Drove 45 minutes to get here for the lone purpose of getting the crawfish. We had read online how good they were; and being crawfish junkies, we thought it would be worth the long haul. Boy were we mistaken. Crawfish had absolutely no juice in the heads, not sure how that happens. Spice all over the outside, not where it counts though. On the other hand, I’m giving 3 stars because the service was excellent and the beer was good. People around us that got hamburgers looked happy. Probably a great place to eat, just not for crawfish. By far the poorest ones of the year for us.

Went here on a Wednesday for burger night and was given a slip of paper to circle the items i wanted in my burger. I accidentally circled tater tots and fries and the bartender(forgot his name) was surprised i did that and made sure I what I circled was correct. Other establishments may have just put the order in without double checking. He also warned me that the blue cheese they had on hand were not the crumbles but just the dressing. I might not have cared but it was nice to know he wanted the customer to be informed. I Give this place a thumbs up for price, their weekly specials, and attentive and chill staff. On an odd and random note, a guy sitting next to me was making a comment about the Rockets game that night to a customer beside him ordering togo(just to be friendly/sociable i suppose) and the togo guy just nonchalantly replied«!@#$ you, man.» with a dead-serious face and proceeded to take his food and leave the premise. The guy next to me was just dumbfounded and confused. Oh, Houston ^_^

This is a place that I used to frequent years ago. Imagine my dismay to return for an evening to find that the cloth-covered bar stools and chairs looked like they haven’t been cleaned, like, ever. We ordered food and when I grabbed a salt shaker, it was sticky and grimy. One of the first rules of food establishments should be to clean the condiment dispensers at least daily, who wants to touch grime-covered anything? The very worst was the ladies room. Only two stalls, not a big deal. But one toilet was stopped up and unflushable, and the other had a foam ceiling tile above it bulging downward as if it were about to burst. I would seriously rather cop a squat in the parking lot than use that restroom. This place needs a serious cleaning and some attention paid to things that have fallen into disrepair. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The staff was friendly and reasonably prompt, prices aren’t bad, but I can’t get past the filth.

Tuesday Steak Nights. Enough said. I love steak and I love steaks at a great deal. Every Tuesday and Saturday, they serve steak for just $ 12 and it comes with a salad and a baked potato. The food’s great. when it wants to be. I don’t know why I keep coming back, because this place is so inconsistent. I guess I just roll the dice and hope that this night will be a good night. The service is inconsistent. Some nights, I’ll get help right away, and some nights I probably will only see my server once. Sometimes, I can’t blame them since it tends to get busy on these designated nights, but sometimes, I hate the inconsistency. The time it takes for them to cook the steaks is usually a 45 minute wait, so don’t expect to come here and be in and out. I usually never have a problem with my steak not being rare enough or not cooked enough, because I like it medium well. However, I tend to go with friends who like it more on the rare side and on a bad night, it will be overcooked. Overall, the food and service is not consistent, but on a good night, the steak is so good, I just keep coming back for more in hopes that it’ll be a good night. Oh, and a live band always comes on at 9PM. They are a very talented bunch, but their volume level is unbearable. You cannot hold a conversation with your friends when they’re playing, so if you’re not ok with that, come before 9.

Our first visit was on the $ 12 steak night and it was delicious, so we decided to return a few weeks later. Our 2nd visit was also on a $ 12 steak night and steak was not up to par. Cooked wrong and all fat. But the reason for the one star is the customer service from the manager. When I complained to waitress about my steak the manager came over and asked«what’s the problem»! I let the manager know what was going on and to my Shock, he took my fork & knife and began to cut my steak at our table(over me mind you) pointing/poking at the pieces of meat. He then goes on to tell me «I should be eating it because it looks fine» as he is cutting my food. This has got to be the worst BS I’ve ever had done to us. And in the end we got $ 2 off our uneaten and touched by the manager steak! NEVERGOINGBACK!

Hey this is my first time coming for steak night and it’s the best steaks I’ve had in Houston. Better than Applebee’s steak I have to wait a half and hour for a happy meal size of a steak. I highly recommend people to come on Tuesday.

I came here on Tuesday for steak night. The live music was great, but unfortunately the venue was too packed and my party was forced to sit in the outside patio. The steak overall was alright, a bit too overcooked for medium rare but oh boy the baked potato was spot on. It wasn’t too tough, the butter, sour cream, bacon and onion was just enough. I loved it. I would come back just for the potato and definitely the beer.

