South Loop Hyundai

I cannot speak for the sales department of this dealership, but the service department is dishonest and manipulative. Brought my Tucson here for the 30,000 mile «factory required» service, which includes a number of fluid checks, filter replacements, oil change, etc. All listed on the website. When I checked my car in the service rep told me it would cost $ 270. He also recommended I do a fuel system service which would entail taking the fuel injection system apart to «clean it out properly». $ 181. Since it’s recommended every 15,000 miles I agreed. When I picked up my car the total was $ 579 (includes tax). $ 181 for what turned out to be pouring an $ 8 bottle of fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank and running it for a bit, not taking anything apart as described, $ 270 for the factory required service, then $ 110 for all of the fluids they topped off, the oil change, and the filters they replaced that was advertised as part of the service. It turns out the $ 270 base charge is just the price to look at my vehicle; it does not include any of the services listed online. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend.

Leased 2017 Elantra which is my second vehicle from South Loop Hyundai. As always they did a great job and worked with me on a fair deal. The showroom is clean and welcoming. All of the staff is customer service oriented and friendly. My sales consultant was Josh Martinez. He’s is young, but knowledgeable and driven. Highly recommend his services. I also worked with Stephen in the finance dept and he was very friendly and accommodating. I take my 2015 Sonata for service there as well and I’m always happy with the service. Armando Pena was my last advisor and he did a great job.

Went to get minor service. All good. A week later had to go back because the car had died on me. Replaced the battery. No big deal. But after opening the hood I saw certain small parts, covers, seals, etc. MISSING. Just flat out gone. And I don’t drive with the hood open, but it was filthy underneath too.
Took the car back and told the service tech, Kerry, who then took me to Aubrey Cook, the service manager. Don’t know what Aubrey said or did but he must have dug in real well. Less than an hour later, all missing parts were replaced and the motor was clean as new. No charge.
Normally, I deal with Steve Boyer (awesome guy) but this time, Aubrey got a positive vote of service from me.

Took my car in because it was having issues. Seemed electrical, like the screen would go on and off and I would get a lot of warning signs. First of all, the guy with the glasses at the service department was extremely weird and awkward. He didn’t at all for one second seemed like he cared about my problem. They told me it would be around $ 1700. I told my boyfriend about it and he came over and looked at it. In 2 seconds he said it was because one of the battery terminals was probably loose. He got a tool and tightened it. Took him 5 seconds. Wah-​lah! Issue resolved. Loose terminal. Now why couldn’t they figure this simple thing out? Maybe because they wanted my money? That seems about right.

I purchased my car around mid May and I continually have to get temporary tags because they still have not received my plates for some reason. I left a message with my dealer Jose and he never returned my call. Also, I contacted someone via email and still nothing. In addition to that, they put the clear protectors on poorly where dirt would easily build up in the creases so I removed it and it now it left sticky residue that will just not wash off. After you purchase your car from them they are just done with you and do not care. Will not refer anyone to them. I tried calling the number given below by the manager and it only continues to ring with no voicemail. So much for fixing an issue. Oh and they just now received my plates months late. On top of that I have free maintenance but can never get an appointment appropriate for my schedule. Will never do business again

I went online to Autotrader to estimate my trucks value. Autotrader gave a quote (supposedly set) and sent me to this dealership. I made the mistake of letting them verify my payoff. lol and behold their revised offer was 12% less than the quote and s few hundred above the payoff. The guy was nice but I question the ethics particularly when I went to Carmax and received the Autotrader quote (without them seeing the quote).

Would give zero if possible.
They scratched paint while doing work on the car. Did not replace a part properly.
Trying to get a part replaced under warranty – took car in to them. Was told they would get back to me in 48 hours. Three weeks later no word from them despite 4 messages being left.

I called the number he provided – shown above. After ringing 20 times there was a busy signal. No answer and no opportunity to leave a message. Consistently poor service.

I had a great experience thanks to Paul. He was very knowledgable and answered all my questions and concerns.

Well-​managed and customer oriented service. Mr Cook and Armando took care of my car well.

