ 35.99 at any time of the year but especially the Valentine’s Grand Brunch Buffet, $ 38.99 and well worth the cost. Reservations recommended. Local Food Critics recognize the Mission Inn as the Best Brunch in Central Florida. On Valentine’s Day itself, the Grand Lunch Buffet is $ 22.99 per guest– reservations required. An added treat is listening to the accomplished Spess Neblett on the piano. How romantic is that! He regularly plays at Sunday Buffets. Pick up one of his CDs before you leave. Unfortunately, eating in our private dining room, we could not hear him playing. This place is a real disappointment. I really can’t believe the reviews are as good as they are…
The buildings smell musty and old, décor is dated and tacky. Nothing is updated, nor is the food good. Additionally, the spa is disgusting. I gave an extra star because of the well trained spa technician that was very skilled.

We expected luxury, cleanliness, great service, delicious food, and top notch amenities. We were not disappointed at all. We were, in fact, completely blown away at how wonderful everything was here at Mission Inn Resort. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The suite was furnished with gorgeous wood furniture. The bed frame must have weighed a ton, solid wood and simply elegant. This reminded us of the old Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Pinellas with it’s classic charm. To be fair it would have to be the old Belleview Biltmore on steroids, wrapped in prosciutto, fried in butter and served on a 24k solid gold platter by ninjas. Best one word description I can come up with, perfection!

Would give 3.5 stars if I could. I stayed here for a wedding and thought it was a beautiful setting. The pool was so warm, like bathwater, I loved it! The pool patio was very scenic, clean and pretty and had a great view.
The hotel rooms themselves were pretty dated, lacking in things I would expect at a resort, such as a mini fridge. The toiletries were nice (I like that they include body wash instead of bar soap) but the towels (both pool and room towels) were very low quality and scratchy. The beds were very comfortable and clean, but I would say the rooms, hallways, etc. felt dated and not luxurious, though trying to be.
Service was nice and the wedding and reception were lovely. However, the overall upkeep and style of the resort are not what I’d expect from such a beautiful setting and establishment billed as a resort.

So gorgeous! Only a 45 minute drive from downtown Orlando, a perfect getaway for the weekend! The views alone are worth the trip. It is an older resort and club tucked away in Howey-​in-​the-​Hills!
I have been twice now and really look forward to going back in the near future. It’s great for a day trip or overnight. I have done both. The rooms are a bit older but very comfy and relaxing.
Spa Marbella… gorgeous! If you have the chance to visit with your sweetie, take advantage of the couples room at the Spa. It is romantic, private and glorious. They have a private bathroom with a jet-​filled shower (lights and music galore, sounds cheesy but it’s AMAZING) and a private balcony to enjoy. The staff is so welcoming and will cater to whatever works best for you. Note though, it is closed on Sunday… bummer.
Pool time! There is a small, cozy pool and hot tub behind the main building with gorgeous views of the golf course. Also, above in the trees you can eagle watch, yes, it’s so cool. The courtyard that is right off the pool is gorgeous. It’s an amazing spot for events but also just for relaxing. There is a balcony on the top that is prime time real estate for sunset viewing.
Saturday night’s All You Can Eat Crab Legs, Sushi & Prime Rib at Nicker’s Clubhouse Restaurant… NOT to be missed! This features an impressive array pasta dishes, fresh peel and eat shrimp, a huge desert array and yes, endless crab legs, sushi and prime rib.
The Sunday brunch, OMG… so much food. And they have a large array of everything you could want. Breakfast items, lunch items, even supper items. Take your time and leave room for the dessert bar!!!
Yalaha Bakery is in this area so if you are headed there, definitely swing by Mission Inn to check it out and vise versa.
