The food is lacking. For the same price, I can get a ton of yummy food from the food court at Houston Center. I go there only for Thai tea or smoothies.

Nice hidden gem for you downtown folks. They offer Vietnamese and Chinese along with most of the fixings. What I liked the most was the fact that it was a full service phở restaurant. Most other places, that are walking distance only serve it in a plastic bowl that’s way smaller than the bowl you get here. Spring rolls weren’t bad but lacked the amount of meat I’m accustomed to. They also offer smoothies and boba.

This is as close as I can get to Vietnamese food from where my school is at. It’s in a very easy spotted location right near the metro rail in the middle of downtown. They can get busy with students and plenty of business people who work around downtown. I initially came here because I wanted tapioca, but the quality was very poor and the Thai tea wasn’t very good. It was too sweet and you can tell it’s not fresh. The fried rice dish that I ordered, however, was pretty good. 3 stars for mediocre food and drinks though.

This place has kind of slipped. They pulled all pork off the menu and the quality I think has gone down. The bo luc lac today was kind of tough it use to be much better. I still like the place and will be back, it just does not seem as good as it use to be.

I am not a big fan of the asian cuisine. But their fried egg rolls are to die for. Never have I am had any eggrolls that are that amazing

Good pork sandwich and friendly staff. Cheap for downtown, pork sandwich is $ 4.55. There Vietnamese egg rolls are really good as well. I come here pretty often and have never had a bad meal.

I ordered the hot and sour soup and the special vermicelli bowl and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! It was served very quickly and the staff is extremely friendly. Will definitely come back!

Great location and good prices, but sub-par food quality. This place is located near the Rice Lofts in the north part of downtown. It’s a small restaurant with a few tables in the front and back. I ordered the special phở and a drink and the total came to around $ 10. Not a bad deal. The soup came with three different meats: chicken, meatballs and pork. All of the meat was very chewy. The taste was good, but tough chicken meat? No thanks. I tried a pork spring roll, dumpling, and crispy noodle dish that my office mates ordered. They were all good, but nothing that would entice me to return soon. There are better places downtown, IMHO.

This place leverages the fact that not many places are open for dinner downtown. However, literally 5 minutes away in midtown there’s a whole cluster of Vietnamese restaurants that puts this place to shame. The phở broth tastes like water and the stir fry can’t even match Pei Wei(which is really sad). This is one of the worst asian restaurants I’ve ever been to, but because it’s downtown, it’s not even cheap.

The smoothies are great! The food is pretty good too. I want to explore their menu further though. The banh mi costs more than I’m used to but it’s downtown on the rail line so I can deal with it. I really want to give them 3.5-stars.

Convenient and right off the Metro Rail but the food is nothing spectacular. I ordered a banh mi sandwich which lacked the crunchiness that I’m used to. The mango smoothie that I ordered to wash it all down was probably the most delicious and refreshing part of my meal. I’d probably come back just to order the smoothies next time.

I mainly go here for the smoothies, which are always delicious. All of the flavors I’ve tried so far are great though. Recently, my favorite has been the taro milk smoothie with tapioca balls. I wish they offered different sizes though, because the regular sized smoothie is really quite big and I don’t always want that much. And it’d be nice to not always have to pay $ 5 for a big smoothie — more often than not, I’d rather pay $ 3 for a smaller smoothie.

Best Vietnamese & Chinese food with reasonable price for downtown. I love their #23 vermicelli and lo-mein.Great place for lunch! The restaurant is not a full service, but their services are great!

I used to come here frequently because their food was really good and never had a complaint until today. I stepped out because I was craving their spring rolls so I went for a quick run to grab a half order of shrimp and a half order of pork. I walked back to my office and when I took a bite out of my pork spring roll the meat was so burnt and tense it actually gave me a minor toothache. I went back to the store for them to help explain and they simply never acknowledged the fact that I was a dissatisfied customer. The man on the cashier even had the audacity to say«have a great day». Look, I wasn’t going back there to get a free meal or anything. People make mistakes that’s understandable. However, when the manager in charge does not even step out to the front to take blame for such a crappy meal & when the people up front seem to it as a joke that is when the line is crossed and you lose a customer. I hope this review helps others avoid having such a bad experience. In addition I managed to take pictures of the so called pork which literally looked like a pile of coal.

