Our experience in Texas Landing cattle was great! The service was amazing, the food was delicious our waiter was awesome! The interior of the restaurant was very clean. The patio area was very relaxing. They had a nice little pond with a fountain in the patio area. The price was very well worth the food. It was amazing. I’ve never had better steak.

Ugh. Had a work function here and did not like a single thing that I ordered. I will say that the area where we were set up was alright(right by the fireplace) but it did end up being pretty warm and it’s not private. No local beer at all so I went for the jalapeño margarita and it was AWFUL. It had chunks of jalapeño and a ton of seeds — I had to try really hard to power through because I didn’t want to be ‘that person’ at the work party sending everything back. I’ve had several drinks successfully flavored with jalapeño before so this was like a kick in the teeth by comparison. I wanted a steak and there was a special on the wagyu so I ordered that medium rare with green beans. The steak was overcooked and not tender, the bits of lobster meat it came with were limp and waterlogged, and the green beans were almost raw. My husband got a filet and I guess they were attempting ‘minimalist’ plating design so they put like 3 pieces of broccoli on the plate. If it weren’t for me leaving half my food up for grabs he would’ve left hungry. If you are forced to go here for some reason my advice would be to stick to the cheap stuff(a burger or something hard to screw up) and just pray that it’s better than the steak.

Server, Kelsey, was very personable. Food was good but came out on the cold side and the garlic mashed potatoes were very peppery. Manager, Brenda, came by to check on us and turned what would have been a mediocre experience into a great one.

I’ll never go to a Texas Land and Cattle again. Poor service, poor atmosphere, poor food. Definitely not worth the cost. It felt like I was dining in a Denny’s.

This is one of those times I wish Unilocal allowed a .5 rating, as my recent visit to this location was really a 2.5 star experience IMO. Compared with visits to other TL&C locations in the DFW area and in San Antonio, this was somewhat disappointing. Dining alone, I opted my usual seat at the bar, squarely in front of the TV. The bartender provided good service, although upon emptying my wine glass I had to get his attention for a refill. My dinner included a house salad with blue cheese dressing — nice & fresh and the dressing was nicely flavored. My entrée was the Cajun spiced ribeye steak, medium rare, with blue cheese crumbles. The steak was perfectly cooked and nicely flavored. I chose sautéed spinach for my side. It was, well, OK as it lacked any real flavor. I only ate about half of it. A couple of things caught my attention that raised my eyebrows a bit: A gentleman seated next to me at the bar placed a to-go order. One of his items was a shrimp cocktail. When the boxes came out, one was covered in cocktail sauce that had clearly spilled from the shrimp cocktail box. Did the server offer a new box or clean that one? No. He put it in the man’s bag, spilled sauce and all. Gross. The lady seated next to me asked for a taste of their sauvignon blanc wine. The lady behind the bar brought a taste of cabernet sauvignon. Mistake? No, she admitted she doesn’t know wine. Maybe she was just filling in, but I found the whole exchange rather interesting. As I stated earlier, this was not the typical TL&C experience I have come to expect from this chain. I left full but disappointed.

Now I know writing this on a Friday night is probably expected but when I say I had a horrendous experience tonight, I mean it. To start, we were greeted 8 minutes after being seated right behind the hostess stand by a server with dirty dishes on her tray. It took about another 8 minutes to receive 1 unsweetened tea and 3 waters. Our nachos appetizer was pretty good and it came out about 15 minutes after ordering. The only complaint is that they were kinda lazy with the cheese seeing that the only melted part was on top but everything else under was still shredded and room temperature. We place entrée orders and I ordered a cup of tortilla soup to start. 20 minutes go by, no food no soup. So I asked for my tortilla chicken soup, I was brought a Luke warm broken chipped cup of beef and potato soup. At about 50 minutes our entrees make it to the table. Mind you, none of us ordered steak or anything crazy. Apparently our ticket had somehow become lost in the kitchen but we were never told prior to reviewing our food. Mediocre food at best. What made this such a bad experience was the blonde manager Shelly. She offered a free dessert but wasn’t very concerned about our food being so late. So fast forward to leaving, we got a pathetic piece of pie and paid the full bill and still tipped 18%. Now what makes me so upset is that a employees family was sitting in the booth behind ours, Shelly the manager was sitting there just talking with the parents. On our way out, Shelly leans to the mom and says something and the mom is staring at my family as we walk out, then the server turns and the dad. Now never have I actually seen a manager bad mouth patrons while still in the building. We won’t be coming back thanks to this experience.

