Our server Jamil was outstanding and him and the hostess both expressed genuine interest in me and my wife and gave us great service. We both ordered the bone in ribeye which with the brisket stuffed jalapeños as an appetizer. The steaks were perfectly cooked medium rare as we requested, and all of the food came out very quick. If a manager sees this, please be sure to keep in mind you’ve got some good cooks and waitstaff employed, and that means a lot coming from me, as I’ve been in the service and hospitality industries for years and have very high expectations. It was expensive, about $ 114, but we did order the most expensive items on the menu as well as 2 beers and a glass of wine. With the cost of food plus the service we received, it was worth it, and there are also cheaper options on the menu as well(both of the steaks were 20 oz, so they were huge). Will return the next time we are in Houston.

Went early this past Friday evening and the place was nearly empty. It’s dark and very outdated, not in a good way either. The seating isn’t very comfortable. But at least the happy hour selections/prices were great! Our server was very friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Service in general here is on point. Unfortunately, the only reason I won’t be returning is because of the food. While the appetizer was excellent(really just guacamole and chips), the entrees not so much. I order the Thunderbird chicken tacos. I picked out not one, but four chicken bones out of my mouth, ouch! The flavor was great and I was hungry, but I was scared of hurting myself. I never made it to the third taco. My boyfriend wasn’t impressed with his steak but loved the baked sweet potato and his spicy margarita. Shame.

Place has really declined in quality and service. Food used to be really great. From the old salad to the not so fresh bread to the dry Bacon Wrapped Filet that was slightly over cooked it’s gone downhill. I have given this place a few tries hoping to get that great food from back in the day but I think there months if not weeks away from going under.

I don’t know why everyone has been so hard on this place(or maybe I just went after they turned it around). We were looking for a place to eat before The Martian and found this near the theater. The service was beyond attentive from the moment we walked in the door and the manager checked in on us a few times. They had tasty drinks and brought us two freebie breads as we waited for our food. When it came to the table, all the food was hot and delicious! My husband loved his Son of a Biscuit. It was so unique and delicious. I also loved my tacos and tortilla soup. Don’t count this place out just from the star rating and try something different. The real champions of their menu may surprise you.

Bug in drink . $ 6 for a pint of shiner bock? You have to be kidding me. I think we got overcharged.

Love the menu and the food! Only disappointed once with a take out order of the crab stack salad! But I would also recommend a deep cleaning and updating od the restaurant.

This is not a spot I would pick out on my own, my husband received a gift card months ago, so we decided to go for lunch. Our server seemed busy so I asked another server if he could let our server know we were ready to order. He didn’t say, «ok I’ll get him.» Instead he said, «I’ll take your order.» I had the lunch special pick 2 for $ 8.99. I decided on soup and ½ sandwich. The smoked chicken tortilla was lacking the flavor I expected. There was too much cheese in it. I was cold so I finished almost all of it. I ordered ½ hill country brisket sandwich(no onion). It is truly ½ a sandwich, however it is delicious. The brisket was well seasoned and very tender. I was most impressed with the bbq sauce. I know, I know, bbq sauce?!? I am often disappointed with restaurant bbq sauce, not here. The sauce was spicy with a hint of sweet and the thickness was just right. My hubby had the nachos off the appetizer menu. It’s huge and definitely shareable(boxed the remainder). I sampled them and they were wonderful. He even mentioned the tenderness and flavor the steak. The manager came by our table more than once. He was friendly and funny. All in all the experience and food will lead me back soon!

Birthday day dinner gone bad. My sister and I visited this restaurant to celebrate our birthdays. The service was good the food was average. I left my gift bag on the table and the staff did not turn it in. I hope the gift I did not get to enjoy bless the the person who did not turn it to management. The sad part is because they were closing we left the table and talk another 20 minutest outside of the door. No one ever came to return the gift. And I am sure our table was cleaned promptly since it was closing time. That was my first time to eat in this chain restaurant, no sure if I will return to any in this chain.

Ordered a Mexican Martini and got a margarita with jalapenos?! Ordered steak queso, steak was missing, canned mushrooms were thrown on top as garnish, and it was watery/bland. Ordered House Smoked Sirloin Medium Rare, but recieved raw steak that was super tough, difficult to cut, luke warm, and no flavor. Ordered asparagus, recieved undercooked, sour as if it was expired, and flavorless. The bread and butter was delicious. Also, my husband had the loaded mashed potatoes and repored these were delicious. My husband and I had an overnight layover in Houston and we were super excited for Texas Land and Cattle. We are military and used to eat at the location in San Antonio when we were stationed at Ft Sam Houston from 2011 – 2014 This location in Houston was such a disappointment. We visited Saturday 8÷22÷15 around 6p and the place was DEAD… this should have been the first red flag! :(Next time we will go to Outback or Texas Road House. So sad and such a waste of $ 75!!!

