The service was amazing, the food was wonderful, the drinks even better, and overall I had an amazing experience!!! I sat at the bar and the manager, Leonora was wonderful, and the entire bar staff was perfect! Highly recommend coming, and I will definitely be bringing my family next time!!!

My hubby and I were looking for good food and cocktails with an amazing Wine list– and we landed in the perfect restaurant! Everything was perfect! We went to bar, and the bartender recommended the perfect cocktails to start with I gave us time to look over the menu and to pick out appetizer and look over the wine list. We picked out a bottle of champagne and ordered a few appetizers. The quantity and quality of the food was perfect and paired perfectly with our cocktails and our bubbly. The service was spot-on and the interior is warm and inviting. The State Fare is such a fun place and we totally recommend it. I would vote more than 5 Stars if I could. This place is a gem in the west side — A must-try for everyone!

Soul food with no soul! So I need to do possibly two things, stop reading the Houston papers as they called this place a soul food place and the other is to check the menu before sitting down and even be wary of places that are in fancy locales but can’t even change their signs from previous tenants. The sangria was awful with a single slice of lemon and one strawberry with cheap wine mixed with seltzer. The gumbo should have been arrested for not using one single ingredient of the holy trinity and andoille sausage that had no bite or flavor and chicken that looked suspiciously from a can. I should have known better when their hamburger was $ 17 and that they have more an eye on profit than ingredients and taste. And 8 large screen TVs! Maybe some half naked servers could help their profit margin and give Hooters a run for their money!

Came out to try this new place(The old Pour Society) and it is ONPOINT! The food is amazing! We had the BBQ chips with the dill pickle dip! OMG! The shrimp and crab cocktail is amazing. I’m not big on catfish, but the appetizer portions were so big we had to share an entrée and the catfish with the perfectly cooked French fries and the jalapeño hush puppies were very good… I 100% recommend trying this place. The service was good, not too attentive but attentive enough. The hand crafted drinks are excellent, I had the«Garden Variety» which is a Thai chili infused vodka martini of some sort, very refreshing, and also had the State Fare Margarita… They’re not selfish on the pour! TRYIT!

Went after lunch, so the place was pretty empty, which is fine. Great service(place WAS empty), very friendly. Burgers and fries were okay, nothing amazing, just normal. Had a gimmicky margarita. It was good, had a spicy curaçao of some sort. Good, but gimmicky. Maybe I’ll try dinner???

My review for State Fare is very similar to my review of its predecessor Pour Society: food is generally good, but there are so many other good places that make food like it in Houston. As entrees, we had the burger and the pork chop. The burger was classic, juicy goodness, and the pork chop was huge and very good. The stand-outs were surprisingly the fresh-squeezed lemonade and the bacon and bean dip. Overall, food was good. State Fare appears to be a re-branding of Pour Society, which used to be in that location. Unilocal says that State Fair opened three weeks ago, but when we asked our server when they opened, she said, «last fall,» but then that they were bought by a new owner a few months ago and changed the name three weeks ago. They’re still working out some of the kinks – for example, they brought the wrong glass of wine, and the hostess made a big deal about how they were too busy and couldn’t seat us yet, but then seated us in just a couple of minutes, totally on time for our reservation. Nothing too bad, and I’m sure they’ll work it out soon.

Food is great but prices are high. It should be labeled a $$$ Too expensive $ 38 for snapper $ 27 for fried shrimp.

I’m not one to give reviews, but me and my friend went to State Fare Saturday night and is was great! The food, drinks, and service were awesome. I had the catfish plate and it was delicious and huge; the fresh tarter sauce OMG yummy! Coleman was our server and he was very attentive and social; all around great. Leonora Varvoutis(I hope I didn’t slaughter her name) was the best. She made sure to visit everyone and was very personable; great personality. I will definitely go back to State Fare. It is one of the better restaurants I’ve been to lately.

Wanted to go somewhere relaxing and have a drink & food… this place did not disappoint. The interior was inviting and this place has an overall relaxing feel. They had a very good selection of beers and wine. Started with chips and queso/salsa. I had the chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken tasted amazing and all the toppings were really fresh. It is a little on the pricey side but it is worth visiting if you just want to relax, drink, and have a great meal!

Only had drinks and appetizer, but was very enjoyable. My date enjoyed the Blueberry Ginger Mule — not too sweet either. Loved the shrimp cocktail which is really more like shrimp ceviche. Also has an excellent choice of draft beers. Good spot for a date or getting casual drinks.

Much improved over the old Pour Society! Service was prompt and polite, food was good, beer selection was great, also had a great cocktail(the Margarita with habanero, so good). One of the managers, Leanora(sorry if I spelled that wrong), came by and asked how we were doing on a regular basis. We did have a complaint that the bread crumbs on our Mac and cheese were burnt and she got us a new plate right away. So excited for this place, if you were disappointed in pour society like I was, you will NOT be let down with the new management.
