I moved away from Brooklyn a few years now. And every time I get to call a friend or two from the old neighborhood, we always talk about Doug and his great food truck. Nice to know that he’s still around to make every working guy’s lunch a great part of their day. Only in Brooklyn!!!

As far as sausage trucks go, you can’t really get much better. These links and peppers are slow roasting all day and are always on point. Also, try their knish with onions and a lil salt. It’s so good you’ll smack someone!

The guy makes a good sausage. I was over by Brooklyn and couldn’t resist to pull over. Glad I did. They do things right.

What a gem! These guys do sausage right and quick. It’s a medium-sized food cart off Linden Blvd(just before McDonalds) and always has a line of either police officers, construction workers, locals, you name it. Offers both sweet and spicy sausage, I like half and half. Their bread is perfect, always fresh. They also sell Knish’s and hot dogs, but the real winner here is the sausage with their peppers/onions. Love this place.

My father in law has been telling me for months to check this place out since it’s near my work. He used to hit this place up all the time when he was younger living in BK, telling me it was the best sausage and peppers around. He was definitely right! Got to check it out today with a coworker. Doug hooked us up and had us get the sausage and peppers with BBQ sauce, mustard, and hot sauce, topped with a few jalapenos! My coworker said he blanked out while he was eating it, since it was so good haha! Me, not being a big sausage and peppers fan because it’s usually too greasy, was greatly impressed. The sausage was crispy, nothing was greasy, and I would of bought a bag full of the Italian hero’s he uses, it was the perfect bread! Get the black cherry soda to go with it, per Doug’s recommendation! Just trust the guy if you’re a rookie, he obvi knows what he’s doing for the past 20 something years. We will definitely be hitting this place up again on our lunch outings. Brought back a few extra sandwiches for the rest of the office, and everyone is drooling!

Just bloody ridiculous… in a good way. HISTORY/ABOUT: Policano’s has been in business at the same spot for over 25 years and for damn good reason. The Sausages with the peppers and onions is unlike any I’ve ever had before. DÉCOR/AMBIENCE: This is an old school food truck with a large smoking flat top. MENUDESIGN/READABILITY: Perfect. Tight and concise. FOOD/QUALITY: Phenomenal. At any given time the searing flattop is covered in large coils of sausages with a beautiful char on both sides. Once you order, an appropriate size sausage is cut from the link, split down the middle and then the inside is quickly seared. The move is to run the half sweet/half hot sausage and get it fully loaded with the condiments for obvious reasons(flavour profile). The peppers and onions are so sour and vinegary it makes the whole sandwich for me, after all I’m a sour slut. The bread they use is the perfect vehicle for this beast as it’s super crunchy and does a great job absorbing the juices. PRICEPOINT: at $ 7 for the sandwich it’s a steal, the hot dogs and knish are also so cheap they’re practically giving them away. SERVICE: The gentleman working the truck that day was so kind and cheerful, when our order was ready he yelled out for the Toronto boys. BATHROOMS: n/a FINALTHOUGHTS: I could eat that sandwich every day, no bs.