Vehicle was not properly prepared for delivery by the dealership: (1) I was told the car would be detailed, yet the same oily stain remained on the front passenger seat and center console even after the car was brought back to the service dept to be prepped for delivery when I had pointed out the chair stain to Sales and was told the detailing would take care of it (2) I was told the car would be delivered with a full tank of gas, yet it was still half empty (not half full!) even after it was prepped for delivery (3) Worst of all, the tire pressure remained at 51 PSM when Hyundai prescribes 33 PSM. To fix the tire pressure, I was told repeated by Sales incorrectly that it was a Tire Pressure Monitoring System failure when I had checked the tire pressure myself and confirmed the 51 PSM reading, and thus I was asked by Sales to bring the car back in yet again, when I had done so once already so the car would be prepped for final delivery. Sales apologized for the inconvenience, as I live 40 miles away from the dealership, and promised to compensate for the extra annoyance of having to return once more, not to mention the risk they posed to my family and me by allowing the customer to drive off the lot with tires way over inflated. I sent an email to Sales to see what they’d do to rectify this wrong. To this day, I’ve gotten no response.

Look let’s be honest, I only go here because it’s the closest Hyundai dealer to my home otherwise I would not go to this dealer for service at all. They are slow and their customer service needs improving. The first time I had an appointment and even with that, it took them about 3 hours before they looked at my car and gave me a diagnosis. This latest time, I took my car in without an appointment because it wouldn’t start the night before so I needed to get it looked at. Armando said he would not be able to look at it until three days later. I asked him if there was any way he could get it looked at today or even Monday just so I could know whether or not it needed work but he said no and did not even try to keep my business.
I get that the service department may be busy with scheduled appointments but not all of us can schedule when our car decides to go kaput and leave us stranded in Houston. Maybe if you had more service staff (both times I went the department looked understaffed) or remembered that sometimes your customers are faced with unexpected car troubles, you could meet the customer’s needs better.

If possible, I would give them a lower rate.
Last week I went to check the prices of the hyundai accent and they gave me a quote for 14 K. So I called today the dealer Benjamen Williams (who told me he was on vacation; although I saw him at the dealership this same afternoon) and got back today and the guy with the desk in front of the entrance told me that such a price was at 17K thanks to many hidden fees and an increased manufacturer suggested price from 17K to 21K. When I asked for the reason, they said I could not believe whatever they had written online. Furthermore, when attempting to lease the car, the guy ask for 5K down plus 300/​month. Is it with everyone or he just thought that by the fact of being foreign I was supposed to be an Idiot? Conclusions: 1) They lied online and in-​person both with stupid things and more importantly, with quotes. 2) They made me waist 2h 10 min until the dealership was closing (not even looking at any car, just waiting for the dealer to «talk to the manager»). 3) Not reliable at all, AVOID THIS PLACE

After working directly with a salesman when just looking for a new vehicle, I came back based on research I had done on car prices. The prices shown online were not the correct price, these did not include the packages you have to purchase in order to get the dealer incentives. After going back and forth on price and finally coming to an agreement, I then had to take a rental car due to the fact of finding that they did not have the exact car in stock, when I had previously talked to the salesman earlier that day, telling him what exactly what I was looking for. I come back the day they say the car is ready, let the salesman I have been working directly with that I am coming in and when, and still sat for 3 hrs waiting for a finance manager to finalize the paperwork. 1) the salesman should have looked to see if the car was in stock, found that it wasn’t and found the nearest one before I came in. 2) when I let them know I am coming in and when, I should not have to wait 3 hrs to sign papers.
On a good note, once I did get to sign papers, the finance manager was very quick and friendly.

We had the best car buying experience with Jose Reyes at this dealership. He was very customer service oriented and was determined to make our car buying experience a great one. We came in to purchase a car for our 16 year old daughter. From the start, Jose was genuine, sincere, and is a man of his word — must be from his training & discipline with the Marine Corps. My wife and I both own luxury cars and are accustomed to what comes with dealing with higher end dealerships. For someone young in age, Jose was unwavering in his commitment to providing excellent customer service. Not only was he a professional, he is also a very like-​able guy with very diverse interests. One of which is his commitment to giving back to his community and those less fortunate through his charitable activities.
Jose went as far as to give us a brand new 2016 car to drive home for the weekend because the radio of the 2015 car we purchased needed a software update. And instead of us having to return the car to the dealership, Jose drove our daughter’s new car to us in Katy to deliver it to her at a time that was convenient for us and to take the loaner back. Now THAT’s Service!
Jose Reyes is definitely an asset to this team. Speaking of team, I want to also mention Nathalia in the Finance department along with the Director of Finance. Both were very pleasant to work with and we were actually laughing and joking the whole time we were signing the paper work which, by the way didn’t drag on and on. It was quick, efficient, friendly, and best of all painless.
If you are looking to buy at this dealership, make sure to ask for Jose Reyes! He is awesome! And you certainly won’t go wrong in dealing with this man of honor who has proudly served his country. Thank you Mr. Reyes. You Sir are a pleasure to do business with.

