The best sushi I’ve had in New York so far! The staff is very friendly and provide excellent service to keep a good rapport with returning customers. I have been coming here for years and they treat me and my kids like family. I recommend any of the hand rolls and the bento box

My best friend introduced me to this place and I love it! Their spicy shrimp rolls are amazing! Also, their pork gyozas are good too! The service is really good. Prices are definitely affordable. It’s very small inside, so not really a place to go on date or anything but maybe to get something for takeout or fast eat-in. The only bad thing is that they include the tip on your check, so technically you don’t have to tip them.

I do love this place they make good food and they’re decent portions but never tip them because they take the tip out of your check even if you pick up food and not be there they take about five dollars for a tip that’s the only downfall to this place

Japanese is my absolute favorite cuisine. That being said I tried every Japanese restaurant in the area when I moved here. Two neighbors recommended this place. I’ve been here on three separate occasions and they’ve been pretty solid experiences– the service is stellar but the food is quite bland. I’ve been eating Japanese food since I was a toddler and go out of my way to try different Japanese restaurants. That being said the food here is almost like a wannabe imitation, being prepared for someone who’s had a heart attack and cant have salt and is on a diet. There’s little to no flavor in any of the dishes I’ve tried. I wanted to like it and thought maybe it was a fluke so I came back two more times, both times I received bland mush. I guess I should be more careful who I trust with recommendations(two Non-adventourous old ladies who think California rolls are authentic Japanese cuisine). As I said the service was great and the bulk of the reason for the stars in my rating. But amazing service can’t help plain food for me. I’ll stick to Hagane a few blocks down(their sushi is excellent).

Really great food and service here. The pork gyozos for an appetizer are delicious! The cooked salmon and spicy shrimp rolls are also so good. The food is always so fresh and the price is really affordable.

I have mixed feelings the flavors were awesome but the rolls for lack of a better description slimy. They just fell apart when you picked them up and don’t try dipping them in soy sauce or spicy mayo. You’re just gonna end up with a mess in your sauce.

Bueno probé el océan roll y me ha encantado!!! Tiene un picante muy agradable para los que no lo podemos soportar con este lo harás. Es agradable el lugar aunque pequeño pero la comida y la atención ha sido muy bien.

The sushi is amazing! Always fresh and delicious. The staff is perfect, when ur a regular and they know what u like or need something extra it will be on the table be4 u even have a chance to ask. My only problem and the reason this place got 4 stars instead of the 5 stars is i found a hair in my food on 2 different occasions that i have gone there. And it turned me off big time. But if u can look past the hair situation they deff got it going on!!!

Great Sushi and awesome staff. I even order take out from here, Love it! The sushi is fresh, and the staff takes the time to joke around with you. The remember me when I come there, and pretty much get me the chili pepper for my miso soup every time, now that’s what I call a great establishment. You should make time to remember your regulars. All and all good sushi experience.

I had the aromatic white tuna as an appetizer and the dinner roll special. I also had the sashimi a la cart stripe bass, yellow tail and salmon. I must say there portions are great and the fish smaller and tasted fresh. It’s my second time here and a go to when you are craving sushi in queens cross at area. Customer service was sweet as well.

A sushi place has opened up two block away from my house. Yet, I still much rather drive 15 minutes to Sakura than going to the near by restaurant. Why? Because it’s so good, my co-workers agree. I’m on a mission to try everything on their menu, haven’t been disappointed yet. All good, all fresh!

The restaurant is quaint but lovely. The service is very fast and the wait staff is very nice. The food is delicious! I’m very picky about my ginger dressing for the salad and this is one of the best I’ve tasted. The gyoza is also great! The prices are incredibly reasonable for good portion sizes. Will definitely be coming back here!

My Family Loves this Place! The food is Always Great and Consistently Good! We are Life long Vegetarians and can always find lovely items to eat and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are always willing to help accommodate any changes you want. The owner & employees know and remember their regulars and are welcoming to everyone including new customers. This is a real neighborhood Japanese restaurant and it is as good as most any in Manhattan. The Kitchen & Bathrooms are also always clean. The atmosphere is small and intimate and I’ve never had to wait long for a table if ever. 5 Stars! Great Food! Great Service! Clean environment!

We ordered the soft shell crab and shrimp tempura appetizer and 5 rolls — volcano, spicy salmon, eel, lobster tail, and ocean. For 3 people it was more than enough. The food was really delicious, presentation was beautiful although we feel the rolls should have been put together a little tighter(they were loosely put together and hard to pick up without falling apart). They were out of the green tea ice cream but they do have fried ice cream as an option there. We are use to eating good quality sushi around nyc and although this wasn’t close to the best we ever had, it is definitely good for something found close to home in Howard beach. We will definitely go again when we don’t feel like making a big trek. I also need to add that the prices a very reasonable, about the same price or cheaper than most other comparable sushi places I’ve been to.

Not much to say about this place. I ordered take out from them for my wife and I but felt the quantity of fish was small in the rolls. I was not a fan of the rice they use for sushi also. i will most likely not order from here again.

I ordered a dinner special to go. For about $ 15, I received three different handrolls and miso soup. There were six pieces per each handroll. The pieces were a bit small, yet the quality was good. The service was pretty quick. My takeout order was ready in about 15 minutes. Overall, I’d rate my experience 3.5 stars if I could.

Love, love, love this little sushi spot. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The service here is wonderful-I’ve been coming here for years and the sweet girls always remember my order. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, they do accept cards and there is only street parking available. Food is beautifully presented and they don’t cheap you on the take out either-you get just as much as you would eating in. Also-The manager looks a little like Mr. Chow from the Hangover lol. Great spot, try them out.

I came across Sakura thanks to Unilocal. In Howard BEACH there aren’t many good places to eat. Lots of new Italian places I haven’t tried. But this small cozy place has a nice comfortable feel and the sushi was fresh and delicious .I would stick to the special rolls here. The rainbow roll was good but the ocean roll won us over. It was tempura shrimp and spicy tuna and avocado WOW. The crunch of the shrimp and the spicy tuna made for a great marriage. After we finished it we had to order another. The presentation on this roll was food art. See pic below. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. As was the rest of the staff. I will be returning .Nice place to linger and BS. A good find thanks fellow Unilocalers.
