History
Established in 2011.
While his company is new, founder Mark Frachtman has personally been in the tutoring space for nearly two decades. By age 10, Frachtman began tutoring his younger sister in Math. Realizing he had a knack for explaining concepts in plain English, he continued to tutor friends and eventually worked for both a national and private tutoring company. Frachtman understood that it took more than just subject knowledge that made him an effective tutor; it was also the special rapport he had with his students. He also soon found out that the national companies grouped several students per tutor, making it impossible to offer the personalized approach necessary for struggling students. On the other side, the private companies seemed to hire tutors without much discretion. As a Psychology major, and having studied under a business mentor for years, Frachtman decided to put his unique background to work and launched Math Geeks & Science Freaks™.
Meet the Business Owner
Mark F.
Business Owner
Mark Frachtman has always loved Math and Science. As a child, he realized he had a knack for tutoring, but it wasn’t until his college years that he started pursuing his entrepreneurial side.
Not sure what he wanted to do post-college, Frachtman entered Law School, but realized it wasn’t the right path for him. As a musician and lover of social networks, he subsequently launched his first website, which provided musicians nationwide a platform to find local musicians to start their own bands.
While his website didn’t go viral, Frachtman did acquire nearly 15,000 members, and gained invaluable experience along the way. He became a fixture at local entrepreneurial events, where he was eventually introduced to the man that would become his business mentor.
After working for, and learning from, his mentor for nearly two years, Frachtman decided to combine his passions for business and tutoring, and launched his company with his mentor’s blessings.
