Best bar/grill/ice house/place to watch the game in Houston, HANDSDOWN! Great staff, awesome drink & food specials and fantastic atmosphere. And the owner is alright too

Came for their Tuesday steak night! They have two options: a 12 oz ribeye with two sides for $ 10, or a 16 oz ribeye with two sides for $ 13. The 16 oz sounds like a good deal, but you end up spending more than $ 13 since you have to order two drinks per person wanting the deal to get it(if two people both get the 16 oz, that’s 4 drinks). I’ll stick to the 12 oz deal next time, but overall their steak was delicious(didn’t need any A1 whatsoever)! They got my medium rare perfect. It was definitely a lot of food. The service is pretty good. The place itself though seems to be outdoor seating only, so expect it to get hot unless they pulled down the large walls/doors so the inside is separated from the outside. That was the only part I didn’t like cuz I was kind of sweating through my meal. Other than that it’s a great place to watch the game with friends. I think if you ride a bicycle in they give you 20 or 30% off. I guess I need to go find a bike. Oh and the mango margarita is bomb :) try it.

So I thought it was always a good dea whenl Saint Dane’s have their Steak Night Mondays and $ 1 Taco Tuesday. my kind of deal. No wonder they’re cheap, May 9, 2016, Houston Chronicle featured them in Houston Restaurant Violations for repeat offenders( ). Report published April 7, 2016: Demerits: 19, Inspection highlights: Ground beef, steak, and cooked chicken not safe for human consumption; condemned approximately 180 lbs. of meat found to be at an improper temperature. No wonder the steaks and tacos are cheap, it’s not safe for human consumption. I guess I’ll be looking for another place for steak night and hopefully their ice is safe for human consumption too.

This bar was great because it has an open mic area. I heard they have cheap tacos, but I didn’t get a chance to give them a try. We took shots of tequila and the whole crowd was singing to the music. My music request didn’t go through, but I still had fun on a Tuesday night with my group! One thing that threw me off was when I requested to have a hip-hop song. The DJ told me we are not playing that kind of music tonight. I said what? That done ruined my night, but I wasn’t going to let that get in the way because I wanted to have fun with my group. I guess it was just my luck or this DJ had a problem with my type of music.

We were there for Taco Tuesday, and I was excited to try this place for the first time. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. It took us an hour to get our drinks and our waitress refused to take our order for food because she had orders to fill for two other tables. We eventually got to order some food half an hour later. I can understand the slow service, but I rather avoid bad service. I will not return if I can help it.

Just came from enjoying steak night with my brother and sis. The steak was great! Fried okra mashed potatoes fries all, scrumptious!(Yes we shared) .I would give St Danes 5 stars but our waitress messed that chance up. After I had to go find her for the tab upon receiving the signed receipt(a single piece of paper) she then stands in front of us reads it gives us a dumb look sticks the receipt in her bra and leaves. The tip$ was reasonable for her service but her departing gesture was enough for me to want to take it back.

It’s a small relaxed bar with lots of daily specials! We went for happy hour which included discounted Tap beer and well drinks. My friend and I got frozen margaritas, they were $ 6 a piece. Good for a quick drink. It was Thursday when we went and the food special was 25 cent wings! So good place if you’re into that!

Great for taco Tuesday but there’s a catch, you have to have a two drink minimum. Definitely not a problem since their tacos were great. A little small. The beef and barbacoa are delicious. One slight issue– the waitress took forever serving us. She gave us a menu as soon as we walked in but we didn’t see her again for a good 20 minutes to take our orders. She also took awhile to come back and make sure we were doing okay.

Great crawfish, friendly staff, and dog friendly! We brought our puppy here and the staff was so nice. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. They have a good selection of local craft beers from all the Houston breweries. Saturdays they have fresh crawfish for only $ 6.99 a pound. Bring your dog, have a beer, and eat some crawfish!

Good service… okay food, in a pinch. If it wasn’t for the good service, two stars only. The high tops inside are in need of leveling and the half the chairs are in need of an upholster. The shots list is entertaining; good spot for 20-somethings. Parking VERY limited on property, but plenty on surrounding streets. They give you 20% of if you dare ride your bicycle.

