Food was DELICIOUS! Finding Hash browns in NYC diners is rare. Great variety of food to select from. Service was okay, took a bit long, came VERY early in the morning, there were 3 other parties and one kind waitress, so it’s understandable. Definitely somewhere you’d want to stop by before flying out. 5mins away from JFK. Looking forward on coming back.

I came here a few times. This means I was willing to give it a few tries. Both times service was quick and attentive. Drinks were delicious and strong. And both times I was surprised by the cost of the food… food which was just okay. I had the chicken parmesan which was good with pasta which was decent. I also had a chicken caeser salad which was nothing impressive. The price on the other hand was quite impressive!

I am a vampire and love being up at night but being up late means getting hungry again because it’s been a while since dinner. The options at 1:00am or later are very limited so the Cross Bay Diner is one of go tos. They are open 24⁄7 which is very convenient for someone like me. Their food is pretty good and waiters are always polite. They can get pretty crowded for breakfast in the morning but it’s worth the wait. And their mozzarella sticks are to die for. Can’t eat mozzarella sticks anywhere else anymore because nothing compares.

Came here after my baby cousins dance recital In rockaway. From the time I went to dancing school till now, It was always tradition to go to the diner after the recital. We came here around 10 o clock and we had a group of 10 people. We were seated quickly but things got worse from there. We asked for a separate check for two sides of the table. Not for everyone individually. Being a waitress most my life I would understand it being annoying if it was for every person Individually but two checks for one table is not that hard to do. He then took our order and wrote it all down. Our food finally came After about half an hour. Maybe more !!! Everyone’s order had something wrong with it. a salad that was specifically ordered without the tomatoes had tomatoes. My grilled veggie panini came as a grilled wrap. He offered to exchange it and when I agreed he said he couldn’t there were no more Paninis. How do you run out of paninis? I just kept the wrap but was annoyed to eat. We had to ask for utensils and more water constantly. Sorry but if I was seated a party of ten on a Saturday night I would give the greatest customer service because that can result in a big tip !!! Our waiter was not courteous and seemed very flustered. If the food was enjoyable then maybe I would have been more understanding but I can’t comprehend how you write down the order and still mess it up. !! Will never eat here again! And I only give this place two stars because we have been coming here for years after dance recitals ! We will have to find a new diner !

Veggie burger was not good at all. Tasted funny in a «what the heck is this mush» kind of way Waiter was attentive and tried to keep our party of 6 happy. But kept messing up orders. Another friend sent their dish back and said it was disgusting(some type of omelet) Hash browns were bland as heck. Friends said the calamari was good Another friend hated their Cobb salad and wouldn’t finish it. The sweet potato fries are decent but not crispy. They are soft and a little mushy. They wouldn’t split the bill. The bill is hand written. It was open at 4:30−5am when other«24hr» diners were closed. I would only come back if there were no other options and it was a late party night. And even then… I doubt it

Ordered a burger, chicken cutlet sandwich, and pancakes. The pancakes were great. The burger was okay. As for the chicken sandwich, the cutlets were so thin and packed with crumbs and oil. It was disgusting. The waiter was not very attentive and we only saw him when he took our order and brought the food. We asked him if he could kindly split the check since it was 4 of us and we ordered a few things. He said no. We assumed he had already processed in the computer or something. Nope. He was just being lazy because it was written down. When we took it to the cashier to pay, we asked her to split it. She said we could have asked our waiter, and we informed her that he refused. Even she was surprised that he refused. He’s lucky I still tipped him after that smh.

Stumbled in here last night after RV Rooftop down the block. Service was mediocre at best, food came quickly. Ordered a gyro which came with 3 small strips of dried out aged processed gyro meat in a massive pita. Note to owner — if you are going to skimp out on the gyro meat, better get a smaller pita so it looks proportionate. Fries with melted mozzarella were decent and so was the gravy. All in all, nothing great and would pass right by the next time around.

