The Westmore at Bellaire Apartments

Over all, I would say that my stay at these apartments have been really great. Super clean and family friendly. Cheaper than most places for the area and the size of apartment. What has made the experience so much easier and enjoyable is Andrea R. who is one of the managers at this property. I know Leasing Offices can be a little swamped at times and the experience can be somewhat tedious, but Andrea has been awesome. Everytime I’ve contacted her with an issue or a question, she’s been extremely helpful, courteous, and fast! I wish everyone was like that, so thank you Andrea for all your hard work! :)

Definitely a nice place to live. The area is great and the unit is nice. The staff is friendly and does its job. I have yet to notice anything above and beyond from this apartment complex yet but I am satisfied so far

It’s been about 5 months and none of these issues have been addressed.
Every time we invite someone come over, we have to leave our apartment and walk to the gate to let them in, or they have to do a car dance when someone with a keycard rolls up.
When I wrote this review originally, I asked the front office about the front gate’s keypad not working, and they said «4 months» which seemed kind of funny and arbitrary, but here we are!
Good place to live, asks people for feedback, doesn’t act on any of them.
PS. the hot tub water is green right now after being empty for at least half a year.

The management sucks! The lap pool and the hot tub are not working since october 2015!!!

Reviewers that complain about break ins/​security need to realize that crime has no address. You can live in the suburbs, a farm, or in an apartment community, and break ins will still occur. It is by no means something that happens on a regular basis. Since I have been here, I have been notified of 2 – 3 incidents. I believe one was just an attempted break in, but we were still notified.
This property has taken good measures (gate attendant, remote access to open gate) to minimize the risk of people who shouldn’t be getting in actually doing so.
I have a dog and the options to have a patio/​semi private yard are great. There are, of course, people who do not pick up after their pets, but given the number of pets I see around here, it is a small percentage. Again, something the property cannot be blamed for. Laziness also has no address.
The apartment itself is great. The upgrades (granite/​stainless steel appliances in the kitchen) are nice. Laminate floors make it easy to clean in common areas, and the apartments were built with storage in mind. Most apartments (judging from the model, my own apartment, and pictures online), seem to have built-​in, floor to ceiling bookshelves. This may not seem like much, but it does make the apartment feel more like a house.
I haven’t met anyone I didn’t like while living here. Our neighbors are nice and approachable enough to discuss any happenings with.
I have put in several maintenance requests (once even requiring on call, emergency maintenance). Every time maintenance handled things promptly, fixed the problem, and left a note saying that they had been by.
Overall, I have enjoyed living here and plan on continuing to do so. I happened to see the low reviews that seemed to reflect isolated incidents and vaguely refer to ‘poor management’ as the issue. I have not had to bring any issues to management’s attention, but the times I have been to the office, I was treated nicely and was helped with whatever I needed. I felt it necessary to write a review that reflected the good experience I (as well as I’m sure other residents) have had.

I love the space The Westmore at Bellaire has done a great job I only have issues with my appliances but they will take care of it the next day.

Just moved in and I love it! Very nice community, everyone is very helpful. Maintenance is quick. There is also a couple security guards at night, which make it a safe and quiet community

Just moved in several months ago and I want to comment on some things that would have made my move here better.
This place is by far the best priced apartment complex you will find in this area!!! It has everything to offer, from single to 3 bedroom homes. The front office people aren’t the most prompt, but if you keep nagging them, you will eventually get the answers you want.
There are NO roaches or pest issues! None, so don’t worry about that! However, there is an extremely large population of pets. More specifically, dogs who love to bark. That is by far this worst thing about this place. If you can look past that, you’ve found your dream home.
I absolutely love living here and it’s been a joy to be in this area.

The apartments are nice enough, but the management is absolutely terrible. Every single person that I’ve spoken to during my two years is always incredibly rude. Whenever I have an issue of some sort I just get a «not my problem» response from them. I have never once felt that my concerns were promptly addressed. I usually have to bring up an issue several times before it gets resolved. My dryer once caught on fire one day before I was going out of town and I was told that it wasn’t considered an emergency and I would have to wait two days. I don’t know why good service is so hard to find. I don’t recommend living here.

Great please to live. Lots of amenities. Lots of parking for guests and tenants. Pool. Grills. Hot tubs. Gym. Friendly people. Lots of pets near lots of great places to hang out.