So one of my favorite things is Taco Tuesday. I’ve come here a lot, mainly for that reason: Taco Tuesday night with $ 1 tacos. Really cool bar with good drink specials until 7. They have different themes/activities/performances scheduled for each night. Check out their website beforehand if you want to know what’s going on that night in regards to performances or if you want to know the deals of the night. Karaōke here on Tuesday nights is really fun. The only negative about this place is the size. The inside seating area is small and gets really tight when it gets busy. Like hard to get through the building tight. They have plenty of outside seating which is always nice and there’s a distant view of the skyline from this restaurant. Sweet bonus. PARKING: They have a few parking spots in the front but you’ll likely find parking in their dirt parking lot diagonally across from the building. There’s also plenty of street parking.

Went here for Taco Tuesday once. The food was good. But theres a catch to the whole, «$ 1 Taco». You have to buy two shots of something or two sodas for your tacos to be ONE dollar. By the time you purchased your drinks/shots, you’re already at $ 8 and not including tacos. I could have defiently gone somewhere else for that, but I have some other concerns for the second time we went. The location is pretty nice but there is no where to park. You have to park on the street and hope that your car doesn’t get hit. OORRRRRRR, you can just rely on the homeless people in the street to watch your car. The space inside the building itself was crowded. If you sit outside, you’re good to go, but what happens if it rains? You sit on bar stools hopping that the person that is walking past you, does not bump into you, but it happens anyway. One word = clutter. After a certain time, rules change. Apparently, we can’t wear Jordan sneakers into the bar. This was not advertised. We were turned away when I was trying to go my second time. People that were already inside, were also wearing Jordan sneakers so I was confused. The guard said, «They were already in here prior to 9 o’clock.» If a rule is going to be enforced, I feel as if it should be applied all day if you do not want any issues for NEW customers that want to try out the establishment. It just leaves an uneasy taste in your mouth if you have to walk away after you were excited to go and have fun.

This is a perfect dive bar. Don’t let the seemingly small exterior full you either. This bar has more depth than it appears from the outside. They have a special virtually everyday. I’ve only attended Taco Tuesday — featuring $ 1 tacos! Of course, these tacos are pretty skimp. You could easily chow down 4 – 6, but, hey, they’re only a buck! THEYHAVEFRIEDOREOS! A full order comes with about 6, but you can also order half. It was pretty crowded and service wasn’t the best. Our server was hard to flag down, but the staff was pretty pleasant.

So I came here yesterday during happy hour and spent 75 bucks. Now, that’s a lot of money at a dive bar. I was here with my business partner. Ran into one of my fraternity brothers and even picked up his tab in addition to my tab. Today, I came back with my friend Heather and I feel I was raciallly profiled by the bartender. I’m 250 lbs, former d lineman and always wear a baseball cap. Profiling and racism of any kind is wrong. But I’m pretty dark although I’m neither black or Hispanic. The bartender told me she couldn’t serve me. I said why? She didn’t have a good enough answer. The only colored person there was me. I feel like the only reason I wasn’t served is because I’m colored. It’s wrong. Demeaning people based on race or not serving is not good business. I hope the owners take notice and so do other patrons. These are the same people that also own Christians Tailgate! Sorry, Bonnie is a great waitress. In fact, she is amazing but I wouldn’t be coming back here anymore. If you believe these people are racist like I felt please don’t give them your business. ** also please note that I didn’t drink anything tonight. I came from dinner to meet up with my friend here. Had I acted inebriated or drank or rude, there would be an excuse not to serve me. I simply said thank you and left. But people please stand up and fight hatred!!!

Came here for their steak night since it was one of the only places still serving after 10. Much like the preset comment that comes with a two star rating says, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Indeed I have. There’s not much parking in front of the actual bar but there is a parking lot that’s a decent size across the street. I would imagine it’ll fill up pretty quick on days where there is a exciting game playing on one of the numerous TVs. The good thing about Saint Dane’s is there is SO.MUCH.SPACE. Service: meh. We came while a football game was on so there was a decent amount of people here. Service was just lacking regardless. Asked for mustard more than once, water wasn’t refilled without asking, actually had a glass of water shatter behind me and splash on me… Steak was just alright to me. I’ve done a few other steak nights and I think this has been my least favorite. When we arrived they had run out of the smaller steak size, so we were forced into getting the large oz. steak. They were so incredible thin, I finished the entire steak and ate a good amount of the 2 sides it comes with. The only upside to their steak night is you’re able to choose your sides.

