History

Established in 1978.

Frank Merryman opened the doors of Protex Pest Control in the Spring of 1978 and serviced mostly the Spring, TX area. Today we have expanded and serve most Houston areas including Houston proper, Mid Town, University, Memorial, Heights, Bellaire, as well as the suburbs of Spring, Texas, The Woodlands, Tomball, Cypress, Montgomery, Conroe and Kingwood, Texas.

Started pest control career in South Jersey and Philidelphia area in the early seventies after serving in the US Army (MOS Avionics). Moved to Houston to accept an administrative office manager position in an oil service business in mid 1974 but didn’t care to be locked indoors all day. Worked as a head hunter in the Galleria area for awhile before getting into industrial tool sales in the Heights area. Finally in 1978 I got the itch and opportunity to get back to doing what I enjoyed the most — the pest control business. I enjoy the problem solving, people contact, and the variety of places and pests and all the challenges that goes with it. I have those trying days like everyone but overall, I really love the pest control business — all 30+ years of it. I married to my wife Helen and we have two daughters that live locally. Michelle is a nurse and gave us a cool little grandson, Julian. Nathalie is a high school chemistry teacher and blessed us with our granddaughter Eva.