After going to the same steakhouse over and over again we thought we should try something else. We arrived a little early for dinner, so the place wasn’t full at all, but here and there were some people eating steaks, so this should be fine. First, the highchair which we used for my 2 y/o was sticky. My husband and I ordered the famous bbq steak and for our son we ordered the grilled chicken with apple sauce. We received some complimentary bread which was nice. The food came and… no apple sauce. The waitress told us they were out, but we could choose something else, like broccoli. Okay, not a great start, because with a(dry) grilled chicken, my son would love some apple sauce. Needless to say, he didn’t eat the chicken. But then. my husband took a bite of his funny looking«medium» steak and immediately asked me if mine tasted okay because his was a little odd. He inspected the meat and discovered a LOT of fat and LOTS of those strings you can not chew. Yikes! My steak was so-so. a bit the same as my husbands. We mainly ate the fries. We talked to our waitress and she offered us to choose a new meal for free, which was nice, but our son had enough so we didn’t have time to wait for another meal. They took the meal of the check, so that was nice too. Still, for a steakhouse. vveeerrrryyy bad steak and very disappointing that something as simple as apple sauce was not available. Also we had a long waiting time for our check, the waitress was never to be found after we asked for the check. In the end the manager helped us with our check. Sorry TLC, we’re not coming back. 3 stars for letting us not pay for one of the meals.

My co-workers and I had lunch here today. The service and food was HORRIBLE. We waited for an hour to get our food. The food was either cold, over cooked, under cooked, spoiled or you just didn’t get your food at all. We brought this to the manager’s attention. He was very apologetic and comped our lunch. However, I will not be going back there again.

Let me start by saying I ALWAYS tip 20−30%. Always. Even if the service is poor. Tonight, I felt like no tip was actually warranted. I feel badly about it, but a tip is an appreciation for good service, and I did not receive good service. The staff was friendly, but being friendly and apologetic doesn’t get me a beverage or my check or good food. The restaurant was not dead, but not overly busy. Upon arriving, I was seated immediately. That’s where it went downhill. Judging from the texts I sent my husband about when I arrived and when I said that I was getting ready to leave if they didn’t come take my drink order, it took about 9 minutes for someone to acknowledge my presence. I ordered a house margarita, a water, and my meal. The waitress asked if I wanted bread, to which I said please. It was 14 minutes from the time I ordered until I received my beverage(the margarita). If you’re doing the math, that’s now 23 minutes at the table without a beverage of any sort. I had to ask for my water again twice. The meal came. It wasn’t good at all, but I blame myself for trying something different. I don’t think there was a problem with the prep, it’s just a bad choice by the corporate office to offer this dish as-is. One thing I will say that the local restaurant can do to make it slightly more tolerable is to remove the tails of the shrimp. If you have shrimp buried in a dark red, heavy sauce, you don’t want to dig around to remove the shrimp and pull the tails off. The dish is messy enough as is. I also didn’t get the bread before the meal or even at the same time as the meal. I had to request it again. At that point, it was a necessity as it became the main course. I also had my credit card on the edge of the table for 15 – 20 minutes, which is the universal signal for«I want to leave.» After my card was picked up, it was easily 5 – 10 minutes until I got it back, which is really just a kick in the shin at that point. Again, I got several apologies, but that does nothing for me after the first one. So, that was my experience. Maybe it was an off night. I went here because it is conveniently located in an adjacent parking lot to a couple of hotels, including the one in which I’m staying. However, it was frustrating enough for me to say NEVERAGAIN, regardless of how convenient it seems.

Positively the worst restaurant meal of 2015… Can I give it ZERO stars? We arrived before 5 pm to an almost empty restaurant. Service was sooo slow throughout the entire meal. We weren’t given bread plates or plates under our salad. I had to put my bread on a napkin — which I had to specifically ask for. I had to put my discarded onions on the plate with the loaf of bread. Good job my meal mate had a sense of humor. All of the food had a smokey smell/taste…even the bread. I thought that there was something wrong with the bread and asked the server for a different loaf — which he brought. It was then that we realized that all of our food was smokey. How can you ruin a loaf of bread? The filet was nicely cooked. I will not go back… simply not good enough for a $ 30 plate of food.