This is a very cute little spot. Good thing we took the red line because parking around there is a premium. Oy vey! The bar itself is the kind I like. Laid back. It is not pretentious. There are no airs. This is the type of place where you are not dressing to impress. I suppose you can, but no one really cares and I doubt they would really be impressed with snazzy attire. The inner sanctum of the bar is a very casual atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you can just walk in and unwind without feeling like you have to put on a show. It’s inviting. Well, at least to me it is. Perhaps others with different tastes would be repelled by the lack of loud music and ladies dressed in outfits that allow all their goods to be on display. There is also an outside area. It was cold last night. Fortunately, there was a big heat lamp thing to keep you warm. So yay! Another bar is also outside. That is a really good idea because I am sure on our sunny Houston days the patio gets a bit crazy and going inside to only one bar would be annoying. The staff is cordial and helpful. I had a shrimp poorboy. I asked if it was fried or grilled. The response I go was exactly what I was looking for. «It’s fried but I think we can grill it.» Super! Next, I was told it comes with fries and was asked if that was OK. Sure. Really I would have preferred to have other options, but hey I am not about to sweat over fries. Besides, my husband and a friend of ours was there. I had some fry takers. And a take away for fur baby lovers… this place is DOGFRIENDLY! Halley Puppy skips rope and wiggles butt!

This is a really great bar off the beaten path in the Midtown area. They have a full menu and a pretty decent selection of beers. It is a little bit on the smaller side, but it has indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of TVs to watch no matter where you are situated. It also plays the NHL network, which is pretty hard to find in the Houston area.

For a dive bar St Danes gets 4 stars. What is it about dive bars that you aren’t sure if your server is happy or about to beat the crap out of you? I’ve always been of the thought unless you’re a regular or sleeping with the bartender service is never great at a dive bar. Our waitress’ heart almost broke @ 10 on a Friday when we said we were going to get another round. I saw the devastation in her eyes so I offered to close out our tab so she could leave. The bar food here is AWESOME! This plus their weekday deals and large outdoor space are the reasons for the 4 stars. We started with the southwestern egg rolls and they came out piping hot and tasting like Taco Bell inside … Without the shame! They were pretty good. I had the chicken tender wrap and it was perfectly wrapped and filled with crisp tenders and ranch… and came with a side of amazing fries that tasted EXACTLY like McDonalds fries. Yup, Just made a second fast food reference. Boyfriend had jerk wings and they came out well sauced(without having to ask) and crispy. On their menu they have week night deals like Wednesday half off wraps and $ 1 drafts. Weekday happy hour goes until 7(maybe 7:30!) and they have a little live music on Friday and Saturdays!

I came here for Monday night steak night! I love steak nights! When I found out it was only $ 10, I felt pretty sketchy since most steak nights are ATLEAST $ 12−14…I ordered the $ 10 steak(12oz) and my boyfriend ordered the $ 13 steak(16oz) *all steak comes with two sides*. I felt either they switched are steaks or the size wasn’t justifiable… Either way even if they did switch it, my steak did not seem 16oz. Besides the size of the steak, I felt it was pretty tasty! I got the mashed potatoes and cream of corn for my sides. I would pass on the mashed potatoes, but I loved the cream of corn. You honestly get what you paid for here! The price is awesome! I would definitely return!

The only thing that is stopping me from giving this place a 1 star rating is due taco Tuesday. Other than that, f this place. The service isn’t nearly the same like how it used to be. On football Sunday(not sure if it’s due to the texans having a shitty year, or this bar just have a shitty shift in personnel) my gf and I walk into a near empty bar. It’s just a group of mature adults and a lady sitting out in the garage door patio with her toddler.(Seriously, who brings a kid to a bar.) The server turned bartender(short white girl with short cut hair and nose ring) completely ignores us for about 8 mins, then comes over and ask if we’ve been helped. We’re the only 2 people sitting at the bar, of course we haven’t been helped, ya jackass. She then proceeds to give us menus and glasses of water, then moves back into the pack of her coworkers that she ignored us for 8 minutes prior to our arrival and desperately continues her conversation. 6 minutes later after coming to the realization that we can forsee how our experience was going to be, we get up and walk out. On the way out I lock eyes with beetlejuice(serva-turnt-bartenda) gives me the«WTF, why are you leaving» face, as I just shake my head in disappointment. I won’t be coming back for a good minute, if ever. FYI, this review is broadcasted from OWL Bar off W. ALABAMA.

