History

Established in 1947.

P & M Air Conditioning was originally started in 1947, as P & M Heating Company, servicing and installing floor furnaces. The original owners were Phipps and McMurphy, hence the company name. Sometime in the 1950’s, Ed Ratliff purchased P & M from Phipps and McMurphy and the company expanded into the emerging forced air furnace and air conditioning market. By the 1960’s the company’s major business was residential and commercial A/​C and heating, offering both service and installation. The company enjoyed a steady growth in the 70’s and managed to survive the economic challenges that the late 70’s presented.

In March of 1983, P & M was bought by Robert (Bo) Maddux and Brodie Riner, it was then incorporated as Maddux Comfort Control Inc., dba P & M Air Conditioning. In 1992 Brodie Riner retired and his share of the company was purchased by Mike and Steve Maddux (Bo’s sons). It was about this time the Rebecca Maddux (Bo’s daughter) joined the company. We bought a complete HVAC system from them about 5 years ago. This spring when we turned on the AC it was not working. We called and they came! After a couple of visits the problem was found, turns out it was from the original install 5 years ago. The problem was repaired and we were not charged a penny. A very honest company, we will never call anyone else out. The repair technicians are polite, always put on booties over their boots when entering the house and answered all our questions in language we could understand. I trust this company, using them 5 years ago was the best decision we ever made. Thank you P & M.

I have recently had a major overhaul of my furnace-​a/​c-​duct work by P & M Air Conditioning and Heating. The job included a new furnace, a new A/​C coil, replacing all my existing duct work and adding new duct work and an additional register. A quality system and a quality installation will not be CHEAP; but having received multiple bids, I can promise you that P & M was definitely competitive.
The team assigned to my house showed up when expected, stayed busy, was very courteous and was clear and respectful in their communication. Although this was a multi-​day job, they did the installation in such a manner that the system was functional and the house was cool when they left at the end of the first day. At the end of each day, they cleaned up any mess they had made during that day’s work.
After the job was complete and the payment had been made, I noticed a couple of small cosmetic things that I had missed before and contacted the owner. He immediately scheduled his crew to come back out and make the adjustments I had requested. The duct work and equipment installation not only looks great, but it WORKS GREAT! It’s nice to deal with a company that is concerned about customer satisfaction and doing the job correctly.

I cannot with good conscience recommend this company to install an Air Conditioner unit.
They broke my stairs to my attic despite my asking them to use a ladder. They rebuilt the stairs with 2 X4’s and now my attic doesn’t properly seal due to the additional weight.
I was told at my first service that whoever did the work didn’t fully install the furnace for winter. They did take care of that, but it was another day off work lost while they fixed the furnace.
Now I notice my ceiling getting «sweat» stains. I go up to the attic to find the drip pan full and overflowing. The drip pan safety switch was not properly seated so the air conditioner did not shut off. Water in my attic.
I call service out and I’m told by their service personnel that when they installed the air conditioner, two lines were installed, the main one that removes the condensation from the air conditioner and an emergency line that removes the water from the drip pan.
But P&M tied the two lines together instead of keeping them separate. So when the main drain became blocked the emergency drainage became blocked as well. Add into this the properly unseated safety switch and I’ve got water in my attic.
I appreciate the honesty of the service tech who told me the instillation was incorrect. He even found a 2 X 4 under the drip pan tilting away from the drainage.
I have a call into the owners. I will update this as I find out more but as a customer I can say I’m disappointed and cannot recommend them.

Avoid at all costs: I paid $ 85 for what I thought would be AC service. turned out to just be a sales pitch for a new AC system. A year later, HVAC Home Solutions discovered: condenser coil was never cleaned, freon level had never been charged, etc… ignored by P & M.