I have been living at the Westmore for almost 4 years now and I have been, for the most part, very pleased with my experience. I love the location of the property, which is very close to the Galleria, Downtown, and all major highways. It’s hard to find an apartment of high quality in Bellaire for the rates you’ll find at the Westmore (though, they do increase every year, but I suppose that’s just a standard thing.)
There were some growing pains with the change from CWS to Greystar, but now things seem to have settled with a more consistent and permanent management team. The paid reserved parking spots are very annoying, especially considering there are so many residents and parking is scarce as it is. It just seems like an unnecessary initiative to squeeze more money out of residents considering that, unless you’re paying for covered garage parking, they aren’t anything special. Just convenient. It’s also very annoying to see the front gates open for no apparent reason (or because they are broken.) In such a high crime area/​city, and especially since we’ve had some crime issues, that definitely needs to be something better maintained.
But, beyond that, I have few complaints. Maintenance is good about keeping up the grounds (though residents are AWFUL about cleaning up after their pets) and quick to respond to repair requests. There are some issues with flooding and standing water in some areas, but I think maintenance does what they can. Management doesn’t always seem very effective about enforcing issues like pet waste, noise, etc. They also aren’t always diligent about notifying residents when packages have arrived in the office.
The units are pretty nice, though there needs to be upgrades done to ALL of them, and not just selectively. Some appliances are old and in constant need of repair (though they will replace them after several complains.) The carpets aren’t that good and stain very easily. I have cracks in my walls that, so far, have not caused any problems but are still quite prominent.
The pool/​club amenities are a great added bonus. The apartment is very pet friendly with lots of green space and pet waste stations with baggies, and very close to a nice dog park.

Love the apartment. It is very large and beautiful. The parking is really the only downside but obviously not a deal breaker.

Parking is still a major issue since they have not reverted the poorly thought-​out «reserved parking». Prepare to walk long distances to your apartment after parking. (see previous review).
I’m adding one star because they finally allowed Comcast at the complex (previously only had access media 3 and a slowed version of att uverse for internet). Comcast internet speeds have been extremely fast, and surpassed att uverse in terms of both speed/​consistency.
It’s hard to recommend this complex until they revert /​do away with the paid reserved parking.

It’s a great location to live and the complex has awesome amenities, including a pool, sauna, and gym. Maintenance is excellent and always quick to respond. I’ve been here for five years and love it.

The best thing in this complex is the pool and the location. Management is absolutely horrible! I have made numerous phone calls and written numerous emails about several issues and have not gotten a response. My main concern is that I pay a monthly parking fee to park in a parking spot that other people park in on a weekly basis. I choose to pay for parking because overall there is never any parking in the complex. It’s almost like parking in undergrad where you have to circle the entire campus until you can find a spot. The complex also claims that the owner of the parking spot can call the associated complex towing company however, the towing company does not tow from the Westmore.

Let me start off with the only positive about this apartment. COMCAST IS FINALLY HERE!!! Thank goodness because all other services before it were inferior and horribly slow!

— these happen once a month in warm temp times.
SCAM SCAM SCAM ALERT!!!:
— I believe it’s called Sureity?
— Our poor dear incompetent Sandi lied through her teeth and convinced us to sign up for an alternative service as opposed to the $ 700 safety deposit (which we had the check in hand).
— It does not cover the cost of breaking you lease as I and many other residents were lead into thinking. (which would have been the only benefit)
— All it is, is a Bondsman service. You are literally paying a couple hundred dollars to hire a bondsman to come after you if you do not pay any damages upon move out.
— DON’T DO IT UNLESS YOU ARE POOR AND CANT AFFORD THE $ 700 AT MOVE IN.
UPS/​FED EX/​USPS:
— The mailman always comes after the office closes so packages are left on your door step. For the most part, your neighbors won’t steal your package however 2 of our packages went missing.
RESERVED PARKING:
The rooms are cheap for the area however shortly after we moved into the apartment complex, Theresa the manager started reserved parking. This flooded the parking lot with more than half of the parking spots near my building and nearby buildings being unavailable. The walk from the garage isn’t bad but I think that I shouldn’t have to get home in HOUSTON of all places before 3:30 in order to park near my apt.
RESERVED PARKING PRICES:
— Outdoor parking is $ 35 a month (which is far from reasonable as birds will bombard your car with crap if you are unlucky enough to get a spot under a tree.
— Garage parking is $ 50 a month
— If someone is parked in your spot the towing company takes hours to respond to your call.
— The only pro in all of these cons is that Maria will let you out of your parking spot «contract» if you do not want your spot anymore (or so she says).
ANSWERING SERVICES/​RETURNED CALLS:
— Don’t ever expect to get a return call from the current employees or management.
— The customer service is a joke in this area. Complex manager Maria is gone 75% of the time yet no one can answer any questions until «Maria gets back», voice mails are never returned, while in-​person requests and messages are ignored.
GYM EQUIPMENT:
— 1 – 2 of the 3 treadmills are always broken, it takes weeks to months to get them fixed, and when everything is finally fixed, it’s always packed during peek hours. Meh for the gym.
POOL:
— The pool is nice except for the fact that its always filled with leaves, dirt, and debris. YUCK!