Decent for the price and like the review said, the steak was cooked good, med like we asked. We also got to sit closer to the bar area where we could watch the basketball game from the table.

upon arriving there were some men working on the entrance door. they were drilling and on ladder. kind of weird and disruptive to do during lunch. our waitress was prompt but forgot to give us the sourdough bread which is what they are known for. had to request it and she apologized. the bread with butter is delicious so make sure they bring it out. ordered the spicy cheese dip. wasn’t that spicy I thought and wasn’t hot enough i thought. ordered the half chicken and the flavor of the outside of skin was yum. inside breast kind of dry and not much flavor. tea was watered down since they have it in a pitcher with ice.

We stopped in today while we waited for our car to be serviced just to hang out and have a little snack. It was pretty much crickets in there. We just popped a squat at the bar and Sarah was the ! She was super friendly! She made conversation with us, recommended some drinks, and kept up with our food and drink orders despite being what looked like the only wait staff there. Even when things picked up! We just ordered the Threesome which is basically just chips and all three of their dips; spinach dip, queso, and guacamole. The spinach dip was different, kinda tasted like it had maybe a hint of chili powder in it. It wasn’t really my thing, but it could be someone’s. The queso was on point. The guacamole was good, but was in dire need of seasoning, so I threw a little salt in there and was good to go. We also got the bread and butter, nothing really special, but we had great service, and what little food we had was good. I’d go back and give em a shot at sealing the deal with a juicy steak!

Oy. It pains me to say I don’t think we will be back any time soon. Two stars of this review are solely because my filet was cooked to a perfect medium. Perfect. And the appetizer of brisket stuffed jalapeños was very good as well. Let’s talk about the rest of the meal. The other appetizer we ordered was the threesome(there were four of us). Guacamole, queso and spinach dip. They were ok but the queso was barely warm. Had to ask the waiter numerous times for water refills(jalapeños have a kick!) The steaks came out and I had requested an extra side of bearnaise. I don’t know what they are using for the base but the sauce tastes like a bland white cream sauce. I couldn’t detect any terragon. The green beans and mashed potatoes were equally bland. Their cooks need to be introduced to salt. Seriously I never add salt to my food but this time I had to do something about it. The sides were awful. Last we ordered pecan pie. Traditionally this is the highlight of TLC’s meals but when ours came out there were portions of the pie that were scalding hot and others were just somewhat warm. Also a woman kept walking by our table as looking at us a lot. Finally figured out she was the manager. Would have been smart of her to ask how our food was. And maybe refill our drinks. It’s a shame because they cook a mean steak but if that’s all they’re doing right then it isn’t worth going back.

Wow. Just wow. Well I wish I could say something wonderful but I honestly can’t give anything positive. It started off with a waiter so quiet that we could barely hear him. I asked for sweet tea… Yes was the answer. No was the result. I got regular tea and a box of sweeteners to choose from. Next comes the meal. I ordered the Filet Oscar. It did come prepared medium rare as I ordered, but let me tell you about the baked potato and asparagus. That asparagus HAD to come out of a can, from the Vietnam era. My dinner mate took a bite and said«That’s &$@! inedible!» Yeah, agreed. The baked potato had to have been cooked early morning, because I needed to take the entire tub of bread butter and slather it over it to get it down my throat hole. Now, the manager came over and we spoke of the asparagus… She went to get us more. Oh sweet mother, Mary!!! She brought us a plate of the same decrepit asparagus!!! She even said it wasn’t the best they had! Just wow. We were offered a free dessert in passing, by the waiter, but he must have forgot. Maybe he can’t hear as well as he can’t enunciate. Nor did they offer any reduction of the bill. $ 100 for one of the worst meals ever.

Texas Land and Cattle is a pretty nice affordable steakhouse option for those who can’t fork over $ 50 a steak all the time. Being on a food binge lately I opted for a Caesar Salad with sirloin steak LOL. No issues at all with the Caesar salad; fresh veggies, nice creamy Caesar dressing and the sirloin steak was cooked a nice medium rare. I also had a chance to sample my friend’s smoked sirloin steak(one of Texas Land & Cattle’s signature dishes), and now I see why. It was soft, smokey, and again a nice medium rare. It was so much like a beef brisket in flavor! My 4th star is for the really nice service we received as we arrived fairly close to closing time(9:40pm and the restauarant closes at 11:00pm) but we called ahead and the manager said no problem. This positive trend continued as service was quick and also accommodating, again considering we were the last people in the place and staff were already cleaning the dining area while we were finishing eating. Clearly not your best choice for a Houston steakhouse but a really solid option.

