At Tanglewilde Vet Clinic, we strive to provide the best medical and surgical care for our companion animals and quality service for their human owners. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine compliments conventional Western medicine, and this is what makes us unique. Whether your preference is for traditional Western or alternative Eastern methods, the Doctors of Tanglewilde Vet Clinic will be able to employ competent skills & proficient expertise that will be individualized for all of your furry children. As of 2015, we have also achieved accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for demonstrating the highest standards of excellence in Veterinary care.

History

Established in 1975.

Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic was originally established in the Westchase Area of Houston almost 40 years ago. The practice was recently sold in late December of 2011 to Dr. Jessica Killingsworth Parkerson, who plans to further promote and grow the reputation of Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic as one of Houston’s premier Animal Hospitals. Throughout Tanglewilde’s entire history, the ubiquitous mission to prioritize the patient’s welfare with passionate dedication has always been paramount, and this has never been more true than with its current owner, Dr. Parkerson.

As of December 2011, Jessica Killingsworth Parkerson, DVM is honored to be the new owner of Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic, and she is genuinely looking forward to meeting you to earn your trust & confidence. She graduated in 2000 with a BS in Biomedical Sciences before attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After performing her clinical rotations at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, she has spent almost her entire career practicing small animal medicine in the Houston area. In 2008, she received additional training from IVAS in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine & Acupuncture and is currently a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. To further her expertise in Eastern veterinary medicine, she is nearing completion of a Chinese Herbal Course through CIVT.

I’ve been taking my dogs to Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic for over 9 years. Their staff has earned my trust by consistently displaying the highest degree of care, compassion as professionalism. I had concerns when Dr. Stiles sold her practice to Dr. Parkerson. But, time has shown me that those concerns were unfounded. Dr. Parkerson has maintained the best from Dr. Stiles era and brought her own refreshing style into Tanglewilde.
Dr. Parkerson is everything you could hope for in a small animal veterinarian. She is attentive to detail but doesn’t get lost in the small things. Dr. Parkerson is well versed in both hard Western veterinary practices and well as Eastern medicine. She has no qualms about referring a pet to another practice for more specialized care when needed. Even when the news is the worst possible, she helps you makes the right decisions for both you and your beloved pet.
Tanglewilde Veterinary Clinic is a 40 minute drive from my house. I live in a neighborhood with easy access to great vets. But, the drive to Tanglewilde is well worth it. I know my babies will receive the best care available in Houston.

The staff is great. Very pleasant and showed interest in my animals during the visit and called us later to make sure everything was going well aftrr after the visit. My dog already does not like going the vet and they made him feel comfortable. Love them!

I’ve been taking my dogs to Dr. Parkerson for 6 or 7 years. I even followed her to this practice when she bought it maybe 3 years ago? I don’t remember when it was. She is great with my dogs and everyone at the practice is very helpful and caring. I feel like she is knowledgeable about a lot of different breeds. She knew a lot of specific things about my breed of dog (Shih-​Tzu) that I only knew because I’ve read a lot about the breed. I highly recommend her!

I have been taking my animals to the Tanglewilde Vet Clinic for about a year and cannot be any happier with our experience. We have two rescue animals, a German Shepherd and a cat, Tanglewilde was suggested to us by the organization we adopted our Shepherd from. Dr. Parkerson was absolutely amazing with our terrified of everything dog, the first time she met her, she sat right down on the floor and let Hannah get comfortable with her and then conducted the whole exam while sitting with our scaredy-​cat dog making both us and our new love incredibly comfortable.
Since our first meeting we have been in a handful of times and have continued to be elated with and impressed by our overall experience. They offer 20% off your visit three days out of the six that they are open and have generally reasonable prices for all services, also they have competitively low prices on meds.
I cannot stress enough my comfortability with, confidence in and fondness for this clinic. Highly highly suggest!

