History

Established in 2004.

In 2003 a group of community leaders decided to take action to help reduce healthcare disparities by creating a neighborhood-​based health center. With the financial support of neighborhood churches and private donations the clinic opened its doors in May 2004 offering services three days a week. In 2005 the community clinic was designated a Federally Qualified Health Center, and in 2009 SBCHC added a satellite location.

Meet the Manager

Marlen T.

Manager

Marlen T. joined the health center in March of 2006. She received her BBA from the University of Houston in Finance & Marketing and obtained her MBA from Our Lady of the Lake University. Ms. Trujillo oversees the overall operations of the health center and maintains compliance with grant deliverables. She is responsible for the supervision and administration of all staff and functions, as well as managing personnel systems and monitoring activities to achieve the goals as outlined in the health and business plans. Ms. Trujillo anticipates, identifies and resolves problems; allocates resources, interacts with the community, providers and partners; and, responds to opportunities and planning for future growth.
