The short ribs are great! I come here about once a week. I’m addicted to that bibimbap sauce they have. The people there are pretty friendly and some of the guys there actually try to remember your face.

I just stopped by today for lunch, and tried the beef bibimbaps. I was quite impressed, and will definitely dine here again. It does get pretty crowded, so best bet is to go before noon. Co-worker had the spicy pork bibimbap, and that too, was delish!

I went to Kobecue the day before Christmas for lunch. We requested something from the lunch specials and they said they weren’t serving the lunch specials, which I found strange since we were there during their lunch time(11– 3 I believe). Next we tried to order wings but they said they were out of wings, which was also strange since it wasn’t that late in the day yet. My companion settled with the Short Ribs/Steak bbq plate and I got the Steak stone bowl. The food came out quickly and hot, there wasn’t many people in the restaurant. If you asked for kimchi it comes for free as side dish but you have to know to ask for it or they won’t give it to you. The meat on both dishes were disgusting. It was edible but not at all what I expected from a korean place. The meat had a beef jerky feel to it, and was super soft and fell apart easily. Even the kalbi(short ribs) had this feel too it, when it usually is a little chewy and has some texture. The meat was slightly acceptable in the stone bowl because you couldn’t tell as much, but in my companions bbq plate you had to eat it by itself. My companion did not finish his plate, he was too disgusted. The bbq meat plate also came with a side dish of macaroni which didn’t seem to fit the plate. Macaroni is not usually served with korean dishes, it is usually served with hawaiian dishes. Although the ingredients for hawaiian and korean meat plates are similar, it did not fit their korean theme. My stone bowl had all the right ingredients(I have had many dolsot bibimbaps before) and their spicy sauce had a good taste. service: 2 stars(not serving lunch specials, no wings, had to ask for kimchi instead of it being offered) stone bowl: 3 stars meat dish: 2 stars Perhaps the meat wasn’t fresh and they had no wings because it was the day before christmas. But that is not an acceptable reason to serve your customers that type of food.

I am a Korean American but anyone who’s not can still say that this isn’t authentic Korean food. However, I think that the idea and concept of this restaurant is quite innovative. I love dolsot bibimbop(hot stone mixed rice) so I ordered the beef hot stone bowl and my guy ordered the chicken. The food came out fast, as it should because you’re essentially just placing ingredients together in a sizzling bowl. The flavors of all the ingredients separately were quite tasty, like the beef and fried egg. However, I don’t think there was enough seasoning to the spinach and the other vegetables to really marry everything together. I had to add a pretty overwhelming amount of their hot sauce to really get the taste to what I wanted, though in the end, I opted for the taste of sriracha over their chili sauce. Overall, I think the flavor was too bland. Aside from the food, the staff was very friendly and I actually enjoyed their house made kimchi(or I think it is house-made), which the server was happy to refill for us. I want to come back and try this place again and try out the tacos and kimchi fries!

Good authentic Korean food. Had the galbi bibim bop. It was good quality meat and good fresh vegetables. Be better if they had korean names rather than English names. Was really surprised with the fact that other than the TV channel there were no Koreans in sight but the food was legit.

Not bad. Definitely not authentic material, but this place definitely helps against a case of the Korean cravings. I had the hot stone pork bibimbap. It was alright, nothing too exciting. I’d come back here if friends wanted to go, but it wouldn’t be a place that I’d go out of my way for. Service was good though. The cashier was extremely helpful and patient.