I was searching for a vet close to my home on a Saturday morning. The office of the vet I regularly use was closed on a Saturday. They close on Saturday a month and I was concerned about my cat’s sneezing and eye discharge. I called this vet’s office since they are close to my place and they have good ratings. Laura who answered the phone was really nice. The tech Joseph was very nice too. Because I was a last minute client, it took a while to see my cat but Dr. Parkerson seemed to care for the kitty I might switch my veterianiarian to this one due to distance and the prices seem to be the same. The staff seems caring too.

Dr. Parkerson is spectacular. She has unique solutions to difficult issues, she utilizes alternative treatments that have been very successful with my elderly animals, and she genuinely cares about her patients. My last vet actually told me there was nothing they could do for my cat and that she would die within a few days. I took her to Dr. Parkerson and here we are a year later.

We became new clients of Dr. Parkerson when we moved to Houston a few months ago. Our first visit was GREAT. She was very kind and loving to the dogs. She talked to me about my concerns with over-​vaccination and answered all my questions about vaccines and titers. I could not be more happy with the service of the front desk, vet, and vet tech. We came to this clinic on a recommendation that they were more open to RAW feeding. Since we feed our dogs Prey Model Raw this was very important that we find a vet both accepting of this choice and somewhat knowledgeable about it in case we need help. As soon as we told Dr. Parkerson we fed raw she immediately asked if we were doing the 80÷10÷10 ratio (which, of course we are!). :)

I called to schedule an appointment for my cat who has been sick for a while and I wanted a second opinion. Beatrice answered, placed me on hold for a little while, then finally came back on the line, but was not pleasant. She asked how she can help me and then I gave her a short summary of what I was dealing with and wanted to know if it was possible to come in today. I expressed my frustration with my current vet and was looking for any help for my cat. She said there was nothing available today. (Silence) That’s it! Do not offer any comfort, no suggestion to go in on another day, nothing to recommend or extend a call-​back from the vet to further assist me or anything. Just flat out — there’s nothing available today. I said Ok… I guess I’ll continue to look and she said ok good luck! Whaaaat? Wow.
Although, I cannot comment on the service of the vet because I never made it past the call, but, at this point, nor do I want to. How unfortunate.

My cats were clients of Dr. Parkerson when she was at a clinic in my neighborhood. When she bought Tanglewilde it broke my heart because she was such an amazing vet and a truly fun spirit to be around. Well, I have a broken heart no more! I have transferred my records over to her office and am making the drive. She is that good! I don’t want anyone else taking care of my cat or my dog. Doogie made his first trip to see her yesterday and was really happy with his new doctor! And he is in fine fiddle. Thanks Dr. Parkerson and all your staff!

Tanglewilde Veterinary is amazing. Dr. Parkerson’s approach to veterinary treatment includes a commitment to completely comprehensive care — almost a holistic approach. We first visited Tanglewilde when we felt our former vet should have been offering better treatment, in general. Dr. Parkerson essentially gave our cat a new lease on life. Her use of western and Chinese treatment was all the difference in the world. The level of care provided at Tanglewilde is unrivaled, definitely an incredible value.

I recently took my 2 year old black lab here for a cough that she had, and I can say that everyone at the clinic was incredibly friendly to me and my dog. Dr. Parkerson and the assistant Joseph were wonderful with her. I felt like they cared what was going on with my dog, and were very informative in answering my questions. I also think it is pretty cool that they have alternative forms of treatment for dogs, since there are apparently very few vets in the Houston area that perform Eastern medicine.

Dr. Parkerson has been our vet for about 5 years and we are SO excited join her in her new practice. Don’t get me wrong the other place was fine, but it was Dr. Parkerson who made the difference. I have to admit, I get more worked up than dog or the cat, and she answers my hundreds of questions with a demeanor that puts me at ease. One stand out comment I can make is that she doesn’t over dramatize situations or suggest a battery of tests before she has a clear direction to take with treatment — she is realistic, honest and genuine. Her ability to deal with the non-​furry as well as the furry family has made us loyal patients. Congrats Dr. Parkerson — Woof, Bark, Meow, Purr!