Went at brunch time on a Sunday so it was very crowded but only a 10 minute wait. Started out with the French onion soup, which was good but a little to salty(only reason for 4 stars). Had the steak and cheese hero-awesome! Steak was tender and cheese was hot and gooey like good cheese is supposed to be. My mom had an open faced hot roast beef sandwich. She said it was really good. We both had enough left overs to eat dinner. The menu is huge so we’ll be going back to try more. The dessert case had about 25 different items that looked amazing but we were to stuffed to even bother. Next time will get dessert to go!

Friendly neighborhood diner with better than average diner food. Diner food has become typically the same at every place. When a diner does little things to be different it stands out.

Wonderful place to take the family! Love the breakfast there also! If you get there before 6pm you get the dinner special. I recommend the turkey dinner with stuffing and cranberry.

I live nearby, so I’ve come here for years. It’s my fav diner in Queens. I always seem to come here on the busiest holidays, and we always still get seated with pretty good service. The food is great, the menu is huge and I always kind of order the same things(french toast, omelette, waffle fries, pancakes, iced coffee, etc.). One particular time I came with my cousin who was visiting from Florida. He was going through the loss of his mother, and we were having quality time. Our server LOUISA was the kindest, sweetest, and happiest woman. Her energy and personality alone cheered my cousin up. He is a picky eater and very particular, and she had SO much patience with us! Thank you Louisa for your warmth, it was really needed in that rough time. My cousin still talks about you, and we hope to be back on your shift again!

Where do I start. My first experience at this diner was miserable, after a relatively long wait for brunch at 2pm I was seated and automatically rushed into ordering. I told the waiter I needed a minute. About 2 min later while I was clearly reading the menu the waiter comes over and asked to take our order. I wound up ordering the wrong thing and decided to bring it home for my dog. Well my girlfriend loves diners so I decided to give it a second chance. I was appalled by the following events. Our waitress tried to rush us, luckily we anticipated this and looked at their menu online and were ready. When my girlfriend ordered her meal the waitress was extremely rude and was acting like she could not hear her(my gf is from Mexico and has an accent) The menu said that if you won’t want lettuce and tomato you can substitute it for more French fries. When she was asked this the waitress said no you can’t do that. At this point I should have intervened. The waitress, aware of the fact my girlfriend was confused and flustered then ‘tricked’ her into ordering a side order of French fries. I ordered a BLT with waffle fries. When our food came I had regular fries and my girlfriend had none. The waitress had the audacity to ask me if I still wanted waffle fries. I said yes, then she said that I should take the French fries off my plate and give them to my girlfriend who didn’t get the fries her meal came with nor the side order. I eventually got my fries but the additional order never came. I figured she would have removed this off the bill. I’m not sure if fries cost $ 7 but that was the additional charge on my bill. I will never give my business to such a pathetic excuse for a restaurant again. I would only suggest this place to people who like being miserable.