My wife just returned her 2012 Elantra due to the end of lease term and leased a brand new 2015 Sonata! The service provided by the dealership was exceptional. Benjimen (our sales associate) was extremely kind and helpful. We definitely recommend you to ask for him. Overall, it was a great experience.

My first communication with Ralf was brief and to the point (which I liked). There was no pressure even when I told him that I would be waiting a bit before purchasing a vehicle. Once it was time for me to view and test drive, Ralph Mendoza was extremely helpful in finding the car that I wanted and had a very specific answer to all of my questions. Granted I was there for a bit of time (4.5 hours), but that it to be expected when purchasing a car.
Even though Ralph (and his teammate who’s name slips my mind… sorry) knew the deal was done, they waited till the very end and made sure that everything went well and I was happy. I will definitely point anyone who is looking for a car in his direction at South Loop Hyundai.

When it came time to purchase my first car, I looked high and low. Paul Davalos and South Loop Hyundai made my first car buying experience absolutely amazing. He was extremely knowledgable, wasn’t pushy, and helped me find what I want rather than trying to tell me what I should purchase. When I didn’t find exactly what I wanted at this dealership, I was able to tell them what I was looking for and where it was. Two days later it was at the dealership waiting on me with recertification. Even the financing part of the process was pleasant, Victor was super helpful. I am so happy with my purchase and pleased with the outstanding customer care at South Loop Hyundai.

I truly understand why people hate going to dealerships so much now. I had one of the worst possible experiences with this dealership. My service guy was Gregg, and as you can see from the last post, he does nothing to help you out. I also spoke with the Service Manager, Aubrey, and that guy is a clown too. I was quoted ridiculous prices so I called around and their prices were double the price of the second closest one. I absolutely hate this location and would never recommend someone to go there unless I truly hated that person with a passion. I will continue to bring my business over to Brazelton Auto where I feel respected as a customer and treated the right way. See ya never South Loop.

This is the worst experience that I have had with a dealership. I’ve had a Hyundai for 4 years now and received horrible service when I went in. The finance man wasn’t friendly and made it very clear that I was a waste of his time, the car wasn’t ready by the time they said it would be, they didn’t do the correct maintenance on the car before I got it, when I took my car in for a maintenance check after I got it they left it parked out front for an entire day without actually checking it (when I got there to pick it up I was the only one that noticed it was still in the same spot apparently) and it’s been four months and I still haven’t received my actual license plates. Poor communication, poor organization and poor customer service.

My Elantra was one of the models that was part of the recent Hyundai recall due to a factory defect. Unfortunately my car succumbed to the defect, and I was left with NO brake lights. Yikes. And of course, ALL of the dealerships were swamped, including the original dealership that sold me my car. They were all telling me I’d have to wait a week. Ugh! So I called the service department here at SLH, and they were able to fit me in much sooner. Of course, the day of my appointment, Murphy’s Law kicked in and I ended up stuck, unable to get to the dealership until much later. The guy in the service department was able to switch me with another customer who had arrived super early!
When I got there, I went to the sales trailer by accident. Whoops. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. I stood there for a couple of minutes before ANYONE came out to greet me or help me. Not a good impression, especially if I’d been a customer looking to buy. This is the second Hyundai dealership where that has happened – not a good trend. The sales guy who finally came out was helpful enough – he let me know that I had the wrong trailer and needed to go to the service trailer around back, but didn’t really strike me as friendly. I could be wrong – he could’ve been having an off day, or that could’ve been a wrong impression, but there it is.
The service department was a different story. Everyone was really friendly and helpful – I was greeted at the door by the receptionist, and the guy that I’d talked to on the phone greeted me and got my car taken care of. I REALLY wish I could remember his name, because I’d consider buying from this dealership ONLY because of him. As it is, I’ll definitely continue to get my car serviced here since he’s in the service department.
I really want to give this dealership a lower rating, so I have to resort to averages. Five stars for stellar customer service from the service department, three stars for a lackluster sales department. So they get a four from me.