As far as dive-bars go, this one is hard to top. It’s got a warm atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The bar staff is attentive, and usually takes care of my orders efficiently. They also have weekly specials, like the Tuesday steak night and the Wednesday burger and pint night, both of which are worth checking out. However, the food is somewhat mediocre, and they could stand to have a better beer selection. Though I think that the beer selection has more to do with distributor politics than it does with the bar’s selection process.

We came here on their $ 12 steak night on Tuesday. We have never been here before and the waitress told us to sit anywhere. She came up and asked for drink orders and gave us slips of paper for the steaks so I don’t really know what else is on their menu really. Anyways, steaks came out and it was cooked fine. More like the steak made at home and it wasn’t anything special but still good. It was pretty salty though but most likely because it’s made for drinking. The potato was flavorful and soft and the salad was just salad. The portion of the food was huge so definitely worth a try.

Their $ 12 steaks on Tuesdays are awesome. The meatloaf is ok. The chicken fried chicken is delicious and so are the fried mushrooms and fried okra. It may take a little longer during peak hours.

I want to love this place! Very relaxed dive bar feel with a decent selection of beer and food. Beer and pint night is pretty cool for $ 9 — but beware because extras like grilled onions and cheese cost extra.(pretty good burger)!! Have not tried their steak night yet but I’m a picky steak eater so not sure I ever will. Now, the downfall of this place — don’t expect fast service or attentive waitresses. The bar guys are way more attentive, get orders in and out quicker, and checked on us way more often.(I’ve gone with my fiancé as well as big groups with tons of guys). I love bartender Joel! Friendly, attentive, and an interesting person. Also, glass — we have found broken glass pieces in their beer multiple times!!! We have informed the waitresses and they have done nothing and have even re-used the broken glasses again. I’ve been here maybe half a dozen times and 4 times I have found or been scratched by their broken glasses. I’m not a tell the manager type of person so I’ve left it for the waitresses to fix and have seen that they do nothing so now I order bottled or canned beer — If I was to swallow glass and have my throat cut up(as it happened to a friend and the waitress did nothing) I will be PISSED

Service was good and plenty of parking on Friday. Skip the chilli unless you like greasy. I was asked ofif I wanted cheese and onion. I said sure. The bill arrived and was charged extra for cheese and onions. My friend’s margarita was good the first time with top shelf. The second time it was not top shelf. My drink was smooth. I’ll be back just for steak.

I only come here on either Tuesdays or Saturdays for their cheap steak. You could get a huge steak, a salad, with a side of a baked potato all for just $ 12. Pretty cheap! How does it work? They give you a slip of paper so you could choose how you want your steak cooked, what you want in your baked potato, and the dressing on your salad. It has never really been too busy during the hours I came for the special. The steak is juicy, seasoned very well, and sometimes full of fat which I dislike. Another reason I give it a 4 star is because of the inconsistent service. Most of the times, they are nice and attentive. However, there was one time where I came in with a water bottle like half full. The waitress told me that outside drinks weren’t allowed and asked if I wanted her to throw it away. Should I have said no? And she was pretty rude about it too. Like why do I have to throw away a water bottle, can’t I just put it away? Whether she threw my bottle away or if I had just put it up, I would’ve ordered water anyway. I understand if someone brought in soda, tea, or coffee from another store but c’mon… Nonetheless, I will always come back to this place despite that absurd incident.

For starters, I was surprised that such a great place was at such a location. I am used to most hangout spots in this area being closer to Westheimer. Nope, this one is closer to Richmond. What a place to check out! Their drinks aren’t too expensive, their food is well-priced too, and their waitresses(only waitresses served me… not being sexist. lol) were able to accommodate my vegan requests, and I had a great overall experience. I came here for a blues night out with friends. I see this spot is known for their steak. I was able to take full advantage of the friends someone I came with had ordered. Their fries are the best I have had in a minute! I ordered some onion rings. not bad. I also ordered a shot of fireball. I looked at my check and it was under $ 10. I was like«WHAAA???» I wasn’t going to argue the price up though.lol. This is a trailer with a nice patio. I was told the place used to be a church… I can/can’t really see that depending on where I am in the place. If they’re having a special event, I plan to be back. Good folks.

