I’ve jogged past this place at least a hundred times and never been able to check it out since I’m running. Finally had a meeting downtown in Allen two and decided it was time to check it out. Though it was pretty busy, they seem to run a pretty smooth operation. Had a blue cheese burger that was pretty solid. Fries were good to. Not the greatest I’ve had, but it’s convenient to the surrounding office buildings and a pretty good deal!

I almost always get the shrimp Po boy and sweet potato fries. The burgers are good too. The owner is friendly and accommodating to groups. It can get busy so go early if you want to miss the lunch rush

Good downtown breakfast and burger spot, located on Polk St. beneath the Hyatt Regency street span. Breakfast tacos are a deal, $ 2.19 each, or buy 2 get 1 free, and include all the usual ingredients – fresh eggs, and choice of bacon, sausage, chorizo, potatoes, etc. Lots of fresh-made burger and sandwich options; combos are in the $ 8.50 to $ 9.50 range, and include fries and a drink. Generous in size with fresh ingredients. Big entrée salads are good; try the buffalo chicken salad for a nice, spicy kick(order the dressing on the side). Be prepared to wait 10 minutes or so as each order is prepared when ordered. Owner/manager is friendly and eager to please. Seating is limited; outdoor sidewalk seating is added during the lunch hour, and is pretty full every day. Brisk business of both dine-in and take-out orders.

First things first, I love their shrimp poboy and tater tots! That’s what I order 98% of the time. I have had their steak finger basket and fish and shrimp basket, but was not very impressed because they over cooked the steak fingers and fish. Other than that, my co-workers and I make a trip to this small burger joint every so often and everyone seems to love what they order. There are maybe 2 or 3 people working here for the busy lunch hours. The owner who works the register and takes orders also runs around and serve the food. He’s always moving and working fast to try and serve food as fast as he can. That being said, we usually try to go there before rush hour or else your order could take a long time. Overall, the food is delicious, the service is decent, and the price isn’t outrageous for being in downtown Houston. The only thing you need to keep in mind is go when it’s not rush hour OR expect your food to take a good while. We just go early to beat the rush hour because their food is worth it!

With few options open on a Saturday in downtown, I headed toward Wimpy’s. Reviews were overall very good, so I figured it couldn’t be too bad. I ordered the chicken tenders after asking the owner which is more popular… hamburgers or chicken tenders. He assured me that people like both equally. I’m a big fan of chicken tenders in general and always order a trio of sauces — gravy, ranch, and honey mustard — to go with it. My thoughts? Chicken tenders — 3 generously-sized tenders. The batter is difficult to describe… almost like a corny dog, a hush puppy, and a funnel cake got together with pepper. Not good, but not awful… mostly strange. The chicken itself was a real breast — not processed — but tasted like the chicken pieces that come in a can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup. A very distinct taste that makes me confused about how it ended up in an unprocessed piece of chicken. Gravy — tasted like licorice. Very off-putting to say the least. Ranch — watery, but ok taste Honey mustard — gooey vinegar taste Fries — decent with a nice spicy flavor Overall a really disappointing experience.

This place is directly across the street from my office and went there for lunch and the place was packed. A completely unassuming place with about 20 tables, and small counter where your order is taken and the cook begins to prepare your burger. It’s one of those place you go to and wish you had one close to your home. I had combo which included a Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries, and a large drink with tax the total came to $ 9.50. Very reasonable when you consider the size of the burger and fries. There folks are not shy about serving you food. I’ll be returning soon.

This is a great burger joint. They seem to perfectly cook the bacon every time. The only downside is they seem to get hurt by the lunch rush(adds 6 – 10 minutes on the cook time from my experience). I haven’t strayed away from the bacon cheeseburger because it’s so good.

Came across this place while waiting for my bus and glad I did. Had the chorizo, eggs and potato breakfast tacos and they were great. Quick and easy! And buy 2, get the 3rd free. How can you argue about a free breakfast taco! Sure I’ll be making this a stop frequently!

