Specialties

West Houston Christian Center is a spirit filled, non-denominational church in Houston, Texas. We are a charismatic, word of faith church that is culturally and racially diverse.

History

Established in 1989.

West Houston Christian Center was birthed in 1989 in the home of Pastors Jack and Mary Jean Pidgeon. The first Sunday saw a crowd of 16 people with an overflow area consisting of their dinning room and children’s church in an upstairs bedroom. Two weeks later, West Houston Christian Center moved to the Alief YMCA where each Sunday the church was set up prior to the service and torn down immediately after. The church grew to 80 people, and 3 years later, West Houston was moved to its first permanent building, seating 200 people. West Houston is currently in its brand-new 700-seat auditorium.

Jack P.

Business Owner

The founding pastors of WHCC are Jack and Mary Jean Pidgeon. They grew up in the Houston area and have a heart for the city of Houston. Each was saved in a denominational church at a young age, but as they grew, so did their hunger to know God in a personal way. In the late 70’s each had a radical experience with the Living God. They were born again and baptized in the Holy Ghost. In 1984, God called Pastor Jack out of the insurance agency he had built for 18 years into full-time ministry and he was supernaturally invited to join the staff of Braeswood Assembly, where he and his family had been serving for 8 years.

Pastor Jack served faithfully under Pastor Earl J. Banning at Braeswood Assembly until 1989. Then, the Lord spoke to him through Luke Chapter 5: 1 – 11, about «launching out into the deep». Shortly after, West Houston Christian Center was born. Pastor Mary Jean Pidgeon has been in full-time ministry for 25 years.
