Omni Houston Hotel at Westside

Ritz-​Carlton quality without the hob-​snobbery. Stayed enough times to make this my always go-​to hotel. Staff is always professional. Have Ishmael make you a cocktail if you stay. Small issues are dealt with immediately by a very aware management staff. Chris has been especially helpful and Sarah is always eager to make sure your stay is perfect.

This hotel has too many nice things to list but I shall try lol. From the beautiful atrium with soothing sounds of waterfalls in the lobby, to the coy fish ponds indoors (the staff have food pellets free for you to feed them!), to the staff just being GREAT… this hotel is the best value in town! However there are SOME things I may change.
THINGS I LOVED:
— At $ 71 a night, GET THE PREMIER ROOM not the deluxe! The premier room is approx 690 sq feet and the others about 300 sq ft. There is usually no price difference either so be aware and take the free extra space!
— the water features in doors and the large property with ponds outdoors as well
— the store in the lobby has AMAZING fudge!
— Mary at the front desk and other staff members were fantastic
— FREE PARKING that is easy to access. Be aware the entrances on I-​10 lock at 11pm I believe so you have to go around back the hotel. I passed it up twice and had to go all the way down i 10 lol.
— nice newer TV in the room and comfy beds
— room service is definitely on the higher end of price, BUT dare I say it is WORTH it! The crab cakes were divine, and the short ribs were just epic! Spent about $ 80 for 2 with 2 ontrays and the appetizer but WELL worth the cost! This included tip and tax.
THINGS I WOULD CHANGE:
— The deposit should be able to be used on room service and other services like other hotels. I may have missed something but I had to pay cash for room service. Again STILL worth It!
— Maybe one more tv in the premier room so you dont have to swivel the TV to the bedroom area when its bedtime.
— The pink tile in the shower is dated, but Im being picky to be honest.
— Location COULD be an issue, but could also be an asset for those close to Katy
Overall this is a 4.5, so for MY experience I will give this a 4 as there are a few things to update and change. However at $ 71/​night this place is a STEAL! They often offer deals for multi night stays as well! Get job maintaining this beautiful hotel and kudos to the staff for making me feel so welcome. Will definitely stay again!

I got a deal for $ 75 a night in a double bed room, pretty good deal there is also free parking which is always a plus — there is an additional refundable $ 50 charge at check in for «accidentals». You also have to pay $ 9 a day if you want wifi — which is ridiculous since every hotel ever has free wifi but that’s my mistake for not doing enough research.
The lobby is beautiful but that’s where the beauty ends. There is hideous outdated 1990’s wallpaper and long dim bland hallways that look straight out of a horror movie. The rooms are okay — like I said before, outdated. There are not many options around for food and I was there Christmas day so I had to resort to room service which was SO OVERLY PRICED. $ 50 for a burger, a small pizza and two drinks. They have $ 4 room service fees which is ridiculous because we are in the SAME BUILDING. I will say, the water pressure was amazing and the beds were super comfortable.

Stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend with family and it was OK. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms are just OK. Not much around the hotel area as for food options. Room service was descent but not the best.

Rebecca Alcala and Nadira are great to work with! We blocked a couple rooms for our wedding and they made our life so easy! The guests were satisfied. The hotel is not pricy, it’s beautiful and has everything you need! including a gym (Groupon prices are cheaper than booking directly with the hotel). Everyone was very welcoming and the sale managers were easy to reach at all time! They even personally welcome some of our guests! The hotel is clean. Parking is easy. Mr. Andrew Martin, the accountant, was very attentive and solved every issue in a kind and fast manner (we only contacted him through email but he would answer in less than 4 hours).
On the not so bright side, There is a waitress called Christina at the café on the lake who has the worst manners, she is rude and disrespectful. She forgot to place the order of both the bride and groom’s grandparents on our rehearsal dinner (they were seating at the end of the table) and when we approached her to find out what was going on she just explode and left us talking (half of the table was done with their meal and the other part was politely waiting with an already cold entrée during the waitress temper tantrum).
But well I guess you cannot find perfection and the hotel and the rest of the staff deserves the 5 stars without a doubt! So just avoid café on the lake or her shift and you will be alright.

The Katy networking event was held at the Omni. Nice facility, great service and the lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas.

I’ve been here several times and it is always a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly, the rooms are always clean and comfortable, and the lobby has an amazing atmosphere that I haven’t seen anywhere else. They even added more power outlets in the room to make it even easier to charge electronics, and they now offer the key to the mini bar so you can decline it and avoid those unnecessary additional charges!
Check in is always fast and easy, and the morning breakfast service is always on time. I’ve never had a faster check out process either. Everything is done in such an efficient fashion that I would be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if anything were to go wrong on a future visit.