Tuck right next to the Russo’s lies Wimpy’s Burgers. On a Thursday, I came with a group of five coworkers around 11:00AM. We beat the lunch rush and had time to peruse the menu and ask questions. As an FYI, the first burger on the menu – the Wimpy Hamburger – simply means a plain old hamburger from«Wimpy’s.» We had thought it was some specialty burger with a secret of sauce or something. That’s was not the case, so we quickly moved on to the next items on their menu. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and enjoyed it. The burger was juicy and filling. You also get a good portion of fries, which you can enjoy with spicy ketchup. Overall, it was a decent price for the amount of food you get. As others have mentioned, it takes a bit of time for the food to come out. However, this just means that the burgers are freshly made. Also, beat the rush by coming around 11AM. When we left(around 11:45−12ish), there was quite the line. I would definitely return again!

I’m not usually a big burger person but this place has some of the best burgers I’ve had in Houston. Sometims there is a wait, but it’s busy so I’m not surprised. I would say it’s better to order to eat there than get to-go unless you call ahead with your order. The meal includes burger, fries, and drink, and there are additional side options. They also have grilled cheese sandwiches and BLTs. Prices are consistent with those of downtown. Highly recommended.

The turkey burger is reallllly yummy! Big, juicy, tender and flavorful! The buns are nicely toasted and the staff is very nice! This burger joint is a block from my building downtown. .. there is always a long line at lunch time(GOAT11AM to be ahead of the crowd!) My coworkers enjoy the beef burgers there. Order the Ultimate Burger with everything on it! It is a bit pricey but it is downtown.

By far one of my worst dining experiences. From the time I entered the door, ordered and got my food it was a little over 30 minutes. I got the ultimate, which was a half pound with bacon and cheese. The bun was extremely huge makes the burger look big and the patty small. i didn’t think there was anything unique about the burger. There were two people preparing the burgers and maybe one cook. My opinion, little under staffed for a restaurant right in downtown. No organization and the employees kept asking each other what burgers were what. All the customers looked furious and tired of the wait. I may have gone on a bad day, but will definitely not be returning.

I came in with the intention of grabbing a burger this afternoon. I decided to go for the fajita salad since the menu called it out as being fresh. I waited 15 – 20 minutes for my food. Since I expected fresh I wasn’t disappointed in the wait time, plus I had no plans afterwards. The chicken was hot and fresh. There was guacamole, a bit of eggs, and a couple of cucumbers and tomatoes added. Overall, not a bad salad. The lettuce was on its last leg, but the salad was still decent, especially since the meat was hot. I had ranch dressing which seemed a bit watery. Fajita salad comes with chicken, beef, or you can get it mixed. Service was basically taking the order and delivery of my food. It met expectations, but especially since it seemed family owned, I would have expected a smile or two:) It’s still worth a try.

Wimpys is a decent hamburger place. The bun was a little to thick for my taste. The fries were good and nicely seasoned. I also really liked the jalapeño ketchup that they put on each table. However, it took 20 minutes to get my order. Perhaps its because my order was so unexpected — a hamburger and french fries. Here is some free advice to the owner — get a new cook. There is no reason for a 20 minute wait at a hamburger joint especially during the lunch rush. You see a bunch of folks walk in, it is highly likely they want a hamburger. Probably a good idea to throw a bunch of patties on the grill, but that’s just me. There was a table of 12 guys next to me. Their order came dribbling in over 10 minutes. What the hell are you people doing back there in the kitchen? 10 guys walk in, throw 10 patties on the damn grill. Its a freaking hamburger shoppe! In summary, if you are really craving a hamburger than Wimpy’s is not a bad choice. Just be sure to you have plenty of time to wait for your order.

Great little burger place. Great service. The food was delicious! We brought in a group of 8 and we’re served quickly. Not a single order was wrong! The fries were delicious and their selection of sauces was a nice little touch!

Nice little burger place with friendly owners. I got here early as I read the place fills up quickly, and ordered the mushroom swiss burger with fries and a drink. It took a bit longer than I would have expected for the food to come out, which isn’t really a bad thing, but I think they only have about 3 people working the place. The burger looked really good when it came out, but I found it to be a bit on the over done side, had it been a bit less well done they would be 4 star for sure! The fries were good, but what made them better was the Jalapeño Katchup! I think I will give them another try sometime but maybe order something different.