I don’t know where to start with this diner. Let’s start with there customer service. Our waiter was horrible! When she came to take our order everything was fine. But once we placed our order we didn’t see her again till the food came out she didn’t check on us or let us know that our food was almost done or anything. Once we got the food I told my husband«i hope the food is better then the service because I’m soooo hungryyyy». I ordered some eggs, ham, pancakes and fries everything on my plate was cold EVERYTHING. I hate cold food with a passion! I knew if I told them it was cold they would just warm it up in the microwave and I didn’t want that. My husband ordered a omelette, hash browns, wings and a fruit salad. I don’t understand how you can mess up breakfast?! We picked at the food and left mostly everything the worst thing was the uncooked pancakes they served me. Omg like seriously who runs this diner? You should think about getting a better cook because my 9 year old daughter can cook pancakes. But to make this place seem even worst our lovely waiter(I’m being sarcastic when I say lovely) came over to our table, took our plates away she asked us «that’s all» we said«YES can we get the check». So now we are waiting on the check I’m not exaggerating when I say about 7 minutes go by and still no check. We are sitting at the table by the bathroom door. I can see the waiter just standing there but I can’t see what she’s doing because I’m sitting down. when I get up to see what she was doing I was so surprised. She was standing there texting on her phone. My husband had to get up and let her know we was ready for the check 7 minutes ago. I have never been to a diner where the staff just stands around on there phone in front of customers like it’s okay. This place is a big joke and so are these reviews. The owner must ask his good friends to write these reviews because there’s no way this place is 4 stars. I wish I could give it a 0 star because that’s how bad it was. Oh let’s not forget there over priced as well. NOTALLDINERSSUCK! Here are a few diners I have been to where customer service is first and the food is fresh. This place is convient, nothing easier for the local night owls then a 24⁄7 diner, especially after a night of drinking. My major concern though is the price. Ive eaten here with my girlfriend and been handed a 35 dollar bill for –grilled cheese & fries, –BLT& Fries –2 blk cups coffee. Ive been to other similar diners, while footing the bill for 3 people, received bills for 23 $. Another problem i have with this diner is that they put sliced tomato and lettuce on every plate of fries as fluff, but why would i want my BLT with more Lettuce and more tomato on the side! For a hamburger, i get it, but jeez man, just give me extra space in fries. In my opinion, It is better quality then Esquire Diner further down Cross Bay blvd, so if its 3AM and you only have to pay for your own food, or your still to drunk to worry about the bill, go for it.

Been coming here for years. This diner is tried and true. Came on a Sunday around 1pm, it was a mad house. Won’t do that again, we waited like 15 minutes for a table, which was a little annoying as we never had to wait before. The waitress was a little frazzled, but all in all a good dining experience.

Crossbay diner has been around forever ! And they never seem to fail me. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. No matter what day of the week or time, the service is always outstanding. Eilane, cute woman with curly blonde hair, great server. Very attentive and maintains a wonderful smile! But enough about her, more about the food. Crossbay club is a must, a triple decker club sandwich(bacon and chicken) with a house chipotle sauce! I could go on and on about all the good stuff on the menu, but I suggest you come check it out for yourself.

I’ve been coming here for years but not often. Each order of food is good and hearty, there is even enough for 2 to eat. The ambiance is clean and inviting. The prices are very reasonable for what you are getting«A lot of good food for your money» The only issue I have is depending on what server you get the service can be poor and slow to start. So when you go there ask for Joanne to be your waitress she totally Rocks! And if you have any problems with food or service ask for Michael who is the owner. You are guaranteed to have your issue resolved straight away no matter how large or small. He definitely cares about his guests who come in to his place of business to eat! *I look forward to my next visit to Cross Bay Diner!

Good diner food. Good variety of selections and the staff is very attentive. If you want to grab breakfast after Sunday Mass, this diner is a good option. We enjoy popping in after my kids’ soccer games for burgers and a quick bite and have never been disappointed.

This is my second time at the cross bay diner. The first was decent. Food came out pretty quickly and it really isn’t too hard to make a good breakfast. This is my second visit. I’ve been here a half hour and have only seen my side of coleslaw. I’m trying to imagine this coleslaw as a burger but its just not working. Oh and the girl who is waiting on me just proclaimed that«there is nothing she can do» … Wow Last time here

The service at this place is good and the establishment is always clean. I visited this place many times and I feel that their menu is a bit pricey however, with the amount of food you get its enough for 2 people. Will definitely be coming back again. Also breakfast is always good here, the pancakes are the best.

If u go to this diner the best day is Friday, thats greek soup day! It is my favorite! A must try! I only wish they had it there everyday, i would go more often… Some of the waitresses are amazing and some just don’t care, and at this point i know who to ask for. I also really enjoy the grilled chicken mushroom wrap with the honey mustered dressing, they don’t allow u to share your food if u order on the lunch specials, you have to do it on the sneak.