Yeah. Don’t get why lunch time was so busy and why it’s so popular here. We were treated like cattle(pun intended), ushered in and conveyor belt customers. We had spinach and artichoke dip to start, which was spicy as hell. I love spicy food, but no way. Ordered the burger, added the Sautéed onions. Burger came cold, double onions cause they had red onions and a heaping pile of cold, half cooked«sautéed» onions, meat was like a hockey puck, and overall it was like a glorified McDonalds. And, to the self confessed«childless» server who told us not to get the mash potato to feed our baby(and brought us it anyway when my hubby asked for fries) because it was too salty and spicy to give to kids. Lesson number 1, don’t tell parents how to parent their kids. My 10 month old LOVES curries, salsas and other spicy food. The potatoes were garlicky as anything, none of us liked them, but don’t dare tell me what to feed my kid!

Will never come back. Friendly servers… Disgusting bathrooms!!! But the food was just not good. We ordered three sides and they all tasted like cheap microwave food. The steak was just okay. Not much flavor to it though. Won’t be wasting money here again.

I’ve visited TLC a few times 10 years ago… nothing recent until my coworker and I ventured here for a late lunch. The restaurant was damn near empty with the lunch crowd now ventured back into their sad cubicles. The lunch menu is not very extensive, it’s a decent number of dishes on there but nothing that stood out to me. A table of 2 guys on the side of us ordered a huge pile of nachos(they looked so damn good) but I settled on pick 2 lunch with the grilled chicken salad and cheesesteak. I was also craving seafood so I ordered some crab cakes after the waiter said it was full of crab. It was a good amount but not of the good lump crab, more bready than not and was accompanied by an aioli sauce. It was pretty good but not worth the price tag considering. The rest of my lunch was priced fair and reasonably tasting. I wasn’t disappointed in the meal nor the service. Yeah I know, I came here and didn’t get a steak! The Texas Cowgirl in me weeped then and now! I do recall their steaks being pretty good but the stand out dish back in the day was the single layer steak nachos… idk if they still serve them but it was worth every penny!

Service: AVERAGE Food: BELOWAVERAGE My friend decided to have his birthday dinner here. We were a group of 12& a baby. I was very hesitant about this place, as I checked Unilocal’s judgment. I was fifteen minutes early to the reservation, so upon my arrival I decided to grab a drink at the bar while I waited. The hostess prior to was nice, and was informative when I asked her if they offered anything special for their birthday guests(a brownie, which I’m assuming comes with a candle or something). After over half the party arrived, on time, we were sat. Our waitress, whose name I, unfortunately, do not have, greeted us. She promptly grabbed our drink orders. By them time the rest of the party arrived, we had decided to order some appetizers. Choosing The Threesome(chips with three dips; a spinach and cheese, a white queso, and an avocado type thing). The queso was lukewarm and the chips were stale and hard. Ordered the 9oz boneless ribeye, asked for it rare plus, which is between rare and medium rare. It took an hour for our entrees to come out. As my pictures show, my ribeye was NOT rare plus. If anything it was a little medium. On top of that, I would take a guess as to the amount of fat on my steak weighing at least 2oz. It was almost a third the size of the steak. It was tender but definitely lacking in flavor. Luckily it wasn’t cold, as many people have warned. The sautéed spinach was plain and boring, but thankfully not cold. Sprinkled a bit of salt on it and later found two cloves of roasted garlic in it, though those did not contribute to flavoring the spinach in any way. Fries were okay. THOSE were lukewarm. My girlfriend next to me ordered the same type of steak I did the exact way, and it turned out almost identical. Made me think the chef doesn’t know what rare plus means. Also, friend across me ordered the sirloin medium rare, the beautiful baby was rare and mooing(picture also posted). Confirmed: chef has no idea how to cook a steak. We politely asked for our checks, which surprisingly did not include gratuity. Those came in a timely manner, seeing as we were a large party. It was about 9:30 at this point(they close at 10). Upon leaving I realized they never offered the dessert to the birthday boy. They KNEW this dinner was to celebrate a birthday, yet they said nothing. I had completely forgot about it because everything was so disappointing. The girlfriend of the birthday boy had remembered, but didn’t care to get a dessert from this establishment for him. We ended up going to a karaōke bar to end the night on a better note. Our waitress was polite, but nothing special. She only checked on us when she was dropping things off. Never stopped by in between the appetizers and entrees. We had to flag down another server to get water refills. All in all, there is nothing about this restaurant that is worth mentioning. There are plenty of other steakhouses with a much higher quality slice of meat for the same price. Will not be back.