Hit and miss y’all. I’ve been to Monday steak nights, I’ve been to Taco Tuedays, and I’ve been to Wednesday half-price wraps. Some nights I get good service, some nights I get bleh service. Very inconsistent, but I guess it just depends on who’s waiting on you. Maybe if you look more like the typical midtowner instead of the typical chinatowners, you could get better and more consistent service because it seems like I would get better service when there are less minorities in the group. And no, I’m not one of those people who are quick to pull the race card. Protip for steak night: Whatever doneness you want your steak to be cooked, ask for one lower. You want medium? Ask for medium rare. You want medium rare? Shoot, you probably just have to say somewhat rare so they’ll at least cook it? They never fail to overcook my steak. NEVER. The cool thing about the steak night is you get two choices. You can have 12 oz of ribeye, or you can have 16 oz of ribeye. Obviously the price is going to be different, but at least you’re not forced to eat more than what you want if you’re not that hungry. You also get two sides with your steak, but the portion is really small. If you’re really hungry, just get the larger steak. Also, unlike other places that offer steak night; here, they have a two drinks minimum. Other places that I’ve been to don’t have this kind of restriction. I mean, yeah it’s awesome to have beer with your steak. But sometimes I just want to drink water, dude. You know? So I can eat more steak instead of getting full off beer? They also have other daily specials. Just look at the picture of the menu I posted and you can see what they offer every day of the week(except for the weekend). I know I’ll be back. And hopefully the next time I’m here, I’ll get decent service.

I’ve passed by this place a few times and finally decided to check it out yesterday for Steak Night. For starters, the parking is limited in front and side of the building, but there appears to be a lot and metered spots across the street. The bar and patio are relatively small, but there is more space on the side patio and back bar area. One particular server was extremely friendly and helped us find seating. She also gave me some flyers which had the daily/month specials. The steaks were seasoned well, but extremely thin. Also, I ordered mine medium… but it was slightly burnt around the edges. It definitely tasted better than it looked. Considering all the specials they offer, I’ll most likely come back for drinks.

My friends wanted to check out their Taco Tuesday and I was a bit skeptical about it since I went here for Monday steak night a few months back and had a bad service experience. Sure enough, the service hasn’t improved at all on this case. I’m very positive this isn’t their first Taco Tuesday so they should already know how many people would be there and should have more bartenders and/or servers to help out. But this was not the case. For one thing, my table waited more than 5 minutes before we saw our server again and was only able to order our drinks and food. Well it turns out there’s a 2 drinks minimum to it. But after we put in our order with the server, somehow the food came out first but the drink came out much later. It is pretty obvious that they are short staffed but this is basically the management’s issue as it’s making customers unhappy with the service satisfaction. One of the people in the group even went to the bar trying to order some drinks but it took him more than 10 minutes just to get 2 drinks. The food is decent though. The size of the dollar taco is definitely dollar filling. I remember the steak was all right as well, nothing special. But if my friends want to come here again, I will certainly re-direct them to go elsewhere until this service issue clears up.

Stopped in to see super bowl game, ordered chips/salsa, chicken skewers, Philly cheese steak, fries, mimosa and frozen margaruta. Skewers were the best and peanut sauce was nice combination. His Philly sandwich was all right, fries were good. Drinks were great, not too sweet. Service was good, limited parking available. We found parking on side street, so wear comfortable shoes. Will be back for steak night and plan to bring our dog.

I went by for their steak night a week ago. I ordered the regular size steak with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. The steak cam out about 15 – 20 minutes later. Upon appearance it looked a little small and thin than what I expected. Also the sides were a little smaller than expected. However the steak was good and I would give it a solid 3. The sides also would rate a 3. It was a good meal and priced at only $ 10 so therefore maybe I am being picky about the serving sizes. I would recommend getting the larger steak for about $ 3 more. Also, my service was good despite the bar being very busy that night. This was an average experience for me therefore I am not sure if I will, return for steak night.