The most important thing for a hotel to get right is a good nights sleep, so a comfortable bed is more important than well decorated anything! This hotel completely fails in this department! The beds in our double room weren’t queen beds. They weren’t even real full sized beds. They were something I would call a super twin spring mattress. I woke up feeling like I had beaten during a night. There is no real way to complain to the hotel about something like this as it is something that needs to be address by upper management to replace all of their beds!!!

I travel to Houston regularly and this will be my second stay here. I highly recommend this hotel as it is very modern, clean, and very well priced. The food here is great as well. The gym is basic but better than most standard hotel gyms. The outdoor pool is good as well with an awesome outdoor jacuzzi. The service is excellent as well. They have a great fish pond were you feed the fishes. They have a happy hour between 5:30 to 6:30 for drinks and appetizers. The lounge is very relaxing and great place to kick back and socialize. I will knock out one star for the bad service we got at dinner from a waiter. He was rather rude and inattentive. Other than that, I will be staying here regularly when I travel to Houston.

Stayed here while passing through from Atlanta to Austin. I got a great weekend rate but it would have been a deal at twice the price. Gorgeous, well maintained hotel, excellent staff and beautiful, comfortable, modern rooms. The only downside was parking was a nightmare and there were no restaurants within walking distance. I’d stay here again anytime!

The hotel was fully booked (!!). There was a kind of convention — I guess — from muslims.
The service was great; people were very friendly. We had a delay in the delivery of our luggage and we got immediately an emergency package to help us further.
Room was clean. As a preferred member, we got free coffee in the morning (room delivery). The free hot chocolate must be paid now :(
We had once breakfast in the hotel (menu card). This must be upgraded: we got cold coffee and we must wait 15 min at our food (which was just low standard).
Also time to do some renovation: the hotel is a little bit old fashioned.
Nevertheless, we were happy to be there again. Until next time I guess

Never judge a book by it cover the glitz and glam of the outside and lobby is nice by my Experience inside my was below sub par the room was dirty fruit loop beer cap and other sticky stuff was on the floor the mini bar was nice if you like over price and expire snacks tried to take a shower had nothing but cold water call Down stairs they said they was going to seen some one they never came its was just one of the worst night ever

We were looking forward to our stay here. The hotel looks fancy and modern, and the lobby is really nice. Plus free parking is always appreciated.
But things went downhill quickly after check-​in. We were told we had been upgraded to a VIP suite, nice! After entering the room we realized they gave us the living room portion only of the VIP suite, with the most uncomfortable pull out mattress known to man and two sad little pillows.
We asked for a different room, with whatever size bed they had, as long as we get an actual comfortable bed and not just a mattress. But we were told they were sold out. Totally non apologetic, and nothing comped or offered. Granted we did check in at 11pm and most rooms had been given out. I understand that happens. What I don’t understand is how this living room is in their roster and they think is acceptable to give to guests that pay for an actual room. It was definitely not appropriate for a 4 star hotel. Yes the room is large, but we didn’t book a room to admire the lounging area.
Being 9 months pregnant made this experience infinitely worse trying to sleep in that bed, not to mention probably traumatized my unborn child. We were only there one night so I sucked it up and stayed.
Bathroom is also extremely small and the door opens inwards. So if you are large or pregnant it takes some tricky maneuvering. There is also no blow dryer. At that point I couldn’t be bothered trying to call the front desk for one.
Beware if you are given «room» 5617.

I stayed here the weekend of my wedding because it was close to the venue we were having the reception. Whenever we arrived to our room, we walked into it being VERY hot. And to make matters worse, we had received a fruit basket that had been placed in our room prior to arrival, which also had cheese and crackers. Well needless to say the cheese was ruined due to improper care by the staff. Day two we have breakfast and while I admit it was very good, it was also very pricey. And the servers were trying annoyingly to get us to purchase the $ 19 per person buffet. After telling them no repeatedly were we able to get a menu.
Now part of the reason we stayed here was the hotel bar. We had several family members and friends staying here too and wanted everyone to be safe so the hotel bar was a logical choice for us. According to their own website, they are open until 2AM Friday and Saturday (
). Not for us apparently. The bartender decided to shut down the bar at 12:30am for everyone. We had a group of about 12 – 15 people and there were easily another 10 – 15 people at the other end of the bar. She was very rude about it and argumentative. There are many other places nearby that are nicer and equally priced. Look elsewhere.

Re-​instating my 3 star rating for this hotel; for anyone that hasn’t been following my saga, I’ll give the cliff notes: I stayed at the hotel (3 star worthy trip), left and believed that I left several articles of clothing there, wasn’t satisfied with the response when I inquired about standard operating procedures and staff at the hotel, realized that I in fact was wrong and did manage to misplace my belongings. This last part is new…
I owe the personnel of Omni an apology for questioning their integrity. Though I’m still not necessarily pleased with how they answered some of the questions I had about their chain of custody and procedures, I no longer have any reason to think they would steal from patrons. Once again, I apologize to all of the folks at Omni.