Most reviews here are talking about steak night, but we came here for burger and pint night and their crawfish. Let’s start with the crawfish because they’re excellent. If you’re looking for classic, Cajun-style crawfish reasonably priced and cooked up in an unpretentious atmosphere, you came to the right place. The crawfish here are my wife’s favorite in Houston and the fact that they’re served in a big bucket keeps them piping hot vs. the spread out approach adopted by BB’s(also fantastic, but get cold faster) and others. The first time we came for burger and pint night, the service was pretty inattentive, but the burger was pretty solid(served with chips, not fries… those are extra on pint night) and they had Ballast Point’s Sculpin on tap for $ 5. You cannot beat that. I did pay $ 1.50 extra to add bacon and cheese. More on that below. Note on burger and pint night: The first time we came we each had 3 beers. Each subsequent beer after our first(that came with the deal) was $ 3. When we returned, only our second beer was $ 3. After that, I paid $ 4.75 for a Shiner Bock, which is borderline highway robbery. Sadly, they were also out of Sculpin. In my opinion the website is pretty misleading: «Build your burger and get a pint every Wednesday for $ 9 and you keep the glass. Plus get $ 3 refills of any draft!» 1.) You’re not really building your burger for $ 9, which is fair because $ 9 for a regular burger, pint of beer and keep the glass is a good deal, but everything beyond lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles is extra. 2.) «Refills» is plural. If only my first refill is $ 3, it should state that. Plain and simple. We love delicious and divey joints and have always been pleased with HIdeaway’s food and atmosphere, but I’d encourage you to sit at the bar. They bartenders/wait staff rarely come around to the tables and I found myself(both times we went) getting up to go ask for refills, ask for the check, etc. You’ll be waiting awhile if you expect them to come check on you at your table. [OVERALL]: 4+ for food, but 2(which is generous) for service = pretty average dining experience. Come for their steak night, pint night and/or crawfish, but come prepared to be patient.

Our friend took us here for the Tuesday steak deal. For $ 12 you get a steal, baby potatoe and a salad. Overall it was a really good deal and the food was good but I had ordered my steak medium rare and it came rare border-line raw… For a steak place that is a little troubling that they don’t cook the temp properly… but other than that it was a pretty good meal. We came in super late so it was understandable that the service was a little spotty. They had a live band and while the other patrons seemed to enjoy it. I thought they were playing way to loud. When I go somewhere, I would like to be able to talk to people without screaming at them. Over all I would go back. I gave them a lower review bc of the cook on my steak. If it had been what it was, it would have been 4⁄5.

Disclaimer: this review is for the Tuesday steak night only! The hideaway is a bit of a surprise to me considering the location(Dunvale & Richmond) and even though I live just a few minutes away from here, I kept failing to come and check this place out for steak night. Well no more! I made it a point to come out here and see what they had to offer. I arrived around 8:00 pm and place was packed but parking wasn’t an issue. I walked in and gave a quick look around to see that most tables were taken so I decided to just sit at the bar. I told the bartender that I wanted steak, so she gave me a slip of paper to write down my order. I had to write my name, how I would like the steak cooked, whether or not I would like some toppings on my steak, and what toppings I would want on my potato. Pretty neat, I thought. It’s a great system to ensure that the bartender/waitresses will not mess up your order. If they somehow mess up your steak, you can just blame the cook. The bartender who was helping me was not too bad. She wasn’t as friendly as I’d hoped her to be, but she wasn’t dismissive either. Pretty much, she was just being a bartender doing her job. Nothing more, nothing less. My steak came out pretty quickly and it was de-li-cious! For $ 12 you get 16 oz ribeye, a small bowl of salad, and a baked potato! I asked for my steak to be cooked medium, and the cook didn’t mess it up. My baked potato was loaded with sour cream, cheese, bacon just as I’d asked. Awesome value for what you pay. Plus, if you want some drinks with your steak, their drinks are very reasonably priced. Highly recommended to try. I also noticed that they had walls of dollar bills. I did ask the bartender what that was all about and she said that she wasn’t sure when it started, but customers would write something, anything on a dollar bill, and they would staple it to the wall of the bar. That’s pretty neat. Now I have to go-to bars for steak nights in the area. One on Tuesday at the Hideaway, and the other one at Three Sheets for Thursday night. Awesomesauce!

Came for steak night tonight and I was pleased. This is a cool dive bar with indoor and outdoor seating. For $ 12 you get a big steak, nice baked and dressed tater and a surprisingly good little salad. Whomever cooks their steaks knows what they are doing. I didn’t have high expectations for a steak cooked at a bar for a «steak night» meal. Mine was a very good piece of meat that was properly seasoned with(what I think) was just salt and pepper. Damn it was good! I will remember it for a long time. Also I recommend getting the onions and mushrooms for the small extra fee! Also tonight was their blues band with the famous guitarist(Rick Lee) who can play his axe with his tongue. And on top of that the trio sounded pretty good. I found out they have a burger and pint night on Wednesdays for $ 9. Comes with fries and a glass you can keep for refills that only cost $ 3. Hmmm, I will probably return for that as soon as my schedule will allow it.