Ordered: avocado mash appetizer(meh), sirloin(great), and ribs(pretty good). Service was prompt and they were quick to refill drinks. I think the prices are a bit on the high side of normal for a steakhouse of this caliber, but we enjoy coming here. I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad visit.

Sorry if this offends anyone but it is my opinion and my family’s. Worst place to eat! everything was bland, undercooked or overcooked. Everything was dry. The desserts were diabetes and heart attack on a plate. The places looks run down. The timing in between plates took forever. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. 0 stars.

Overall super experience at Tx Land n Cattle. The tables were set up for us as were high chairs for our little ones, without us asking — that was very courteous and thoughtful. Our waiter Jorge was the kind you’d want to hire for your servant in your own home. He had to adjust his methods a bit to accommodate handling us frazzled parents and our energetic kids. Expertly adaptable. I learned a lesson in courtesy from him by the way he would say«excuse me» every time he vacated our table. The day was $ 5 appetizer day, and we ordered the spinach dip and onion rings. I thought the spinach dip was excellent but a little small(Applebee’s has a much bigger portion), and the onion rings could have had more potent seasoning. Learning from last time at TL&C, I asked for a sample, and so all of us adults got a sample piece of their smoked steak. Delight to the tastebuds ! To my entrée: smoked brisket enchiladas were something special. Everything on that plate exceeded expectations. The smoked meat was highly memorable. The manager Jose came to our table several times and made good on the subamazing onion rings. I was impressed by the care and attention of everyone. We left with a good feeling.

Stopped by for lunch today. Establishment is clean and has an extensive menu. Service was only fair. Our waiter got our drink order wrong. He also should be trained to bring a new piece of cutlery when a dirty piece is left on a plate instead of taking the dirty piece of cutlery off of the dirty plate and setting it back down on the table. The ribs and fries were great. My friend’s steak was over seasoned rendering it inedible. Two out of three of us had great meals. There are better choices for steak houses in Houston.

Ribs were slightly above average and had the grilled asparagus. Good, on both. Side salad was very good. But-salad, how do you mess that up. Had a very good, friendly server. Manager came to table to make sure everything was ok. Give it a solid B all around.

Average, but was pleasantly surprised because of all the negative review. I didn’t think this was as bad as people say. We were looking for a steakhouse and our experience was not bad. We ordered their Christmas menu and had a variety of meats on a two person platter. We had quail, pork, and steak. The flavors was tasty and the meat cook to our liking. The waiter was attentive and friendly. It added to our romantic vacation.

Don’t let the name win you over, the food just isn’t that good. If your looking for steak locally, just stick with Outback. This place isn’t likely to survive it’s less than optimal location unless it picks up the ante a little.

Went today for a late lunch, the place was nearly empty at 1:45pm… We were nicely greeted and seated promptly… And we sat and sat and sat… A waiter finally came over, took our drink order and came back promptly with 2 ice tea’s at which point he said, «Hey can I come back for your order?» «No» So we gave our order, 2 Ranch House Soups and a crab cake app and a Crab tower app. The soup was so salty as to be nearly inedible and the crab cakes were just meah. I was told the crab/avocado tower was bad but he was hungry… The service did get 100% better and our waiter redeemed himself x10(Thanks) but all in all this place has lost its luster 2 apps, 2 soups, 2 ice teas = $ 45.00

DELICIOUS! We were only in Houston for a night but a friend from Dallas joined us and insisted we go here. I had the Ranch House Steak soup and the broth was so tasty. If I hadn’t been in a restaurant at the time, I’d drink the rest straight from the cup. I then had the smoked sirloin and I added bleu cheese crumbles. A-MAY-ZING. If they only had Texas Land & Cattle here in Ohio, I’d get that all the time… Service was prompt and I thought prices were fair. We’d certainly return if we ever found ourselves in Houston again!

My experience here was definitely subpar. I went with a group of 16 people and not one of us really liked our food. The service was okay given the size of our group but the major issue here was really the food. I ordered the Steak and Wedge salad and the presentation was awful. The«salad» part was just a quarter chunk of an iceberg lettuce thrown on the plate — not mixed with anything and very difficult to eat. The steak was both over-done and cold making this an unpleasant meal. My boyfriend got the brisket tacos that also had cold meat. Even the people who ordered regular steaks found their steaks to be sub-par and cold. I will not be returning here. Not worth the money when I could definitely find better steak elsewhere in Houston.
