It was under massive construction, had super expensive clothing and students work there… it was never going to be exceptional. But some of the employees were friendly to an old lady like me and there were some good sales… I don’t think they got the price on one right, but I wasn’t going to bother to explain it. I do love all the UH accessories. More people need to show their UH pride. Surely this will be a higher rating once the construction is done.

The books here are ridiculously priced and the customer service here is terrible. The redeeming factor for this place is all the UH merchandise they sell. Other than that I don’t know why people would buy something here unless they are buying poppers, access codes, or if they are a naïve freshmen who will later learn not to purchase their textbooks here.

I no longer buy books here. I don’t want to support them at all. One of the«textbook managers» has a stick up her ass all the time and has a horrible attitude. The other workers here are fine. They’re actually friendly and helpful(sometimes). After trying to resolve an issue with them where they incorrectly charged me a $ 70 late fee for an «overdue rental»(I already returned it weeks before with a FULL refund), I’m finally tired and done with this bookstore. It was a big hassle to try and solve it, and I still find myself corresponding with them via e-mail and phone to fully rectify it. Be careful and double, triple, quadruple check your bank statements if you return anything. Make sure they don’t charge you a late fee if it’s not really late. Sometimes they screw up the paperwork. To buy your stuff, try online or… anywhere else. UH bookstore sucks and they, like UH itself, will rip you off until you have nothing left in your pockets. And don’t bother trying to sell your books back, they give you pennies.

Sure, this is a college bookstore, but it’s owned and operated by Barnes & Noble. There is a nice little selection of interesting books to buy there, outside of textbooks. It’s somewhere that’s nice to visit when at the University Center on-campus if you have a little time to kill.

how many times can i repeat the saying, «gouging students for shitty books is a crime!!!» i am a u of h alumni and feel that like most university bookstores, the u of h bookstore buyback the students books at unreasonable prices(1⁄3 of the price of new), and resells books at preposterous prices(¾ of the price of a new book) ONE more time, lets all say together now! «STOPGOUGINGPOORSTUDENTS!!!» lets buy books online(like amazon) and force this place to compete with the online world or shut down! that will teach them!