This complex is safe, beautiful, and convenient to many places. The company that runs this complex, however, is horrible. I have lived in apartments my entire life, and never have I leased from a company so ridiculous. First of all, when I moved in THIRTEEN MONTHS AGO I was told that they were «in negotiations» with another cable provider as the current one they were under contract with was atrocious. They JUST started re wiring the buildings with the new cable provider– thirteen months later. Secondly, when I signed my lease the employee that helped us was new to the company and didn’t really know much of anything and she left the company a week after we signed our lease. Not really a big deal, as I have lived in apartments my entire life and I basically know the deal. This company requires a 60 day notice upon vacating, which I was completely unaware. When I sign a lease, I expect to be made aware of any polices that they have that are not «standard». I obviously am responsible to read my lease, I acknowledge this, but I still expect a company such as this to be thorough. Obviously I signed the lease and take full responsibility that it was my fault for not reading every word in the lease and assuming that the standard 30 day notice applied to this property. So my husband goes into the office to give our 30 day notice and is made aware of the policy. He explains to the manager that we weren’t aware and that we overlooked this in our lease, we were planning to give 30 day notice but have already vacated the premises and were going to give them permission to enter immediately to re-​lease, is there anyway that they can make an exception and allow us to give 30 days rather than 60. We have purchased a home and to make an additional months rent on top of our mortgage is something we are not excited about. She advised us to write a letter to her manager in regards to this and told us that is is up to the manager’s digression, and that it may be approved. They denied the request and couldn’t have cared less about us. I understand it is my responsibility to fulfill my contractual agreement, but as a tenant it really upset me that they weren’t interested in the slightest in helping me out. My husband and I were perfect tenants, never a single complaint from us or about us, and we always paid our rent on time. I expected to be a little more ‘valued’ than we were.
When we moved in, the parking was wonderful (this was actually the number one selling point). Two months after we moved in they decided to add the option for residents to purchase a «reserved» spot for an additional $ 50/​month. It started out it was only to be the first few spots by the entrance to each building, and it turned into basically the entire parking lot and garage as well. Parking is now horrible, you have to park on the 3d or 4^th level of the garage and walk up and down the stairs, or outside on the other side of the complex. A reserved spot should come included with each residence, for the price of these apartments.
The beautiful business center is a joke. The air conditioner is consistently broken, it took them 5 months to get a working television in the upstairs portion, the WiFi signal is weak and DOES NOT reach anywhere near the pool, and the chairs they have are broken and/​or extremely cheap.
The complex is safe and the apartments are nice, but the customer service, the parking, and the façade of wonderful amenities make this complex not worth the price. There are two complexes next door that are a much better option. I would definitely not recommend this property to anyone that I know.

Ok. Like the last reviewer, I don’t understand what the fuss is all about. I love these apartments! I have been living here for 3 years now and I have not experienced anything bad. May be somethings like parking are a little incovenient at times but nothing that is unbearable. It is a peaceful community, pet friendly, updated apartments, nice and basic amenities, friendly management, packages don’t get lost, maintainance is always fast. I have recommended this place to people and 3 of my friends moved in here over the past few years and all of them love it here.
I have lived in other areas and apartments all over Houston (both high end and lower end) and let me tell you that the picture is not rosy anywhere else either. Infact, no other apartment is even going to come close and hit all your points on your checklist of being updated, affordable, nice and being in a good location.

So the funny thing about Unilocal and other review sites is that you get the very best experiences and the very worst; none of which are ever really in the middle. I don’t like to post reviews, but I can’t have a decent & beautiful complex have such a bad review rating on Unilocal without trying to help out.
The main problem is is that people’s expectations are a bit out of wack. I have read the other reviews on here and I’m a bit disturbed that people actually try to bring down a business when they clearly don’t have an understanding of how to be objective when looking at situations and doing their research on other complexes to see what is standard.
Parking — yeah, since they started the reserved parking, it has been a little more difficult and it can suck sometimes when it’s raining or you have a lot of groceries to bring in, but honestly, when it is raining, I’d rather park in the parking garage anyways & I always find a spot.
As far as cleanliness in corners and breaker boxes; whatever. Just do it yourself if it bothers you that much. The funny thing about cleaning is you technically should be doing it daily (some of it), so you might as well put it on your list since things get dirty on a daily basis.
Has anyone, by the way thought of making friends with the staff? It’s a funny thing about being nice, it works most times. People are more willing to help you out if you help them out.
My experience has been pretty decent… and I mean that in a good way. I feel safe here. There is a security guard at night that takes down visitor’s drivers licenses and names, so that it is controlled access to our community. My dog loves it. It is very pet friendly. They keep certain areas around the complex stocked full of doggie bags to pick up after your dog. It’s something I appreciate, since it would cost more money to go buy them as well as saves me the trouble to buy them.
The office staff has been very nice also. They’ve been very nice & helpful with my transferring units (I’m upgrading). Every time I’ve asked for something they’ve done it in a timely manner.
Also, there are bad reviews for every single apartment complex out there. Sometimes, you just have to make decisions, see the place, and see for yourself.
I hope this helps in your apartment hunt. There are perks of living here, like location (inside the loop; close to downtown & Galleria area). The pool is nice & always hopping during summertime, & has a good size gym. Have a great day!

