Marvin’s Moving & Delivery

Marvin and his crew were awesome. They were on time, they helped with everything even though we were not that organized and managed to do everything in three hours. It was the first time we used a moving and delivery service and we were really impressed. We highly recommend them if you are in the the Houston city and greater area. Super efficient and professional.

They didn’t damage anything, and didn’t waste any time, despite being contracted at an hourly amount. My girlfriend is extremely picky about how her stuff is organized, and I didn’t hear one complaint from any of them despite requests I would have considered annoying. Can’t imagine why I’d try anyone else.

I’ve used Marvin’s several time due to subletting and they are consistently excellent. They make it painless. Last time we were finished in under two hours! Highly recommend.

Marvin and his crew were extremely efficient and very helpful! They loaded everything in my storage unit in under 10 minutes and even had extra wrapping/​padding for where it was needed. They moved everything into my 3^rd story apartment well within the 2 hour time frame as expected and even quickly put together my coffee table and bed frame in 20 minutes! They were very polite and even made small talk with my Dad :)
I purchased the $ 25 for $ 50 Unilocal deal (min 3 hour move btw) but since the move was under 3 hours he just put the $ 25 towards my payment. I tipped them well because they deserved it. Very hardworking crew and I will definitely be using them again in the future!

I have used Marvin’s twice in the past two years, and both times they’ve been efficient and fast. Three guys in two hours were enough to get from one second floor apartment to another (it was just a half mile away, so your mileage may literally vary). Everything survived unscathed and made the move very painless. Definitely recommend.

What a difference a couple years makes… or maybe it’s just getting the right crew. When we had a change in work circumstances and sold our home in Tomball to move to a temporary apartment in Sugar Land, it was a no brainer to book Marvin’s again since they were so great the first time. Since we were moving things into an apartment and to storage in a garage next to the apartment, we chose to go with 4 men and a large truck. We had pretty much everything packed and labeled for the apartment or storage.
How did they go wrong? Well… first they arrived a little late, but we can work with that… but then they were slow (this move took just about 8 hours rather than less than 5 like last time, and last time we had fewer guys). They didn’t disassemble things or pack well, so everything didn’t make it on the truck, causing Hubby and I to have to make 6 more trips with cars to finish moving. Then they got lost due to their GPS on the way to the apartment, and wanted to charge us for the hour they were lost. Then they got boxes meant for storage in the apartment and things we needed in the apartment in storage. When we went to get the boxes we needed out of the garage, what do we see but many boxes marked «Fragile» and «Crystal» stored upside down and on the bottom of piles, getting smashed in-​as we are not going to unpack all these boxes until we are in our next home, I have no idea if anything is broken. Finally, we found a seat cushion for our outside chair sliced open (they had put it on upside down to hide it) and the back of a dining table chair broken (see pictures).
Sorry Marvin, but we will not use you again.

Their rates are lower but the cost winds up about the same.
PROS: The guys were professional, courteous and prompt. They were friendly and asked me for instructions when unclear but worked with minimal guidance for everything else. They brought plenty of wardrobe boxes for me, as I requested. There were 3 guys with the over-​sized truck.
CONS: They slowed down pretty significantly during the unpacking. It took them 5 hours to move a 2 BR apartment, where all boxes were packed and placed by the door for them. They dropped a couple of boxes (I saw them topple from truck) and nicked up some furniture but you can’t know these things until you start unpacking. These things happen with all movers but it’s never fun.
If I had to do it again, I may try the movers that have 4 burly guys at a higher hourly rate. It may cost slightly more but it would be done a lot quicker and you’d get quilt pad wrapping as opposed to saran wrap.

Had three workers help move a 1 room from a 10 foot uhaul to a 3^rd floor apartment with no elevator. I called and they were available the same day. They were early and quick and careful, though all of my stuff was in boxes and small bins. The whole thing took less than an hour and cost $ 200.
Paid with cash and paid $ 25 for the Unilocal voucher, but it was less than the minimum time for using the voucher, so I made that their tip for a quick and solid job.

They sent three movers who were really efficient and never took a break even when I offered them food and water. I chose them because they were the cheapest of the highly rated moving companies on Unilocal.They didn’t even charge me for the time lost when I was 30 mins late.

My daughter used Marvin for moving within Spring last week. Again they were prompt, efficient and professional. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This was my first time using Marvin and they were on time and moved me from the 3^rd floor of my apartment complex into my new home I just purchased.
The furniture I owned was very heavy. They disassembled my bed and dresser and hauled it along with all the boxes I’d packed within 1 hr down 3 flights of stairs, and then we were all off to my home where they’d assembled my bed and dresser back together and placed all the boxes in the designated marked areas. They were completely done 30 mins before the window of time I was allotted before being charged for going over time. They wrapped all the necessary items and not a thing was broken or scratched. I was so impressed I tipped all 3 gentleman $ 20. This experience with Marvin was affordable and the service was great! Awesome job!

I used Marvin for the second time to move and just like the first time, they were amazing! This move was from a 1 bedroom apartment in the Heights to a 2 story home in The Woodlands and the entire move took less than 3 hours! Not only were they affordable but the service was amazing! I used them to move from my apartment 30 minutes away to a single family home (I had it all packed in boxes already). I really have no complaints with them! They were on time, were reasonably priced (lower than most that I found), were quick and didn’t dawdle, and carefully wrapped a lot of my furniture, even going so far as to wrapping things that probably didn’t need to be wrapped!

AMAZING JOB! Sent 3 guys to move my second story 2 – 2 apartment to my 4 – 2 house and not only did they work their absolute butts off for almost 6 hours for me, we only had a very minor incident (a small statue lost his head, but I glued it back on, no problem) and they wrapped everything so well, taking good care of my china and everything. Very impressed! And even when I tipped them at the end of the move, I gave them $ 100 to split between them, they were so grateful! It was very heart-​warming. Hard-​working guys and the discount offer ($ 20 for $ 50 off) was super worth it. Highly recommend!

Marvin was HUGELY responsive the three weeks up to our move. It was a bit complicated and involved a few different locations. His men were on time, very friendly and very professional.
I also called the top ten movers on Unilocal and Marvin’s prices are the cheapest. Be sure to use his Unilocal $ 50 coupon… it shaves a bit off your bill.
Outstanding. I would use Marvin and his guys in a heartbeat. I particularly liked being able to call him and have him actually pick up on the fly to talk to me. No answering machines…

I absolutely would not recommend this company. They did move our items quickly, but they didn’t allow us to pay with a credit card as advertised. I had exactly the amount of cash owed and they told me to go to the atm to get their tip. When I couldn’t pull out any more cash that day I was told they’d come back tomorrow. They were waiting outside our house when we got home from work and came up to the front door the second we pulled up. Very creepy and unprofessional.
There were also glass items broken in two boxes and we are completely missing one box. They refuse to compensate or accept any liability even though one of the men admitted dropping a box. Use someone else!

Just in case showing up at my house wasn’t creepy enough, the owner Marvin has now been stalking me online and trying to add me on facebook and linked in. I can only assume his intent is to try figure out my schedule so I will be taking this up with HPD and making sure our cameras are on!

Second time using Marvin’s moving, and things have changed.
They now charge $ 25 for the roll of plastic they use to wrap furniture (wasn’t the case before). Secondly, you can no longer pay via check. You’ll have to go get cash from an ATM, or be willing to pay an extra 5% to use a credit card. They need to either accept personal checks or charge 0 fee for using a card. Having to drive to an ATM in the middle of a move, is not fun.