I have been going to Tanglewilde since Dr Stiles, I was recommended to her when I first moved to Houston. When I heard she was retiring, I was very disappointed as she was such a wonderful vet.
The new owner, Dr Parkerson, is nothing like her predecessor. She does not remember you, even after numerous visits. The office is more disorganized and I’ve found myself waiting over half an hour to be seen. When she does treat my dog, I see no love of animals in her or kind treatment of my dog. She is very young, and in my opinion is lacking in experience and maturity. My last straw was when I took my dog in with some questions about a health problem, and she laughed at me and treated me like I was an idiot for being concerned about my pet. There is no warmth or compassion in her which I find to be a requirement in a vet.
I am now on the hunt for a new vet for my dog. If I were you, I would look elsewhere.

I was never called and given my dog’s heartworm test results even though I had spoken to them multiple times for updates regarding my dog’s condition over the course of a week. I was impressed with Dr. Parkerson at first, but then I got passed off to another veterinarian who was either incompetent or was trying to bilk me for money. They kept my dog over the weekend when he didn’t need to be there. More than $ 500 later and they couldn’t tell me why he was sick. I took the dog to another vet and within one day, the new vet recommended I change the dog’s diet. A few days after that, my dog was fine.
The best thing they have going for them is the hot vet tech who is awesome with the animals.

Dr. Parkerson is one of the sweetest most knowledgeable vets in Houston. She has been my vet for many years now and has always gone above and beyond for me and my pup. My dog Buddy loves her and her staff and gets excited when we walk in the door. Our last visit Dr. Parkerson sat on the floor with Buddy so she could give him extra loving during the exam, what vet does that? she does! I would highly recommend taking your ‘animal family’ to see this great group of folks!

Dr Jessica Killingsworth Parkerson has been my vet now for about 6 yrs or so. I’m so happy and excited for her own venture with Tanglewilde Vet clinic. I probably have one the most difficult cats that any vet has had to deal with. She not only has social problems and anxiety she has the WORST skin problems. Dr Parkerson has always been there to help out with anything. She is great at being very thorough in a situation but also isn’t quick to medicate and overdue it. This is one of the things I appreciate most about her care. She explains in detail everything and anything that could be going on with your animal and makes sure you really grasp everything. She alo is how I came to meet my wonderful toy poodle Ms Bebe. The beebs is one of the best things that has ever walked into my life. I would and have recommended many people to her. This is a vet you can trust.

We had our puppy neutered here even though we live so far from Tanglewilde because a friend had recommended this place because they have decent doctors and the prices are good. The neutering itself was great.
My problem comes in with the nightmare of trying to pay for services here. They under-​charged my husband for the service while he was at the vet clinic and didn’t bother to tell him until he was already halfway home. They tell him it’s OK for him to pay the next time we come to the vet clinic (since we live so far).
A month later we get a letter in the mail charging us a late fee on top of our due amount for not paying the extra couple of dollars we owe. My husband calls the clinic back, explains what happened, and again reiterates that he’ll pay it back the next time he visits (we have another dog and are waiting for her to get old enough to be spayed). They agree and tell him they will remove the late charge and make a note on the account that we’ll pay the next time we come in.
A second month later, the same thing happens — we get another letter, call them to explain, and again they say they’ll make a note and that it is OK to pay the next time we come in.
After another month or so, we get ANOTHER letter in the mail indicating that they are «highly disturbed» at our behavior in not paying back the money we owe, and they threaten to send us to a collection agency.
By this time we are extremely frustrated. They had clearly told us MULTIPLE times it was OK for us to pay the few dollars we owe when we return the next time with our second dog. My husband calls them AGAIN, and they say they need to talk to someone higher up and will call him back. They don’t call him back, so he calls before they close and just pays over the phone.
Needless to say, we will NOT be going back to them for future services like we’d originally planned.