First off, let me just say that I am not by any means one of those people that knit picks everything. I lived in an apartment before this in Austin for two years and didn’t put in a single maintenance request. Light bulbs, etc. I changed myself. I never complained, not once. On Saturday, I moved to Houston for my job. My father, who lives across the street, picked up a single key a few days before so that I had a way to get in after hours on my move-​in date. Anyway, I have had nothing but a bad experience so far. The pictures I am posting pretty much speak for themselves, but I feel I need to do a little more explaining. Please know that I am not stating every horrible/​disgusting detail, but here is a summary of the main points:
My place is still FILTHY. (My move in date was July 27^th and todays date is August 6^th). These pics are a FEW of the places I haven’t had the time to clean yet. (It was much worse upon arrival.) There was what appeared to be mold coming out of the air conditioning vents, dirt in every single crevis, a sticky residue covering the entire floor, dingy looking carpets and honestly the place smells like poo. (I have done what I can do fix some of this on my own because it was downright unbareable, but it is extremely hard to find the time when I am also trying to move my office.)
I have an «upgraded unit.» Can someone please tell me why my sinks don’t match? Sorry, had to laugh at this one. (See pics.) I would have been fine with the older sinks, but I think they need to match!- This to me is just a sign they do not care. The apartment is a joke compared to the pictures on their website.
You know that key I mentioned my dad picked up? Thats still the ONLY key that I have. I have been given the wrong set of keys twice. I transfered my mail on July 27 and STILL have not been able to check it. I have many final bills being mailed. No clue when I will be able to pay them.
My bathroom has flooded twice due to a leak in the ceiling. (Thank goodness I was home) Someone finally came out yesterday (from 3:30 to 4:00– said on paper that was left) and apparently replaced the flapper and wax bowl in my toilet. Huh? I do not know what this means. I didn’t know those things needed to be replaced, but what happened to fixing the bad leak in the ceiling? Does the flapper go into the ceiling? What happened to cleaning out the mold? *On a side note, the towel I left to absorb the dripping water on the floor was left on top of my loofa in the bathtub. SICK! How do I know that the water dripping isnt from the person’s toilet who lives above me?
The upgraded appliances in my kitchen are very nice, but the stove was blocking one of the two drawers, preventing me from utilizing it. I could tell that there was something hindering it from being pushed all the way to the wall, so my mom and I pulled the oven all the way out of the space to find pieces of what appeared to be an oven that had been there previously. After removing these items we were able to get the stove/​oven to fit without blocking the drawer. –Once again, this is pure carelessness and laziness on the staff’s part.
I have been to the office now 5 times trying to get a handle on the maintenance issues. I have also made numerous phone calls. I was either brushed off and told to come back at a later time when the manager was there, or told that they would put a work order in. The 5^th time I took off work early and was able to speak to an assistant manager (manager was too busy to see me). I have to say she was very nice and made me feel a lot better about the situation. She promised that she would have the head of house keeping in my apartment the following day with the maintenance man, and that I would have the rest of my keys waiting for me on my counter. Of course, this did not happen. What a slap in the face. If for some reason that was not possible, why didn’t I receive a phone call, email. anything?
I am at a loss for what to do. I feel I have been very understanding up until this point. I do realize mistakes happen and it is not a single person that is at fault here. However, the «nice route» isnt working, so I am speaking with an attorney this afternoon where I will be turning over ALL of my documented/​detailed info. I cant continue to live in a place that is unsanitary. I cleaned for 15+ hours and still don’t have a handle on it. Plus, I am willing to bet there is severe mold, which is extremely unsafe. I am not paying almost $ 1200 to live in a dump. Talk about misrepresentation.
Ive always treated my apartments as my own, I have never made a late payment in my life. At one apartment complex, I was even asked by the office if they could use my unit as their model until theirs was done with construction. I am a great tenant… However, I feel no one deserves this treatment. This place has made my first week in Houston a horrible one!