Have been by here about 3 times now and very consistent– I believe the sandwiches are better than anything else but try it all out and see what you think… seating is limited but they now have some tables outside so here while the weather is getting nice take advantage of it!!!

This is by far my favorite lunch spot downtown! Everything is always good, it’s really busy duing regular lunch hour but go early or at 1pm and the crowd is thinned out and the food again is AMAZING!

I love their special vermicelli. It’s a mix of beef, chicken and egg roll. It get busy around lunchtime but the food is great! Menu is pretty extensive and should have something for everyone. phở is good too. They also have the tapioca drinks which I am a fan of but haven’t tried theirs just yet. I get too full on the food :).

I always and only ever get the #23 from here. It’s the vermicelli with pork and eggroll. It’s a simple, no-frills sort of meal that satisfies my voracious Viet food craving that always emerges every two weeks. Pretty weird layout of the shop, but nothing that isn’t efficient. A lot of the surrounding work crowds eat here. I impulsively ordered a Thai Tea today and was horrified when I saw the guy make it by mixing powder and hot water. As far as taste goes, the Thai Tea wasn’t bad. But for those of you who dislike powder-based drinks, do take note.

Nice little asian food shop in the north downtown area. I’ve found a few vietnamese sandwich places in downtown, but I think this may be my new favorite. I first came in and tried their jambon pork sandwich, and was quite disappointed. Dry, and very little meat. Not great at all. Also tried their tapioca, and it was alright. Had their thai tea, and it was very watery and diluted. Not the unbelievably rich and sweet drink I’m so used to. Maybe their other stuff is better, but(I never though I’d say this, but here it goes) I’d stay away from their thai tea. Thankfully, I came with a group and managed to try a few other things, and I have to say everything else was much better. The special sandwich and the grilled pork sandwiches were just so full of flavor. Absolutely excellent. They also serve a few other asian plate dishes — and they looked/smelled pretty good. While this place may not be stellar, they do some of their sandwiches really well, and I will most certainly be back.

Jah bless Houston. After years in the Big Apple, where getting passable Vietnamese food required long rides out to Sunset Park, or the intense radish aromas of Canal Street — you can find GOOD Vietnamese all over the city. Parking — This spot is downtown and pretty much designed for Office Workers. There’s no way I would drive into the city for lunch by myself. Maybe with a client, and then only with an expense account. Décor — It’s an L shaped or a shallow u-shaped restaurant. Sit-down tables as you go to the back, and those tall/bar type tables in the front. Clean and easy to see menu. Service — excellent and intelligent. If you have grown up in a real city, you’ve seen real poverty. On my particular day a homeless dude came in shirtless. The cashier handled the situation with a certain deftness that was quite nice. Most places are nice to a fault and other places are overly harsh but the cashier dude handled the homeless guy nicely. The Menu — Vietnamese and Chinese(I’m guessing the standard Americanized Chinese offerings) — It’s a decently large menu, but I don’t think they go too deep into the delicacies of either cuisine. Has that nice Letter/Number ordering system. «Lemme get an m-16 and an f-15 with a G-6 on the side» The Food — They had a Phở special for less than 10 bucks(6.95 but don’t quote me). I think all of the Banh Mi sandwiches were less than 5, with most clocking in around 3.50. I understand the obsession with cheap Banh Mi, but I’ve never been in a situation where I needed to eat more than 1 sandwich and only had 6 bucks to my name. I ended up getting the Bo Luc Lac with Rice, called garlic beef on the menu. Guess I’m a sucker for tenderloin. It was served with Jamaican Style side salad(that is lettuce and tomato on the dish sharing space with protein and starch). I got an ample inverted bowl of rice. And they didn’t overload the beef with onions and bell peppers. The shaking beef was very rich and garlicky. Pricing — Whole thing with a drink was around 10 – 11, but it was a proper lunch. Analyzing those TPS reports were a chore afterwards. Great lunch spot
