The Art Of Yelpertaining Elite Event @ James Craig Furnishings

This event couldn’t have come at a better time! I mean sure I was scolded for my black curtains and sliding door, but I probably deserved it… and thanks for all the great design tips!

Belated review, as per usual, d’oh! But here’s a brief little review anyway!
So given that I’m no longer in my twenties (*sobbbbb*), I think it’s probably proper to not longer consider IKEA as the primary source for home furnishings. Not that there’s anything wrong with IKEA, but it just reminds me of college-​everything and I want to attempt to be more sophisticated in my design tastes (emphasis on «try»). So this event popped up and deemed it a perfect opportunity to scope out more elegant home furnishings.
I very much enjoyed my couple of glasses of bubbly and the boyfriend enjoyed his white wine — perfect for the warm day that had presented itself. The Counter once again hooked everyone up with adorable little sliders with about a billion toppings to choose from. Sadly, for me, the sliders were all beef, but I am looking forward to one day sampling the vegan burger available at the actual restaurant, which was across the street from James Craig Furnishings.
This event was slightly more low-​key than some of the chaotic (but insanely fun) Unilocal Elite events, which worked out well because obviously there’s probably nothing cute about a bunch of drunk Unilocalers staining pricier custom-​made furniture with miscellaneous alcoholic beverages. As for the furniture — it was all quite beautiful and had me believing that I too, can be a grown-​up. .. one day. Hey, my current crib came furnished, so no need to be a thirty-​something-​old until I really really have to. Boo-​yah!

Since I just moved into a new home, this was the perfect Unilocal event for me! Mr. James Keathley of James Craig Furnishings was very nice and helpful. When most of the items are customized, it becomes tricky for me. I need lot of suggestions and pictures and like to see everything to get the best picture in my head. James Craig had all of those things, a wall of swatches and fabrics, lots of pictures and some select designs. I didn’t get a chance to get a lot of ideas for our master bedroom, but we will have to go back for more.
Then there was the food… My husband and I have been wanting to try burgers from The Counter for a while. When a slider can still taste delicious when it’s not hot off the grill, makes you wonder what the proper burger would taste like. They had a delicious aioli sauce on the burgers that made it go from a good slider to a great slider. We will definitely be going back. I also have heard from many of my veg friends, that there is a very good vegetarian burger that I will have to try.

What a great low-​key event… I discovered some really great ideas for changes that my partner and I want to incorporate in our new home together. The staff was really helpful and as always, Farrah was a hospitable host for the event.
I also discovered a new burger spot right across the street that I want to go and explore.

This was a great laid back event that exposed me to a business that I will revisit in the future. The owner was very customer service oriented. The counter provided great burgers… will make a special visit there soon. The champaign was a nice touch to have with the design affair. I’m glad I made it out to the event!

The kind of furniture you get when you are old enough to have nice things. I must have sat in several different chairs in which all were comfortable to a point that I did not want to get up. I had visions of how I want my next house to be like. It was grand. We inquired about outdoor furniture. Wicker, painted aluminium, a number of different swatches with weather and sun proofed surfaces… clearly lots to choose from. Ideas are a plenty here.
Wine flowed. Before I continued my indulging I asked to make sure that there was a lot stocked up. Sure enough there was. I optioned for the wine instead of the champagne due to the face it was way to early in the evening to start with that stuff. Champagne can turn an evening pretty quickly. The burger sliders were amazing. juicy, tasty, and all the bacon I could put on there. The condiments were pretty tasty as well as it was not your run of the mill ketchup and stuff. One of the reps told me about the burger and beer night. I will make my way there soon.
All in all a great event with a unique twist on an open house of sorts.

Another awesome Unilocal event!
One thing I love about Houston is the southern charm among many people down here. Mr. James Keathley, the owner of James Craig Furnishings, exuded hospitality in his warm greeting, friendly conversation, and appreciation for us being there. He definitely made us feel welcome! Similar praise goes to Farrah and everyone who helped with this event.
The mini-​burgers from The Counter were FREAKIN’ INCREDIBLE! I’m not sure how they pack so much flavor and juicy deliciousness into each burger. I will be back for more! Wine and champagne flowed all evening. They also complemented the food well.
Big thanks to everyone who made this event possible. It was great being introduced to new interior design resources, sampling those burgers, and especially meeting new/​catching up with friends.

Design tips I’m so desperately in need of? I’m so there!
This event was a little different from all the other Unilocal events I’ve been too. For one, I’ve never been to one that took place at a furnishing store.
When we arrived, we received our name tags and I head straight for the drinks. Darien was there filling everyone’s glass with either white wine or champagne. Both were great but I definitely enjoyed the white more.
After we browsed the store, we spoke with designers that tried to fill my art incapacitated mind with ideas on what to do with my house. Even though they were great to talk to, I wish they had given me more new ideas. I have an empty space upstairs that is kind of awkward but all they could think of was a reading/​sitting area or an office. I don’t really need either and I’m very tempted to just go with the idea of a swing that one of the designers thought of for fun.
As for the food, The Counter was able to provide sliders that were awesome! Even though they weren’t hot anymore, the little patties still had a nice grill flavor. We even had a great option of items to top our burgers. We were given a coupon, and I will be definitely taking advantage of that!
