The dog park is trash. Not full of trash just really bad. Mostly dirt. Grass is horrible. Two kiddie pools that I guess are suppose to be lagoons. I went to one on the SW side that was much better taken care of than this. Plus this is the small dog one. The big dog section looked just as bad. The rest of park seemed cool but since I only came for the dog park, that’s all that matters.

I moved here back in March. I hadn’t fully used this park until recently. And wow. I love it. There’s a dirt jogging trial that’s about 1 mile long, which is perfect for a quick 3 miler. There’s a frisbee golf course I still want to try. A dog park, if I ever get a dog. And a pool and playground for the kiddos. And then there’s my favorite: The White Oak Bayou Trail. TC jester is my connection to that trail, and I love it. It’s an almost unbroken trail that will take you all the way to Beltway 8 on the South side of Houston. Through downtown, the zoo, buffalo bayou park, the Heights, by UH. The list goes on. This will probably be my new exercise spot. Hope to see you there =].

I’m a frequent visitor of this park. I enjoy all the trees which can become my friend by blocking the sun if I decide to go here during the heat of the day. The walking trail directly in TC Jester Park is half gravel and half paved. If you only follow the loop that is in the park, I believe that is between 2 and 2.5 miles. A couple weeks ago I was here late one night about 8pm ish and was finished by 9:15 ish. I was disappointed about the lack of lighting that existed in the park as well as the parking lot. It was not because they didn’t have light poles in place because they do. However, maybe half of them were actually functioning properly. When I went back a week later there was definitely better lighting but some were still not on. I have not had a problem with mosquitoes here. The walking trail extends far as well as a bike trail that goes from Antione and West Little York to the White Oak Bayou. I previously walked with my mom in the bike trail area that extends behind Desoto and nope we did not feel safe. There are many apartments that are abandoned and boarded up with windows that are smashed near that part of the trail. When we were walking that area of the bike trail we saw a couple men lingering around the abandoned apartments, one even coming out of one of the apartments. Talk about scary. So that we did not have to go back thru that part of the trail we walked until we reached the end of the trail and entered West Little York and walked on the side walk down Antione to make it back to our starting point. There is a dog park that is fenced in put I do not have a dog so I have never utilized it. But I see many people that do. There are intramural sports that occur here. You can also see people playing soccer on the fields here was well. There is a playground and a workout area in the front of the park near the restrooms. The park restrooms here are disgusting or at least a couple months ago they were. I don’t think I can handle checking to see if they improved from my last experience. Also, I’m not speaking for the restrooms that are on the pool side but the park side only. I don’t know who is responsible for cleaning or maintaining them but there is a huge disconnect somewhere. You can smell urine from 50 feet away. But one day I had use the restroom and attempted to use it, yes attempted, because I got in my car and left instead. There was toilet paper all over the floor, some wet some dry. There was urine on the floor and not one clean toilet in there. Some had feces just on the toilet. The stalls were just filthy. The pool here is definitely one of the better public pools I have come across. It is always clean. I can tell they take pride in keeping it clean. The parking here is not very good at peak times. You just may have to park on the street because the lot does not offer enough spaces at that time. Peak time being 5pm-7:30pm. Overall not a bad park.

Two separate areas of the dog park: big dogs and under 25 pounds. Usually not too many big dogs in the big dog area, but super spacious, lots of shade, water area, and benches. Locals are pretty friendly, and gives dogs a nice size space to run off their energy.

This wealth of a park has more to offer than trees, a 21 hole disc golf course and a winding bike trail along White Oak Bayou. It offers bliss during springtime when the lush fields of green bloom the prettiest buds in the area. The solace it provides the mind as one jogs the trail or rides along the bayou is peaceful. Human people are welcome just as much as dogs and other animals as long as their poop is scooped. I’ve done it all at TC Jester Park. As a kid, my old man would take my brothers and me to swim here on the hottest days of the year. When one of my brothers moved in the Heights we’d run and ride bikes around here. Nowadays i’ve picked up disc golf and this is an adventurous course to say the least. Even sometimes i’ve come to train here and have ran up the slope beneath the bridge. This hill has eyes, it’ll see you burnout and plea for mercy when your legs, buns and mind has been dragged to its limit. Although i live on the opposite end of Hwy 290, as much as i can, i frequent the beauty of TC Jester Park.
