Established in 2005.

In 1990 Dr Curka came to Houston. He has practiced Emergency Medicine at many Houston hospitals and has held positions at University of Texas Health Science Center, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston) and the Houston Fire Department (EMS). He currently practices Emergency Medicine in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System.

While practicing Emergency Medicine Dr Curka was struck by the fact that many people with musculoskeletal problems were not well served by mainstream medical care. They were diagnosed with «sprains» or «strains» or «arthritis» and prescribed pills without a real understanding of their problem. Worse still, some underwent unnecessary surgery.

Around 1998 this realization led Dr Curka to a renewed interest in «classical» osteopathic medicine and over the next 5 years he acquired the training to qualify for the certification exam of the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medic

Business Owner

Dr. Peter Curka was born and raised in New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Boston College in 1978 and his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford ME in 1983.

After medical school Dr Curka completed a rotating internship in Michigan and then entered active duty as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corp. He spent 2 years in Germany as a general medical officer in US Army Health Clinics caring for active duty soldiers, their families and retired service members.

In 1986 Dr Curka came to Texas and began his residency in Emergency Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft Sam Houston (San Antonio) TX. After finishing residency in 1988 Dr Curka completed his military service at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Ft Riley, Kansas where he served as assistant chief and later chief of the Emergency Department.
