K & N Service

I needed a switch on a Wolf Microwave replaced. This unit is 8 years old so understandable. I called K&N because that is who has serviced my Sub Zero and Wolf products since the mid 90’s. Didn’t realize that Sub Zero/​Wolf no longer recommends them. However, I didn’t know this and called them as before. They charged me a 179.00 trip charge (my house is 42 miles from their office) and 175.00 to install a 19.00 part. So I paid roughly 375.00 to get a 19.00 part replaced. After calling Wolf they said complaints were so heavy they stopped recommending and they now recommend Seasonal Comfort. After calling and talking to the owner/​manager they had no reservation in taking advantage of this customer. On top of all this, the front of the microwave was not installed correctly and the door did not open properly. They came out and fixed that the 2^nd time but still have not called me back about an obvious rip off. Wish there was a 0 star rating as that is what these people would get.
They won this one and made a lot of money installing a 19.00 part for upwards of 400.00. But in the long run they lost as I am looking forward to telling them «Remember Me?», I’m the guy you took advantage of. Never again as they have lost my business forever. The consumer intimately wins and should. I don’t mind paying a reasonable amount to repair but this is simply way out of line.

The most disrespectful, unprofessional company in the area. I needed service on my Bosch appliance and tried to move an appointment either earlier or later, whatever worked for them. Karen, one of the owners, actually hung up on me and told me that if I don’t like they way she schedules, I can go to Bosch and work with them. After being hung up on, I called back and the other owner, Tommy, picked up as Karen refused to get on the phone. He was just as disrespectful and aggressive as she was. They will candy coat you to reel you in, then once they get you, your at their mercy. Avoid them like the plague.

My parents recently bought a house with a lot of older Viking appliances that needed to be serviced, so they contacted K&N because they are the authorized Viking service company for the area. $ 500 later they still have 3 ice makers that don’t work, a freezer door and meat drawer that do not open properly, 2 torn/​cracked gaskets, and a whining compressor/​fan. Basically, they paid $ 500 for a technician to shim out a roller guide rail in one of the refrigerator/​freezers and call it a day (and that drawer still doesn’t function properly). He said everything was working just fine and he could order and install a part for the freezer door for an additional $ 300. Seriously?

My family (grandmother on down) has used k and n for years and I will not use them again.
Called to have my ice maker cleaned. When they were here told me I have a faulty float valve (even though I had experienced NO issues except a cleaning light) and I was told since my machine was less than a year old (purchased ¹²⁄₁₃) the part was under warranty.
So they ordered the part and came Monday to install it (remember the machine was working 100% fine) while they were installing they said the valve from the the water supply was broken and I needed to get a plumber here to fix it before they could finish with the ice machine. I was a little mad since there had been no problem before and now I needed a plumber? They said they were not qualified to fix it (even though they were qualified to break it?) And K and n insisted it was broken before they came (when I asked him how that could be since the machine was getting water and operating fine — he said «I don’t know, it’s just weird»)…so I’m left with an ice maker in the middle of my hall and a broken valve the «probably won’t drip» on my wood floor so I call
the plumber. He comes that evening and $ 150 later the valve is replaced.
The next morning k and n returns to finish the ice maker. As they leave they inform me I owe them $ 315! They said the part wasn’t under warranty after all.
So let me get this straight-​all I needed was a cleaning? And now I’m out over $ 500 for something I had no issues with? And you said it was under warranty? At the very least they should have informed me BEFORE ordering it that it was not under warranty so I could have decided to do the change or not.
SINCE I WAS HAVING NO PROBLEMS. But they did the work, cost me other work (new valve) and then charged me.
I am writing a letter to both BBB and K and N I feel like I was duped and will not use them again and I am telling anyone who asks NOT to use them .
UPDATE. I SPOKE WITH MY SALESMAN STEVE AND HE SAID IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL REVERSE THE CHARGES. SO I WILL BUY MY APPLIANCES FROM THEM BUT WILL NOT USE THEIR SERVICE. THEIR SERVICE IS SUBPAR

If you have a Bosch appliance that needs servicing (especially if it’s in the warranty period), THESE are the people to call.
In order to maintain your Bosch warranty, you absolutely must use one of their authorized service centers. I found out quickly that there are only a handful of them in the greater Houston area, and the choices are lean. K & N was really my ONLY choice — as I learned that the other choices either had an F rating on the BBB website or had all received consistent 1 star ratings on Unilocal.So, I called K & N.
Granted it took eight days for them to get to my house from the time I called for the appointment (my primary reason for deducting a star), but they were extremely accommodating about the time that they would be here in order to a work around my schedule. Walter called as promised on the day of the appointment, and when I pleaded with him to please call me when he was en route to my home so that I didn’t have to leave work hours ahead of time to fit into his two-​hour window, he readily agreed. Sure enough, he called me about 15 minutes before he was headed to my home and I was able to meet him here without issues.
Walter fixed my dishwasher in all of about 30 minutes (thank the Lord!) and it ended up costing a whole lot less than I thought. Although not cheap (other local repair facilities have cost me less), Walter was efficient, knowledgeable and gave me tips on how to avoid having to go through this repair again. And, he was wonderful with my dogs poking around in his business, too!
I’m happy to have my dishwasher functional again, and I’m very grateful to have found a repair facility that is honest, reputable and efficient, despite the fact that I had to wait over a week to get them out here to make the repair.
I would definitely call K & N again should the need arise. I was very happy with the end result — which is really all that matters. Washing dishes by hand sure gets old!