«Korean dining, fast-food style.» It is what it is, in this case. Maybe I’m just spoiled from the authentic restaurants I’ve been to off of Blalock, but this wasn’t like I thought it would be. It’s very modern-trendy, from the inside décor to the Billboard-Top-100 hits serving as background noise. My friends and I came on a Saturday night, and it was actually pretty empty. We ordered: * Spicy Pork and Chicken BBQ plate * Spicy Pork stone bowl * Bibimbap burger with kimchi cheese fries The staff is really, really friendly. Polite, helpful, and always smiling. Brownie points to the owners for educating their staff on explaining exactly how to eat bibimbap to the customer so they don’t burn their mouth in a first bite. My friend almost did. Overall, it was… okay. The food is really Americanized, to be honest. We drove 20 minutes to get there. I doubt I will be back, unfortunately. It just wasn’t really worth the trip to me. There wasn’t banchan, which I find a staple in korean food, and to be honest, the drive to Blalock isn’t that far from here. That would be worth the extra gas if only because the food is so, so much better. But hey, if you want to save the hassle of finding a fusion-food truck, or if you don’t want to delve into the intricacies of Korean food and are a newbie, this place is for you.

Great quick fix but that’s pretty much it. It’s more of an American fusion. The place is very clean compared to other Asian places. –Short ribs was a tad fatty and wasn’t seasoned enough. –Tofu rice bowl and steak rice bowl was plain, the broccoli didn’t even looked cooked. –Hot stone bowl was very entertaining and good so far. –Tacos were small but ok. –Kimchi was watered down, I guess to fit the average consumers Overall it’s a good fix for the cravers who want a cheap Korean BBQ but its not the same.

Not too bad, not too bad. Growing up Korean, I think you tend to be hypercritical of anything Korean or Korean fusion. We got mandu, kimchi fried rice, and a few tacos to try. My husband said the tacos were the best part of the meal, and I think I would have to agree. I was a little leery of eating them, as the guy at the counter couldn’t really tell me for sure if there were any nuts in the food, but it looked safe enough. I probably shouldn’t have taken the risk, being from out of town, but I went for it anyway. I didn’t think they were too dry, as someone else said, and the flavors were good. I did enjoy my kimchi fried rice, but it was kimchi fried rice just like I can make at home.

Finally had a chance to try out Kobecue! I ordered the spicy beef stone bowl and my husband got the steak burger. Both were pretty good, especially for a «fast food» korean place. This is definitely a great alternative to authentic restaurants that cost a fortune at times, and they have pretty good fusion items. We’re looking forward to trying the tacos and the quesadilla looked yummy too. My stone bowl came with a good variety of veggies with the meat and a fried egg on top that was perfectly yolk-y inside. Not brave enough to try the super spicy sauce but the sweet and spicy one was delish! David’s burger was very flavorful and the fries were really good too. Neither of us are kimchi fans, so I guess we’re missing out out those! We’ll be back for sure, service here was great and food came out quickly.

Not impressed at all. I brought my mom and siblings here for lunch and no one finished their food. Since my brother loves Oh My Gogi, I thought maybe this place was worth a shot. Nope… negative! We barely touched the kim chi french fries(and my brother doesn’t leave any survivors) and overall it was just. disappointing. My sister tried their spicy pork tacos and wasn’t impressed either. I tried their BBQ Short Ribs and Kobecue Beef Plate and it was just decent at best. The flavors were very«Americanized». Granted, I love fake-Chinese food and all, but this just did not even get to that level! For the money I spent, I rather drive a lil’ further and go eat at H-Mart where the Korean«fast-food» there is AMAZING!

Nice cheap place for a quick Korean craving. Quick self-service. 10% student discount with an ID(or if you’re like me, you can just look like a student and the cashier will believe you: P). Food/prices: For about $ 17 to feed 2 people, we got the bibimbap burger with a side of kimchi fries and two tacos. If you want to try both a burger and kimchi fries, be sure to get them together as upgrading to the kimchi fries from regular fries costs less and you still get a huge portion. I really liked the bibimbap burger(bibimbap ingredients, including spinach, carrot, a fried egg, and bulbolgi on a soft, slightly sweet bun) but the kimchi fries were just average(the fries weren’t crispy as hoped). The short rib taco was amazing(super flavorful and tender) but the crispy chicken one was terrible(not crispy at all with a bland, sticky flavor). There are a few sauces at the tables you should try too — the spiciest one there isn’t spicy at all and added a nice kick to the tacos. Ambiance: a young, hip kind of place but I did see a few families with kids here. Service: friendly young people behind the counter and they offered us the 10% student discount which I thought was awesome. Food came out quickly and they checked up on us once during the meal. Bathrooms: super clean!

