We run a Ashtanga Yoga Mysore program. Ashtanga Yoga is a defined sequence of postures divided into 6 series. One begins Ashtanga by creating a self practice referred to as Mysore, starting with Primary Series. The first building blocks of the practice are the breath (ujjayi pranayama) coordinated with drishti (gaze /​focus point) and bhandhas (energetic locks).

History

Established in 2014.

I began practicing yoga in 2001 here in Houston, Texas. Once I found Ashtanga Yoga, I knew it was my home and I became a dedicated Ashtangi. I began my daily practice at Tejas Yoga with Yannis Avramidis. I quickly started adapting the practice as a lifestyle and wanted to know everything I could about it. After developing my practice, I taught morning Mysore and led classes at Tejas Yoga.

In 2007, I moved to Los Angeles primarily to be a part of a thriving Ashtanga community and practiced with authorized teachers Jodi Blumstein, James Butkevich, and Noah Wiliams.

Throughout the years I have traveled to many cities and practiced at many Shalas with many inspirational teachers. I currently travel to practice at Ashtanga Yoga New York with Eddie Stern in New York City. I have also attended R. Sharath Jois’s tours in New York, The Ashtanga Yoga Confluence in San Diego, David Swenson workshops, Kino MacGregor workshops, a Manju Jois workshop.