I had their bacon cheeseburgers deluxe for the first time ever, and can I tell you how good and filling it was, for all of you turkey burger lovers out there I would highly recommend turkey burger to you… it was fresh cuz I can see and taste all of the fresh herbs that they put in the turkey burger. I really enjoyed eating it.

Yay I am a fan. Of what you ask? Of giant mozzarella sticks — yes mozzarella sticks were ginormous. Perfectly fried. Exactly what I want and need on a late night. My husband had a roast beef sandwich which was yummy too. Calamari also hit the spot huge pieces not overly battered, fried just right. Décor super cute, changes for the seasons. I will be back :)

I don’t know what the NY diner experience is like but down south diners are greasy, buttery, fattening, full of sodium and hangover joints! …or after church type hangouts. Unfortunately, this place missed the mark for me. I even tried going during different hours of the day… late at night with a lil’ buzz and then again during daylights. The first time I ordered a typical Marianne b-fast, two sunny side up eggs, hash browns, and toast… I was disappointed that I couldn’t find the grits. But I know we up north so a buttery toast was a substitute. Second time around I got a veggie omelette, it was okay. The bf got a meaty breakfast off eggs, bacon and sausage with toast. He enjoyed it but I suppose it’s pretty hard to mess that up. Either way, I would probably go back because it’s one of the few place near my neck of the woods open 24⁄7 but I rather stay home and cook breakfast if it really came down to it. On the upside, the staff is pretty friendly and fast. And for being Howard Beach… parking is actually pretty smooth but then again they do have their own lot. Also, there is a pastry display which looks decent but I’ve never had the chance to try it yet.

I took my wife the other night for a late night date and thought it would be a great little place to enjoy a late night dinner after we both had such a long day at work. She couldn’t even finish her meal. It was terrible. Our fries were cold like they had been sitting there for an hour, bacon wasn’t cooked properly. My sandwich was not well done, her meal was so greasy she didn’t have any napkins left after she tries to unwrap it. I ordered an avocado panini and she ordered a bacon cheeseburger wrap, which wasn’t on the menu but the waitress was willing to do. The service was shorty, the food was super greasy, cold or stale and i cannot see myself returning in the near future.

Came here for brunch with my fiancé last Saturday after running some errands on Crossbay Blvd. We were set on dining at Crossbay Diner, but out of curiosity, I searched for surrounding diners on Unilocal. To my utter surprise, Crossbay Diner was my only result! It makes complete sense why it was so packed when we stepped in. Not only that, the diner is open 24/7, has plenty of seating, and the food and service are on point. I was craving some runny eggs, so I ordered 2 over easy eggs with pastrami on multigrain toast, whereas my fiancé ordered 2 sunny side up with corned beef hash and multigrain toast. My eggs were perfecto! The oozing yolk on my toast and pastrami hit the spot. Not to mention, both dishes came with shredded potato, which satisifed my craving for some potatoes and ketchup :). My only complaint was the coffee wasn’t bold enough for me. It was rather weak and lacked the aroma that a good cup of java needs. We also suggest that the menu clearly state what our dish is sided with, as my fiancé wouldnt have ordered his hash if he knew the dish was going to be accompanied with potato. However, we really enjoyed our meal and being that this diner is one of the few, or only one, around, it won’t be the last time you will see me there!

Cross Bay Diner is one of my favorite diners. I came here during the day for lunch with one of my friends after shopping. We got there about 1pm and it was packed, with a few tables available, so we were able to sit right away. We got waters as soon as we sat down, and our waiter was over soon after that to take our order. I got a soup and a grilled chicken wrap that’s had fresh spinach and tomatoes in it, which I got deluxe. Deluxe made it come with pickles, cole slaw, fries, and onion rings. It was soo much food, really good though !! Definitely worth going to if you’re in the area and want diner food, there menu has a lot of options too!