I crave Korean BBQ tacos almost weekly. Just caddy corner to Kobecue is Chilantros — my all time favorite Korean BBQ taco truck. However, with the nature of food trucks not having a physical location — you have to really keep tabs on them. You have no idea how many times I’m drooling for Kimchi Fries and can almost taste it’s creamy, crunchy, sweet and salty goodness in my mouth to find that they moved location that day. DOH. That’s where Kobecue comes in. The craving for Korean BBQ is there and it needed to be satisfied ASAP. It’s an ok alternative to Chilantros. There tacos are not nearly as good, the meat not as tender or tasty. Their kimchi fries are not bad but not mind blowing. What I like about Kobecue’s kimchi fries is that it’s packed with big pieces of kimchi. Other than that, it’s not much to rave about.

Kobecue, I feel like, has a lot of potential but it just misses that mark of being a great fusion restaurant. First off, for their kim-chi fries, I don’t like the cut of fries they use — it’s too thick and dry. As for the bulgogi burger, it’s decent but like I just said — misses the mark. Bulgogi Burger — 3⁄5 Spicy Pork Kimchi Fries — 2⁄5 Bibimbap — 3⁄5 Regardless, I’ll probably still come back because I’m a sucker for Korean fusion kind of places.

A simplistic concept done right, Kobecue takes the complexities of Korean barbecue and dishes dishes to create an elegant, quick bite inside the loop. They offer delicious pork belly kimchi fries and get the food out relatively fast. They have authentic stone bowls to give the rice that needed crunch when eating a mixed rice dish. Good place for lunch, or a casual dinner.

I tend to stick to the fusion food offered here, which is mainly the tacos and kimchi fries. My preferred way of eating them is putting the fries in the tacos as they’re pretty small and it adds flavor. Simply put it’s solid place to stop by if you want some Korean fusion snacks. If it’s late enough I usually end up at OhMyGogi though lol. Never had an issue with service either and the food comes out hot.

After eating some excellent Korean food in Koreatown(LA) last month, I had a hankering for it again and this was the only place in the loop I knew without standing in front of food truck. The place was packed full of asians on a Monday night but they were all college kids and none of them were Korean. I tried the tofu bibimbap and it was so bland compared to what I had eaten last month. I tried adding a variety of spicy sauces that the restaurant provides but nothing could really improve the taste. Even though Kobecue proudly doesn’t use MSG, perhaps that was the missing ingredient. Even the kimchi was bland. Not in the non-spicy sense but it had no briny taste before the spice hits you later. Like as if it wasn’t pickled long enough. I should venture outside the loop.

I found this place on Unilocal and sounded very interesting. The Kimchi fries and the tacos seem to be the things to get. So I tried them. The Kimchi Fries were definitely worth trying. I would probably order them again. Its unique and tasty! I also got a short rib and spicy pork taco. The short rib taco was a little tough but the spicy pork taco was good. Place is a little small and parking can be a challenge. Park in the back is better as people recommended. You will probably fight for a seat at lunch. From what I saw, lots of people take it to go. Price is a little high, I think. Got 2 tacos and fries for about $ 9. Overall good but not outstanding.

Pretty fast, pretty cheap, pretty decent. There’s not many Korean places in this area, so I’ll take it… Dont expect authentic. I dont think thats what theyre trying to sell. A lot of people work in this area, and since the parking happens to suck balls in this parking lot, a lot of people walk during lunch and Kobeque is quick. I had the tacos, which I thought were pretty good. I dont really like how they doubled up on the wrap. I had to take one off… and theyre pretty small, but what do you expect for $ 2 each. I was satisfied with 2 tacos, so a $ 4 lunch is greta news to me! Their bibimbop is decent, too. Like I said… pretty fast, pretty cheap, pretty decent… but be careful, there’s only about 10 tables here, so be early and be quick!