The Hotel has a nice entrance with the Koi pond. The rooms and accessories could use some updating. The service from the staff is friendly and the hotel is still clean even though it has a 90’s look and feel to it.
I asked for a single bed because it was only me staying for the week. I was told they were out. At that time the lady that was behind me was checking in with the other customer service rep and was given a single bed. My first thought was to mention it, but it was a lady, so I let it go. I was told I could change rooms the next day after 12:00.
I stayed at the Wyndham my last trip here. I will probably go back there on the next trip.
Can’t beat the price, so I can’t complain.

Absolutely terrible!
After an extremely long, over-​night, 5 hour drive, I arrived at the Omni around 3am expecting to check in and finally rest. I was told check in begins at 3PM so I had to find another hotel with an available room right then and there. I returned the following day around 3:30 pm and was told check in would be delayed to an hour and they would call me as soon as the room is ready. 2 HOURS go by and I NEVER received a phone call. I had to approach the front desk and it seemed they had no clue why I was up there.
One evening, a few friends and I made plans to go out. So we all planned to meet in one hotel room beforehand. As we were walking to the room a man told us no more than 4 people are allowed per room. Why should this matter? In no way were we being rowdy. Just 4 people quietly walking to another friends room.
I’m not sure who the evening manager is. But she sure is rude. After being out and about all day, my friends and I got back to the hotel around 1am. She told us it’s past our bed times and we should be in bed. Excuse me? You call yourself a a manager? I never got her name, but I should have. All I remember is she was an elderly woman.
This Omni location has the WORST staff. My friends and I do NOT plan on returning!

Im not sure about all the negative reviews here, seems like people have some insane expectations. I have high standards for hotels, and this one meets most of them. Check in was fast and easy. Parking was free and plenty of it. There was a guy cleaning 1 of the 3 elevators at 5:45pm, which seemed like a poor timing, but I’m not docking them a star for waiting 20 extra seconds to get to 5^th floor. The room was beautiful, the hotel is very spread out with a huge beautiful lobby and tons of windows. The huge inside koi pond is a fun element, as well as the duck pond outside my window. I had an amusing view of a taxi driver trying to kick a goose, would have been funnier if goose attacked him. The bed was comfy, the work area huge. Internet a tad slow. TV was a bit small but adequate. Room service decent, obviously expensive. Checkout a breeze.

Highly recommend this hotel! Very clean and nice. Quick room & prompt room service. They forgot our drink. They brought it to us in less than 10 mins. Great food and friendly staff. Beautiful pond with koi fish.

I can’t believe I forgot to mention the rooms in my first draft. I booked what I thought was a normal king size room. Well to be fair that is what I got, BUT there was no indication that I was getting a king size room with 2 joining rooms attached to it. Yes, TWO. I walk into the room and I see the 1^st door that connects to another room and it is locked so I look around the rest of the room. Then next to the bed I see the 2^nd door that opens up to the room on the other side of me. I WAS NOT HAPPY, to say the least. The walls are very thin so I could hear both neighbors talking and their tvs; I could hear them crystal clear. If you think about staying here MAKE SURE you don’t get one of these rooms. I hope that not all of their king size, smoke-​free rooms are of this nature. Other than this, it was a typical room and nothing else to report except that there was a fridge in the room that acted as a mini bar with a lock on it and you had to request for another fridge in order to use it… Before, I stated that I may come back, but I will not be coming back because of this. For the price, I expected better.
PROS: The check in process was fast and we were in our room within minutes. Great ambience inside with plenty of (I think live) plants. There are interior waterways with different types of fish in them. I think the guests feed them (whether or not allowed), because when you are on the pathway to the elevators (central located) they swim close and open their mouths as if they’re already classical conditioned to do so. They do have glass elevators that are really pretty, but incredibly slow. There also 24 hr gym access with lots of gym equipment (& free water bottles, towels, & headphones inside). I was glad to see disposable headphones as I had forgotten mine.
CONS: Exterior hotel lighting is scarce and it’s creepy to walk alone at night. The gym is located in an inconvenient place, as well as the pool. They are both in the back, passed all of the conference rooms so they are difficult to find. Another reviewer said you have to go to the pool in order to access the gym, but I think he just failed to find the separate doors. There is no (free) continental breakfast. There is a $ 18 breakfast bar or you can order it by plate from your room. The parking is really not convenient also. You can valet or park in the back in the garage. The property isn’t well equipped with signage so we were unaware before the front desk personnel told us.
I’m here for two more nights so I hope there’s only positive things to further report. I’d recommend this hotel, but I don’t know if I’d stay here again. There are so many options in Houston. Corrected above^ I will NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.
