We’ve been to other Oncologists that gave up or didn’t see a solution. We were referred to Dr. Susaneck and has given us a miracle to STILL have our cat with us. 19 months and still going strong with cancer tumors on Beau’s liver, but Dr. Susaneck’s assistance is undying.

My extremely bad experience with another veterinarian recently reminded me of my very good experience with Dr. Susaneck from some years ago. Dr. Susaneck works in veterinary oncology, and he treated my golden retriever Murphy for cancer. The treatment didn’t work. Unfortunately, Murphy had a type of cancer that just didn’t respond to the chemo. Even though the ultimate result wasn’t good, Dr. Susaneck gave my boy what he needed to have a good quality of life up until the end. He is compassionate and kind. Even after we knew there was nothing more to be done, Dr. Susaneck made himself available to give advice and kept a steady supply of pain medication easily available. Literally, all I had to do was pick up the phone and ask, and he had a prescription ready an hour or so later. He provided a good experience in a terrible situation. I think that’s the best you can ask from a veterinary specialist.

Dr. Susaneck is wonderful. He can really understand complex cases and has been able to extend the life of our cat with a good quality of life. We think he is great!

Dr. Susanek’s office was wonderful when my sighthound was dying. We didn’t know what was wrong, and she was much too young to be as sick as she was. A vet in Austin said that she probably had a tumor on her brainstem, but thousands of dollars worth of tests wouldn’t be able to tell us anything except whether that was true, and even more thousands of dollars of treatment would make improvement unlikely and sacrifice her quality of life. Her breeder recommended Dr. Susanek, because he is a cancer specialist, so I took her to him, and I was so impressed by their compassion and their caring for my girl and their honest assessments of our options, which actually saved me a lot of money. She only lived another week or so, before I had to have her put to sleep in an emergency visit to another vet over a holiday weekend, but I think she had another week of good, quality life, thanks to Dr. Susanek, and I am grateful for that. I would take any dog to Dr. Susanek and his staff, especially for serious illnesses, such as cancer. They are fair and honest and really want to do what is best for you and for your pet. After my girl passed away, they even made a donation in her name for veterinary medical research and sent me a card. It’s not the prettiest or newest office or in the best part of town, but I think it is an exceptionally good facility for quality, specialty care.
