The hours on this Unilocal posting are incorrect. The store is only open until 6pm Monday– Thursday. Pretty inconvenient! After reading other Unilocalers reviews about bad service and now seeing how early they close here in Rice Village, I’d say the excellent service I’ve received at the Galleria location is definitely worth the hassle of parking, traffic, etc.

The thought of even driving to Rice Village is typically enough to make my heart race… That said, a visit to Papyrus is worth the headache(and, really, that is a complaint about the location, rather than the store itself). Papyrus has a large assortment of lavish cards and stationary. There are also many gift items, more geared toward female clientele(sparkly frames, candles, journals, etc). The prices are rather high for cards, but again these are fancier than your typical grocery store selection. Worth a look for a special occasion!

I came all the way to this location and the sales associate was very unhelpful and rude. I had some questions about a product I guess I needed to order online. She seemed completely uninterested and told me to go home and order it from there. Plus this location was so tight I couldn’t fit in with my baby in his car seat. Not ADA compliant.

I love Papyrus. Unique products and friendly staff. I always come here when I need personalized stationary, special gift wrap, etc. What I do not love is the HORRIBLE attitude of the manager, Alan. Berating your staff in front of customers is not appropriate and he needs to loose his condescending attitude. I, along with several other customers felt very uncomfortable at the way he was treating his staff.

So I have to tell you I hate greeting cards. I’ve come across one or two in my life that I could get behind, but they are mostly sap and crap. I remember the first Christmas with my husband, as soon as we got home the cards hit the trash. Confused he asked«you don’t keep those?» I’ve never thought of keeping them, it’s like keeping a used wrapper to a candy bar. Never made sense to me and those people that put them on their mantel like they are pieces of art always make me laugh. That explained, I was first exposed to Papyrus cards when I worked next to Borders Bookstore, which carries them. Working 80 hours a week I had no opportunity to pick up a birthday present before a party. So I hit up Borders on my lunch break. Checking out the cards the first one I picked up I was pleasantly surprised, not too heavy on the cheese and almost managed to be cute. Knowing that cards exists that don’t make me cringe was such a relief. There cards are more expensive than your run-of-the-mill Hallmark, but the good thing is that is shows and they definitely feel like an upgrade! Since my first discovery I have visited the one in the Galleria as well as this location for all my greeting needs. I like this location better than the Galleria, the service is better in the Village. The people in the Galleria always seem to be doing important paperwork and are just too busy to talk. The girls in the Village always let me know about their specials before I get too deep into my search. I’m embarrassed to say that on my last visit to pick out a couple of birthday cards I found one that fit my relationship with my husband so well I teared up in the store! Even though his birthday was not for 8 more months I had to go ahead a buy it because I was afraid it might not be there when I needed it. Bottom line I recommend Papyrus for my kindred spirits out there that despise the junk for sale that passes for sentiment.

I went in here to order Christmas cards right before Thanksgiving and the service was absolutely terrible. The young girl assisting me acted like it was a COMPLETE inconvenience to answer any of my questions or help me in any way. It was really uncomfortable and I wish I would have just left, as I seemed to be a big burden to her. Mind you, they have some GORGEOUS stationery and I’ve shopped here ever since they opened a couple years ago. When I went to pick up the Christmas cards a couple weeks later, I made a comment to the manager about my previous poor experience and she provided me with a lackluster apology. Unfortunately I will take my stationery needs elsewhere next time.

Like the other Papyrus stores around town, you can find beautiful and artistic stationery here, as well as some wrapping paper and other trinkets. You’re going to pay for it: 12 – 15 cards and envelopes is usually 15 – 20 dollars. I think their stuff is really beautiful, though. And I’m such a stationery addict, I’ll fork over the extra money to be able to send out some really beautiful stuff. As with any store that deals in seasonal goods, you can get some good deals on their stuff right after Christmas and Valentines Day, to save for next year. I’ve been to other Papyruses(Papyri?), and I think this store might be a little smaller than the other ones I’ve been in. This probably has a lot do do with their location in Rice Village, and the fact that it’s pretty hard to expand once you get a storefront there.
