They make the best ox tails and smothered pork chops. The macaroni and cheese is a little less than desirable. The orange hue in the mac n cheese is a bit too much coloring for me and it was not creamy or cheesy at all. The mustard greens were decent with bits of pork meat or bacon ends.

Really friendly people. I had the oxtails & rice & mac n cheese. Food was good, hefty portions. The eating area is open & well-lit.

I love this place. I’m a regular. Everything is good. Parking is horrible. The staff is friendly.

This is one of our favorite places normally… Always on point… Except for tonight. Got the ox tails with greens and candied yam… Someone put too much salt in the ox tails and green this time… Disappointed.

As far as food quality and taste this place is terrific. The have raised prices till it costs about 15 bucks, a person to eat here. Just about priced to high for me.

I absolutely love this place and cant wait to go back. Parking is terrible, you should know that before you even consider going. Actually parked my car a few blocks away and had my friend take me, there was a slim chance we’d find one spot, let alone two. With that being said, the food makes up for it. I was a little skeptical when I walked in. Its lack luster and looks more like a retirement home or a Sunday school class room than a restaurant. There are two lines, one for to go and one if you’re going to eat there. I chose to eat there because the line was shorter and I didn’t want to drive all the way home and risk the food not tasting as good when I warmed it back up in the microwave. The food is a little pricey, that was probably the biggest shock, me and friend spent a total of 40 bucks… so it wont be a place I just show up to on a whim. I got the oxtails, mac and cheese and greens. The oxtails were perfect, they were tender and full of flavor and they gave me more than I thought they would. The mac and cheese could have been a lot better and the greens were probably some of the best I’ve ever had. I ate my entire serving in about 15 minuets… I could hardly let it cool off I enjoyed it so much. You’ll probably want to take a nap after, so don’t plan some kind of major activity afterwards :) In conclusion, I really enjoyed my meal and will go back.

My mac-n-cheese was extremely watery, tasted like just add water Mac-n-cheese. The green beans were okay, the rice and gravy was my favorite… the oxtails were just okay, and expensive for the amount they give. It was very clean that’s why I gave them two stars

I would have to go with Mikki’s over this place. Food was solid but left more to be desired. I tried the same items at each place as someone told me this was the better. I must say it didn’t stack up, but food was solid overall. Fried Chicken was a little bland and the pork chops were very small. Just my take on it. Nothing personal.

What a cool place ! Food was hot, plentiful and the people really nice. Had smothered ham hocks and my buddy had oxtails. Big sides. The greens… OMG, the greens were excellent! People said… you went there? I tell them they gotta get out more and enjoy Houston. Highly recommend the place.

Very friendly staff, I ordered the oxtails. They were seasoned well, and I was pleased with my sides. I would have given more stars but rhe oxtails were somewhat tough, they could have been cooked longer.

I ate at this place for the first time about a week ago. I got the oxtails thinking since the name is «Just Oxtails» they would be awesome! I was sadly disappointed. The flavor of the gravy was ok but there was so much fat on the oxtails it was ridiculous. You would think they would trim the fat like most places. There was hardly any meat on them and they were oddly small. They gave me an enormous amount but I see why cause there’s not much meat. Maybe your experience will be different but I was very disappointed. I will not visit this place again I paid too much money to have a container of fat.

Heard from everyone that this was the place to go for soul food and it didn’t disappoint. We went on a the sunday of mother’s day and there wasn’t many people there; our timing must have been great because there was a pretty big line that formed while we were eating. Had the oxtails(great), yams(very good), mustard greens(great) and a lemon cake(amazing). Topped it all off with a cup of red kool-aid(yes, red, not strawberry as someone in line referred to it). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Loved this place; it’s like they have a bunch of grandmomma’s in the back cooking. Must visit.

I had the ox tails, Mac & cheese, greens and sweet potatoes. The greens we’re really good. I did not care for the mac and cheese but my son loved it. To me it tasted more like a cheese sauce or maybe Velveeta? I am not sure but definitely not from scratch. The oxtails were very tender but the gravy was way too salty.

My wife has been raving about this place for years; however, I held off going because the reviews weren’t so good. But then she convinced me, finally, to go… This place is legit: the smothered pork chops are INSANELY good, as are the sides and cornbread. The staff is super friendly as well… Yeah, we’re definitely returning…

Really good food and really friendly service! Tried Oxtails for my first time and I was not disappointed! It’s a cafeteria like atmosphere so if you’re dining in, grab a tray and you just go down the line and tell them what you want. The plates come with the main item + 2 sides. Also comes with corn bread. My Oxtails plate came out to be $ 13.99. :)

I’ve been here a few times over the years and I went one day last week because I had a taste for some chitlins and I didn’t want to wait another 4 months before I’d just cook some myself(New Year’s Eve). I wasn’t really impressed with the chitlins — even though it did satisfy my craving. They didn’t have much of a flavor and they tasted like they’d been doused with some type of plain seasoning. The greens were nothing to write home about and I’ve had better candied yams out of a can. Let’s not talk about the service. I will go back, only to satisfy my semi-annual chitlin craving, but this is not a place I would frequent.
