What a wonderful shop. We were introduced to Heart of Michigan by our in-laws to be. Being from out-of-town and our daughter’s wedding held in Michigan, this is a great place for wedding favors. The proprietor was able to make wooden wedding favors in the shape of the State of Michigan with the bride and grooms name to put on gift bags. Needing 200, I was easily accommodated. I also must mention how kind everyone was. Even if you’re not wedding shopping as we were, still a fun place.

What a lovely store. I live in NY and my mister is from the Michigan. We were in Howell visiting his sick mom and decided to stop in here so we could take something local back home. I purchased an adorable clock made of wood with the outlines of the lakes and the state of Michigan right in the middle. I also got a Michigan cookie cutter – has the U.P. and everything! My only wish is that they carry more stuff that is Detroit specific. Like maybe some great photographs that you can frame or some cool Detroit t-shirts. Btw, try the pasty. It’s delicious.

Refuses to ship to US military bases overseas. Not the best way to support our troops. BTW: does

This place has some awesome Knick Knacks and general michigan gear! There were some pretty interesting things in the store that I didn’t realize were from michigan. If you get a chance be sure to check out the pumpkin ice cream it’s amazing!!! Will be back for more of it for sure! Also good to know they carry the raspberry jam I enjoy so much. This will save me from having to drive to Ann Arbor to get the kind I like! Very friendly staff as well!

Get yourself to downtown Howell for some marvelous«made in Michigan» stuff! I was able to park in one of the municipal lots, which allow you to park up to 2 hours for free. Heart of Michigan has a lot of inexpensive treasures, and some very nice, expensive ones as well. Key chains and coasters and refrigerator magnets through jigsaw puzzles and Christmas ornaments and handmade soaps through framed photos of the Big House and birdhouses that have Michigan license plates for a roof. Cool! If you’re a sports fan, they have items with the logos of the Lions, Tigers, Wings, Wolverines and Spartans. I really like the wooden gift baskets with the little«Michigan» mitten carved into the side. They can ship a gift basket for you, after you pick out the goodies inside. Oh, and did I mention the food? They have Faygo in the cooler, Guernsey Farms ice cream, pasties made by a guy from the U.P., Better Made potato chips, Velvet peanut butter, fair trade coffee, tea, Cherry Republic & Sander’s jams, candies and baked goods. All your Michigan favorites are here, including Al Dente pasta from Whitmore Lake. Whether you want an inexpensive gift or money-is-no-object, you will probably find something very nice here. After I picked out some Christmas gifts for the fam, I had to get some pasties to go, and some Awrey’s date nut shortbread squares for dessert. Yum!

Perfect for small gifts for my son’s teachers when meaning and thought might have to make up for budget. Beats the Big box store cheap gifts choices. Gave him ice cream samples that made his day.

This store rocks for all things related to Michigan! Shopping here makes me feel so happy knowing I am supporting a business that is 100% Pure Michigan. I could spend a ton of money in here shopping for gifts and more. My favorite section is the food! Lots of snacks, jams, tea, coffee, honey and more, and all locally made. There’s even fresh-made pasties and local ice cream, too. The word on the street is a Michigan beer section will be coming soon, too. I really cannot wait for that :) I was very impressed with pricing too — it was the same as some of the big boxes, and I’d rather put my dollars into an independent shop like this. Happy mitten shopping!

This is a family ran business that offers items made exclusively in Michigan. And what a fun little shop it is. Artwork, photography, jewelry, home décor, clothing and food. From petoskey stones to jars of McClure’s pickles to U.P. made pasties to Ashley’s Ice Cream. So many choices. Even jars of Velvet Peanut Butter. Gift baskets galore and what a good idea for that diffcult to buy for person in your life. The staff is comprised of family members. All are friendly and very accomodating. Return trips indeed!
